Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We found this food to be different overpriced for what it was. We would’ve been better off going to a nice Chinese takeaway bar. Probably one of the worst Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Hobart based in the Casino at Sandy Bay. Fantastice outlook over the nearby marina and up the channel to Hobart itself, the bridge and over to eastern shore down to Opossum Bay. Great opportunity to get a...good view and see any of the big tourist boats coming in. The day we went the weather was perfect and accordingly so were the views. Excellent menu and we indulged in a number of entree plates and then mains with accompanying vegetables. The steamed scallops with ginger and shallots and the pork bao buns were certainly a stand out but all the dishes including dim sims and dumplings were excellent Service was very good and atmosphere nice and restrained. We would recommend this as one of the best chinese restaurants in Hobart (we think better than Mei Wah!) and a highlight for any visitors or locals although not a cheap experience but you get what you pay for.More

For my birthday my brother decided we enjoy the time together, catch up on family chat and just have fun. Arriving at Kwan Ho are the rest of my younger brothers with their partners and niece - this brother had 'ganged' up with the rest...of the family making sure I didn't miss out! It was truly a beautiful evening, the staff so attentive, friendly. If our water glass was below a certain level, this also applied to our wines; it was topped up quietly and professionally. My self being coeliac/dairy intolerant they cooked my meal separately of the same menu I chose for all. (Being elder sister was so good in my choosing the meal!) Nothing was too much, even the dessert was a beautiful surprise! By the end of the evening all the staff stood in a line as we walked towards the doors, bowing and thanking us for enjoying our time. Professionalism was truly shown to all that evening, a time always to be remembered.More

as a chef of over 35 years, this food was uninspiring, tasteless, and very expensive. we had fried sausage fried rice, just put a egg in a pan with some steamed rice and throw in some diced sausage and wow thats top cuisine right there(not)...it was tasteless , bland and expensive, next some braised duck, it came out like some one had sliced some breasr threw it in a dish then poured some uninspiring tasteless sauce and put it in the oven, serve it with 2 steamed raw bok chouw veg a hey presto. there menu was very different and it did not capture my imagination, fancy words for pkain ordinary food. the staff seem more suited to, waiting on people in north koreo, they did not have a smile and seemed very regimental, very boring like the food, we spent $500 with 6 people, dont go there it looks inviting , but thats where it ends. only good thing is they had a lift in the restaraunt and i could take the kids for a ride and consume a yummy bag of chips. heed my warningMore

Our annual trip to this usually 5 star restaurant. Unfortunately the food standard has slipped. Slightly burnt entree and pork stir fry overloaded with chillies. Disappointed!!! Don’t normally write reviews but felt we needed too ☹️

We came here for a conference and reluctantly tried this restaurant as it is in the Casino. Usually hotel restaurants are not the best but this one is a GEM! Authentic Chinese food certified by my (Chinese) wife. The food is excellent and so is...the service. Not to mention the harbour view. Congrats guys. Top restaurant.More

I had Garlic Pork Ribs described direct from the menu below. Garlic Pork Ribs 28 秘製蒜香骨 crunchy pork ribs on the bones, marinated with fresh garlic, spring onion, fresh chilli Pork was deep fried and tasted of fat. The garlic tasted burned and the dish...was dry in texture not having a sauce or dipping sauce. My daughter had the Spicy Salt Squid which was also deep dried (as per menu) but was not crisp and also tasted of fat. We both had the pork buns as entree which were beautiful. A disappointing experience as we had been told that this restaurant was very good.More

Need to be honest, I’ve tried some foods that never tried before. It was definitely a good experience. We ate jellyfish (weird for me), spicy and mild food, many dishes in the menu, the restaurant is so beautiful, inside a hotel. Overall it was good...but maybe I’m fan not a big fan of some Chinese food. And kind of expensive.More

Booked this restaurant whilst staying at Wrestpoint Hotel, loved it so much we ate there twice in 5 days of our stay. Attention to detail, great service and we had the Crab Omelet twice it was amazing, Beef Rib in BBQ sauce which was SO...tender, and fried rice. Little on the expensive side, but for the quality of food served it's well worth it. Definitely would book again when in Hobart.More
