As they say location location location! This restaurant is in such a pretty spot that it makes it easier to overlook some issues. Service is OK to friendly, it depends who is serving you, our main waitress was friendly and professional. The service in terms of efficiency is good, our drinks were taken promptly and food was served hot, fresh... More

This is beautiful bay on the Derwent estuary although was windy outside and apparently often is. The Boat House has a great view. Service was friendly and welcoming and great with young kids. Food really great especially the fish and chips and squid.

I've been here a number of times and each has been a story in its own right. The service can be a bit hit and miss but the setting by the sea makes up for that. It's a good place for large groups as it can get a bit noisy due to the acoustics

If anyone has any doubts about the quality or skills of these Chefs then they may first go to the Kiosk at The Boathouse Restaurant and try the Seafood Chowder which at $9.50 for a really generous portion must be one of Hobarts greatest gastronomic bargains. We went again this Friday and sat outside guzzling our chowders and they were... More

Setting & Atmosphere: Fantastic I am rating it on the meal that I had: I was in a group of approx 10 people and I will, first up, say that most were happy with their meals. However, two of us went with the Seafood Chowder which the waitress assured us would be a generous serve made with mostly Tasmanian seafood.... More

Wonderful waterfront location - expansive views from window table. Good service and delicious 'Special of the Day' (Hapuka) fish main course, cooked to perfection. Will recommend and return.

We had a lovely lunch at the Boathouse. A table at the window, even on a rainy day was delightful, watching the gulls swoop and the ducks bobbing along the river. Bread to start, nice, chewy and fresh. My eyes were unintentionally bigger than my belly, as I ordered the mushroom fricassee (entrée) and a side of French fries with... More

For an establishment touting fine dining , our experience was less than "fine" last week. Chicken, very undercooked sent back only to be returned just as undercooked & a very well done steak was requested & when delivered was just medium, far from what was ordered. We were told there was a new chef had started that day, but that didn't... More

Hosted our daughters birthday at this venue last Friday night. Found the wait staff extremely accommodating as twenty guests split between two tables. We were able to reconfigure seating to suit without fuss. Meals were presented in a time manner, with extremely pleasant staff. We were able to pay individually and utilise the Entertainment card for discount. Meals were reasonably... More
