We visited Suzie Lucks as a family group with two children. On arrival at the restaurant in Salamanca Square you will notice two things, firstly how open and light the venue is with its floor to ceiling glass frontages onto the Square giving an air of space. The second thing you notice is possibly a consequence of all this glass is how noisy the place is when it is full of diners.
The menu is a mixture of Asian fare although predominantly Korean. The menu is extensive so after much discussion we found the best option to be the Lotus Banquet at $59.00 each. This option gave us each a banquet of some 9 items from the main menu. I admit that I am not much of a fan of curries and spices so I chose the Red Roast Chicken. The chicken turned out to be just fine, just enough Korean flavours without the curry and spice evident in the Banquet dishes. The banquet dishes were in the main vegetarian. By the way there are no options with the banquets you have what is listed on the menu. Our party was very happy with this, as the selection was right across the main menu.
Spring rolls for the children went down well.
The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and making suggestions from the wide number of choices. However they were a bit slow in taking our orders, which was annoying when the children were impatient.
The drinks menu was OK but as expected for the area, a bit expensive.
In summary the venue was nice and modern and had great views of the Square but became rather noisy when the restaurant was full. The staff were friendly but slow or distracted at times. The food was great, particularly if you like Western style Korean and the drinks were a touch expensive but no worse than expected.

It's been a while since my last visit here and it's even better than I remember. Friendly, genuine welcome by everyone, good cocktail selection, great menu, good wine list and excellent food. Each dish was delicious, perfectly cooked, deep in flavours, fresh, good sized serves and very satisfying. One very good thing is the offer to taste a wine if you're unfamiliar with it. Service was enthusiastic, friendly and efficient - even though it was very busy. Hence my 5 star rating.

Located behind the facade of Salamanca historic wharf frontages is the University of Tasmania‘s media school, and on the ground floor in this building is a modern Asian fusion restaurant that we found when looking for a hot meal in the middle of Hobarts winter. Asian cuisine is a bit hard to find here so we were hopeful for a great dinner.
The decor left me feeling nonplussed & the seating was cramped. Compared to say a Sake Restaurant where I’m OK paying well over $100 for dinner to enjoy a spacious themed dining experience whereas here it felt like a store that’d been repurposed.
It was a bit underwhelming, and overpriced given the whole experience. Maybe it was “fusion” but the laksa was a very random flavour wise although the shellfish was fresh enough. The beef Massaman curry was nice, and OK for the price tag.
I had a “lime” Margherita & was willing to try a new take on that drink. It was served without ceremony in a standard tumbler, the rim coated in seeds & salt. It really had lost its way. For $20-ish cocktails which blew the total of our evening to $132 really much more was wanting.
If you are not expecting great Asian dining then ignore the price tag & stick to the standard beef curry then you’ll probably be fine here.

We stumbled on this place after a late arrival in Hobart, and in need of lunch at 3PM when everywhere else had stopped serving.
And what a find!
This was tasty, fresh, original Asian-fusion food with some fantastic flavours.
Serves were large, so, be careful not to over order and they came with a good range of beers and mocktails.
Staff were great, food was served fast, and they had an extensive gluten-free menu.
While lunch was superb, it looked like this place would really kick in at night, as it doubled as a bar/restaurant.

I went in with good expectations, only really heard good things. It started mediocre and ended poorly. We had to ask 3 separate times for a food menu before someone actually gave us one.
We had chipped water glasses which I discovered as I drank and felt something sharp on my lip.
We got the pork dumplings which were average at best, boring, nothing really wrong with them just wouldn’t get again.
Got the chicken katsu. The crumb coating was thick as, chicken was moist which was nice but there was zero flavor, absolutely none other than fried crumb.
The shining moment was for my unfortunate friend who order the wagyu. As soon as it was put in front of her she said she smelled something and held it to me to smell. Words really cannot describe the awful foul smelling odor that came from this meat. It was like a horrible combination of burnt hair, burnt meat, gamey, yeasty, sweat. It was as bad a taste as it was a smell. It wasn’t rancid meat because that wasn’t anywhere near the smell but my god it was so so so horrible. My friend choked down one piece and I couldn’t even finish half of one. Even 2 hours later after we left and let management know they should look at that dish because it was actually inedible, went to a different food place, I still have a horrendous aftertaste of it.
The sad part is that I went in with high hopes and left with such a (literal) bad taste in my mouth.

Hit this place on a Saturday night and tried a good cross section of menu items.
For me, the beef and chicken satay sticks were tender and juicy and very good.
Also tried the duck with roll ups and the pad Thai and curry flathead was quite good.
Give yourself a treat by trying the chilli kick and trust me, it’s certainly a kick.

