We stopped in to try the famous whiting burger. They were not busy at the time and there were plenty of seating choices. They have a nice menu and selection of drinks. The interior is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our fish sandwich. It was...on an excellent fresh bun and the finishing was excellent. My only complaint was that the actual fish portion wasn’t very large. There were several bites with little of no fish in them.More

This unassuming 'general store' is a real find if you are visiting on the south coast. The kitchen does excellent fish and chips and burgers to keep you going after a visit to the beach or Little Sahara.

Best food this end of KI! The whiting burger is sensational . The coffee is great ! Don’t miss it . Basic supplies are sold but in limited stocks and small choice. The 98Ron petrol pump is broken down as of Jan 27 2023 ,...and the only other option is 47 km away in Kingscote , so be prepared !More

Visited based on other Trip Advisor reviews and it certainly lived up to expectations. Coffee was good. Staff were friendly, and food was quickly prepared. The King George Whiting burger was exceptional, as were the grilled chicken burger and calamari. Would recommend a visit.

Vivonne Bay alone is amazing, then you stop in for something to eat at the general store and you're blown away!! Fish burgers were massive and delicious, could not fault them. Friendly staff as well!

We eat twice during our 3 days stay on Kangaroo Island. If you would like to visit little Sahara, it's the only place you can eat. But the hamburger (beef) tastes nice. The whiting and chicken burger is a little dry.

August 2022 Located about 30 minutes from the entrance to Flinders Chase National Park, and about an hour from Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks, this is the only place to get anything in the Southwestern quadrant of the Island. The store sells pre-packaged snacks (crisps,...drinks, ice cream), limited camping and grocery items, souvenirs (Tee Shirts, etc), and has a cafe counter with burgers, dogs, chips, etc. There is a dining area off to the side that has picnic tables and a fire place. The store is emptier than shown in the photos on Google Street View and the menu is more limited, but the only think you'll care about is the Whiting Burger, the sandwich that makes this place shine. It was so good that we drove from Kingscote down to the shop, about 45" to an hour each way, just to get a second one on our last day. This store also saved me because I didn't bring a sweatshirt for a Mid-August trip and it was colder than I expected. Thankfully they had a sweatshirt that I liked.More

Great place, nothing fancy with excellent pub style food especially the whiting sandwich which my wife and I devoured. They have both wine and beer, a small convenience store, clean toilets and fuel basically in the middle of nowhere. Definitely stop for the whiting sandwich...if nothing else. Loved it. We'll be back.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our fresh King Whiting burger to the great tunes the girls had playing in the shop. Read a couple of negative reviews, probably self entitled types who expect a red carpet wherever they go. Do yourself a favour and stop here!

Stopped in while on one of our day trips around Kangaroo Island. Out the front there are picnic tables and as we had packed a picnic for lunch decided to stop here. Grabbed some hot chips and cold drinks for the picnic. Great service and...a fun place to stop at.More
