We dined here twice in a week. Both times we had a very good, top value dining experience with only a couple of minor quibbles. The service was friendly and efficient, especially the bar staff. Good range of drinks, especially enjoyed the Milk Stout on tap. We saw many people drinking what looked like pretty good cocktails. The food is good value and what we ate ranged from good to really good. We also really like the approach of small to medium shared plates at good prices. almost like having a degustation menu. The bao buns are a good starter. for us the best of them were the fried chicken. The cracker was the miso pork belly. simply melt in mouth divine and super tasty / super rich. Almost as good was the calamari basket. Again cooked so it would melt in the mouth! Gyoza were very good. The wings were the just good and we'd skip them next time - not as special as the previous mentioned dishes..if you can sitting outside near the gas heaters is worth it. We will return when next in Hobart!

Met family for lunch at The Den in Salamanca, plenty of pay parking. Took children with us and sat outside with heating, no wind so very comfortable. The restaurant had a special of 3 Gua Bao for $10, great value for the kids and me! Took a while to arrive but well worth the wait. We also ordered some loaded fries which were delicious as well. Cocktails prices were average for a well located bar, $18 - $22. Enjoyed the atmosphere, good food and drinks.

We had dinner here after finding the restaurant on Trip Advisor. The staff were friendly and welcoming and happy to try to accommodate your seating preferences. We started with a couple of gin and tonics (we stuck to Bombay Sapphire but they have a good range of local gins) and then ordered our food. We chose the Korean Chilli Wings (a bit bland), the Bibimbap bowl and Pork Belly Bao's which were both delicious.

We booked here for 7:00pm for our honeymoon. Myself and my husband ordered at 7:20pm and was told there was a 45 minute wait. We ordered cocktails as well and the waitress initially took our table number when she delivered our cocktails. My husband advised three separate waiters/waitresses of this to avoid confusion but no one seemed to want to remedy this. Whilst waiting for our food, we saw several orders do the rounds of the outside and inside areas before the order was delivered to the appropriate table. After an hour of no good, my husband flagged down a waitress who got the manager who proceeded to have an argument with my husband regarding the wait time he was advised. If we were told it was an hour plus wait, we would have never placed an order for food. The restaurant offered a partial refund after we were insistent we did not want any more drinks at the venue. This was the only bad/disappointing service we experienced in Hobart.

I've been brought to this bar on several occasions on various trips to Hobart. Perhaps it speaks to the people who continually bring me here but it caters to a corporate espresso-martini sipping clientele who I'd rather avoid where I can. A staggering amount of wines and spirits on offer. It says something about a place when you notice the air-conditioner is clad in faux huon-pine (an analogy for my colleagues who drink here perhaps?) The cocktails are usually quite good, the Asian inspired bar snacks are usually quite ... deep fried.

The Den is a very stylish bar and restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and a very glamorous fit out. It serves some interesting craft beers on tap, good wines by the glass or bottle, and some tasty and well presented share plates. The jalapeño poppers were a ( very spicy) highlight. A lovely place for some late afternoon drinks or for an evenings wining and dining

On a Friday night at 5:30pm, this place was packed. Inside and out on a chilly night. Book if you want a table at night… inside was crowded and space was tight but overall it’s a good stylish atmosphere. We ate there and it’s a tapas style menu, so small share plates but everything we had was very tasty. Cocktails too were yum! Staff were super busy but everyone we encountered were helpful and accommodating. Not suitable for children and it’s loud… upstairs seems better for conversation. Recommend!

Dropped in with my wife and 2 young children. It is Family friendly and Service was spot on. My wife and kids had coffee and babychinos. We Had a share plate of Japanese fried chicken which was delicious and i had some nice lagavulin whisky. The staff gave some great advise in regards to paring with and iron house milk stout. It was fabulous way to spend some time. We were outside near a fire with overhead heating and inside looked warm and cosy

Staff shortage? I don’t know, but it took about 40 minutes to get some wings and something else which escapes my mind. This was following the iron-man nearby, but honestly it wasn’t packed so that would be a poor excuse. The honey-soy wings were standard wings with sauce on the side that I guess you’re supposed to dip them into. That was new to me, but might be the local standard. The staff was quiet nice, just the extremely long wait time for a simple food that was at most slightly above average. The other thing we got was so forgettable that I can’t review because it escapes my mind.

Been here many times and was disappointed this time. Food is over priced (for amount served) and I am sure that the amount of food is getting smaller each visit. Shared quite a few plates among four and went home hungry! Didn't have a mid strength beer on tap, only had a light beer in a stubby! Had to ask three times for water; forgot to make cocktail ordered.

My girlfriend and I hit this place after our day tour and we loved the feel of this place with a great vibe, nice drinks and good bar food. We sat downstairs (though I believe upstairs is better) but we loved the fireplace and the feel of the place downstairs. The food was just bar food but we enjoyed the korean chicken wings, chicken karage bites, calamari and the pork belly was a must and so tender. The beers were cold and the wine and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. I will be back.

We had a lovely evening meal in a very relaxed atmosphere. The bar staff were very friendly & offered suggestions on local beers & wines. The waiting staff again very friendly & the foo was delicious. Would recommend the salmon skewers.

What a place! How cosy and inviting 🔥 the moment we saw the fires and bao buns we knew we were on a winner. Finding a seat next to a lady named Carol was the best part of the experience, what a delightful and charming lady you are. I’m thankful for the brief moments we shared over our stay. Please pass on our wishes (Lou from Vic) 💜 The food was all delicious and worth every cent...bao buns and chicken wings....BUT those stuffed jalapeños are next level 🙌🏼 thanks for making memories for us! When we return to Tas I promise we’ll be back and I hope Carol is still there on her perch 🍷👌🏼

Nice quiet bar that was perfect for a Sunday wine and lunch. Had live music and cocktails pretty good. Warm and toasty inside for the cooler days and fills up fast during the day. Great experience. The food however took a long time to come out even though it was quiet when we ordered

Great ambience and although it wasn’t super cold the gas fire place inside was comforting! The place is super cosy possibly because of the rock walls and comforts seating. Drinks moderately priced with a good local array of beers, wines, gins. Food was excellent. Shared the pork bao, the calamari and the loaded fries (duck) and it was heaps for two of us. Will get cheaper food and drink in other places but not sure the feel of the Den will be replaced.
