After reading so many good reviews, I decided to book a surprise birthday dinner to my partner here. I called to the restaurant and asked for a more private table next to the wall, and explained it was my partner’s bday, and the gentleman who...answered the phone was actually friendly and said yes. Unfortunately once we arrived there, it didn’t start well as our table was reserved in the middle of the restaurant, between 2 other tables which were not more than 10cm distant from our! So my request was completely ignored...
We were attended by a blonde waitress who was definitely not in a good day, very rude and trying to rush us to do our order in a unprofessional way.
We have ordered an entree and 2 main dishes. After 2 minutes of having the entree on our table, she came with the main dishes... we found that too quick!!! We couldn’t even enjoy the entree as we got concerned the main dishes would start to be cold very quickly as it was freezing in the restaurant.
Regrettably my dish (which was the fish), was completely raw! We had to complain and she took it back to the kitchen with a super fake smile.. I had then to wait for them to do another fish, while my partner was eating alone on his birthday dinner...
We ordered a Knafeh as a dessert and sadly I saw her serving it, and she grabbed it with her hand to put on a plate (without even using a glove or a tong). Very hygienic, specially now with all the covid measures, it was super pleasant to see this that I couldn’t even touch the dessert, made me feel sick...
I think the only good thing in this restaurant was the wine, the wine was not bad, but the rest... really regret to have chosen this restaurant to celebrate such a special occasion.More
Went to Ballaboosta today tucked away in Halifax Street around the corner from Hutt Street. I ordered Samaki Harra (fish with a tahini, lemon and chilli sauce with pine nuts. It was absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of spices and complete with side salad...and flatbread to mop up the wonderful, plentiful sauce. My husband was going to order coffee and cake, but changed to Ballaboosta meats which was deliciously spiced lamb served with tomato and sauce on a flatbread. He was delighted with his choice and used his crusts to mop up the rest of the sauce from my plate. Flavourful, delicious and simply presented food in a great outdoor seating atmosphere. Will come back again and again. Would have taken photos but couldn’t wait to eat it!More
Ordered three Mezes to share between two! Kibbi was Spectacular, Falafel was over cooked/dry and nearly inedible... the really strong garlic tahini helped slightly. The Sambousik had flavour baut were not anywhere as decadent, or cooked as the menu promised. Because of the shared useating...arrangements outside, we were privy to the outstanding range of items on the menu. Despite our disappointment,(30%) we are keen to visit again and intend to bring our partners for a lunch or dinner.More
Food is good because it is something different in Adelaide and generally consistent quality. Can be very slow, particularly for coffees and drinks, have waited 20-30 minutes for a takeaway in peak periods.
The pizza was so delicious and we loved the vibe of the restaurant. We did not have have a reservation, but did not have to wait too long for a table, or for our food. Do try to make a reservation- as they get extremely...busy. Will most certainly go there again.More
