This is such a popular and iconic spot in Coober Pedy. It was so busy the night we came here it took us nearly an hour to get our take away order. We will certainly return here before moving on. The prices may be a bit on the high side but the service and quality of the food is worth it. This is a stop not to be missed.

Delicious pizza with perfect, thin and crispy crust. We lunched with another couple and shared the Coat of Arms pizza, and the Spartan pizza.
Magic flavours and quite unique (Coat of Arms) enjoyed with a cold beer.
Sean the owner was on site providing friendly and efficient service.
Finished off with a great coffee.
Highly recommend!!

When we would mention Coober Pedy we would often have someone advising us to visit John's Pizza Bar and Restaurant, if you believe the advertising they have the best pizzas in Australia. Of course we had to make a point of visiting and we did that today for lunch. The pizza menu is quite extensive, I think most people would find something they could choose, there are also other food options if pizza is not your thing. After a very thorough assessment of the pizzas we have to say they are pretty damn good, the crust was particularly to our liking and the topping tasty. The service was also very good, you were acknowledged if you were waiting and there always seemed to be someone to come and help you. The pricing was good for both food and drinks. xx

One of two Pizza places in CP, this is the one you want to try if you lust for loads of cheese, oversized portions and eyewatering amounts of calories. If it's taste you're after, or a minimum of sophistication, look somewhere else. After all, it's called John's and not Da Giovanni.
The interior presents the concerning customer with the charms of a hospital, so I opted for a pepperoni takeaway, but I guess if you visit with your mates the lack of any attempt to create a friendly atmosphere is secondary. The locals love it.
Those who ever tried a real, ie Italian pizza will eat with regret. However, they clearly form a minority - if I remember correctly, John's won an award.

This was some of the best pizza I have had anywhere! We had the vegetarian pizza and added pepperoni. It was great. We also had a side salad and they make their own dressing which was perfect for the salad. They have a full menu of other items and everything looks delicious.

On our first night in Coober Pedy we took the advice given to us at the Lookout Cave underground motel and went to JPB (Johns Pizza Bar). Two large pizzas, made fresh from scratch - massive! Lots of good toppings (Mediterranean and meat lovers). The four of us were full and couldnt finish the pizzas, and had enough for brunch the next day. Prices were reasonable for where we were (remote location, thus expensive delivery charges). So happy we went back on our second night - another pizza, veg lasagne, mixed grill and spaghetti carbonara... again, all fresh ingredients and all extra yummy! Definitely recommend JPB!

John's was recommended as having 5th best pizzas in the world, so we tried it out. The pasta was delicious - gnocchi and beef lasagna. We then tried the pizza with me trying the Coat oif Arms. Unfortunately one of the meats was unavailable as was the sauce so they offered a compromise which I unfortunately accepted. The pizza base was great, as was my wifes pizza, but unfortunately the toppings on mine did not impress my palate. My fault as I should not have been that adventurous. Apart from that, couldn't fault the place. Service was great. Would definately go again if ever in Coober Pedy again.

Good local pizza bar with a good range of other menu items from yiros to pasta to steak to seafood. They also have some game pizzas- emu & kangaroo....plus a combo, Coat of Arms pizza if you dare.
Lots of seating in or outside.
Food was good, decent prices and good serving size.

Haven’t been here for many years.
New owner now but pizza still great and reasonably priced.
Drinks were great price also.
Plenty of inside seating in Airconditioned area.
Lots of takeaway pizzas headed out the door while we were there

If you are looking to eat in or takeaway, Johns Pizza Bar & Restaurant (Jpb) is well known and popular in Coober Pedy; located in the main street. There is at least a 20 minute wait for takeaway pizza as it can get very busy. This venue offers a large range of food covering pasta, seafood, grills, burgers and not just pizza.

Tired after a 10hr day of travelling, hanging out for a satisfying feed. Took our chances on the restaurant across the road from our accommodation. So glad we did! Very busy at the time we arrived and staff informed customers about the wait. Although we didn’t have to wait too long for our very tasty feed.
I could smell the authentic Italian flavours…yum! We ordered Pepperoni pizza, vegetarian lasagna which came with salad and chips (all very fresh) and garlic bread. Happily scoffed by us all. Most customers were ordering the John’s special pizza which had the lot. Wished I’d had time to see that as an option but oh well, gotta leave something to come back for!
We had some fun with the pizza box too (see photo attached).
Only dropped a point for the lack of service, no staff at the counter for a bit when I came in to order and confusion with distributing made orders (possibly new staff? however a senior staff member stepped in within minutes, calling service staff back to the counter and gained control over the orders) and the fact that staff could’ve made suggestions for sides and specials given lots of customers were tourists and not familiar with the menu. Just would’ve made the experience so much better. Overall, great feed, good experience. Check out the menu well before ordering.
There’s so many options.

It was Monday and the place was very busy we had a 30ish min wait, We enjoyed a cold beer in the out door seating whilst we waited. There were 5 vegetarian pizzas on offer I have never seen so many on a menu before. An impressive pizza menu all round with something for everyone. We both got the middle size available and the leftovers fueled us us for the next day. The pizzas were good I was quite impressed considering we are in the middle of outback SA. Hate to think how hammered this place gets in the dry season, maybe ring ahead with your order.

The staff here are all friendly and very helpful, service was A1.
These guys make the best pizza I've ever tasted, and on top of that they serve cold beer. What could be better? A hidden gem in the South Australian outback. Well done John and staff! We stayed in Coober Pedy 2 days and came here twice.

Our visit was spoiled by the 40min wait we had for our dine in food. This was due to them being short staffed. However we were informed of the wait on ordering & the staff who were there worked extremely hard. The pizzas were tasty but the experience was spoiled by it being over busy with people waiting for their dine in & takeaway food.