We visited this restaurant the night we arrived in Hobart. It was around 915 pm and all the restaurants around the MOSS Hotel had kitchens closed at 9 pm. We were lucky with Suzy Luck though. They were still taking dinner orders and must say that every item we ordered starters/main/ dessert were very good in taste and presentation too ( being last order for the day). Service was also with a smile !!
The only downside was that the place was a bit noisy ( some tables).

General review - Lotus menu - Ambience (3 our of 4). They try to preserve the cafe idea while trying to go up market but then miss both. Food presentation (3 out of 4) plating is different depending on the dish but wasn't much more than just placing on the plate/bowl. Food flavour (3 out of 4). Interesting and divergent. Delightful in its choice of seasoning. Several dishes were very good (salad, skewers) for others the flavour combinations were confusing. Service 4. Very good. Attentive but unobtrusive. New dishes arrived perfectly timed. Price 2. Expensive enough to be prohibitive. 15/20
Neurologically diverse review - sitting at the windows is very calming so visually not overwhelming. Sound was chaotic and we had to use our 'calmers' ear pieces to make it through the meal. There was no sound dampening so far away discussions were overheard. Music was too loud. Actually drove us from the resturant before we were finished.

We had an excellent meal late in the afternoon. Nothing was an issue for the manager and lots of good suggestions. All meals were fresh and tasty and the presentation indicated a professional kitchen outfit. Staff were well trained and helpful. The place was full by the time we left......thats gotta be a good sign. Highly recommended.

My husband and I wandered into Suzie Luck's after meandering around the Salamanca area. Although the Taste of Summer was happening across the road (and I believe Suzie Luck's had a stall there), we decided we'd like a shady sit-down relaxed meal elsewhere. We weren't particularly looking for Asian, but soooo glad we happened upon this wonderful venue.
We were greeted warmly and placed at a table with a view of Salamanca Quarry which was literally pumping with activity on a beautiful Summer's day.
With drinks to start, we accompanied them with our first choice of Kingfish Sashimi. A dish of delicately sliced kingfish atop with pickled cucumber and bathed in a smokey soy with cracked spices. Yum.
Our second dish was a divine chicken and coriander dumpling with a dressing of soy and lime, peanuts and slices of chili. With a 6-piece serve, it was more than adequate for two people.
We finished off lunch with Chicken Laab. A large platter of minced chicken with delicious spices which we loaded onto cos lettuce leaves accompanied by healthy lashes of picked carrot, cucumber, red onion. Again, a generous serve.
Suzie Luck's staff were attentive and informative when asked about the ingredients of the dishes we had. Definitely a restaurant we'll come back to.

We hadn't made a booking on a Saturday night although we were still able to get a spot at the bar to eat without issue (we where there pretty early though). It's definitely a hot spot to be and right in the mix of things down in Salamanca.
Had some tasty cocktails and beer and a range of vegetarian shared dishes. Plenty of vegetarian choices (and options for dietary requirements) which was fantastic and made it hard to choose. All dishes were really solid and full of flavour. Standouts were the Pink Panther cocktail with the addition of pink peppercorn and the salt and pepper tofu roll ups as well as the smashed cucumber.
Fun night out, would suggest booking if possible to avoid disappointment.

Vegan menu had some great options, I had a delicious soy pad Thai, my wife had the kohlrabi salad. Washed down with delicious local beer, Two Cities Pale Ale. Super friendly staff and great location overlooking Salamanca markets.

Had a delicious meal here, somewhat marred by the bearded front man who noted we were ‘running behind’ for a 2 hour window from 5 pm and was told we’d have to be out by 7. We were left feeling unwelcome and rushed throughout the meal. The place was largely empty, we had 3 three lovely courses and finished with 40 minutes to spare. First impressions count!

A cosy casual vibe…very busy on a Thursday night so worth booking. The food was fresh and tasty but some dishes had sauces that were too sweet/heavy and overpowered the main ingredients eg. Beautiful “pink Ling” was drowned in a very sweet sauce. We really liked the tofu roll-ups (see photo)…similar to Peking duck pancakes but vegan of course. The eggplant dish was tasty - a lot like tempura although batter not as light as we usually prefer.

The food was outstanding! The portion sizes were fair - we didn’t leave hungry or feel as though we had overindulged.
The flavours in each dish were fantastic. We had the chicken dumplings, the pork rolls, waygu curry, and the bar snack of cucumber, ginger and chilli. By far the best meal we had while we were in Hobart
