Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Steak was overcooked when asked for medium. Service was below par. Overpriced and definitely not worth the money!

Salty! Salty olives, salty chips, salty calamar. Everything was cooked well but we left with no taste left other than salt

Overpriced and overrated, but clearly a great money making machine when you can charge $72 for a Scotch Fillet, incorrectly cooked and looking very solitary, sitting on a plate all by itself. $19 for a single potato....really? I always wanted to try Gauchos. Now I...have and I won't be going back.More

Food was very good. Loved the Oysters Diablo and the steaks were some of the best we have had anywhere. Only criticism was the waitress was disinterested and would rather have been anywhere else. Expect better when paying these prices.

The restaurant was full of straight males all battling to eat the biggest meat and shouting with each other. Stupidly noisy and quite uncomfortable atmosphere. Very over cooked steaks and not once were were asked if they were OK. The men's toilets are abysmal and...unclean. Overall. A bad experience and would not go back.More

The food was excellent. The service was also excellent but there was a misunderstanding in the number of deserts we ordered but wasn’t worth the argument. The only real issue we had was the noise levels in the place did not allow for an easy...conversation.More

Having lived in Adelaide for many years it took a move to Sydney and a visit back to Adelaide to try this much revered restaurant. I was disappointed. I don’t mind paying a premium for great food and service but Gauchos didn’t measure up. A...group of 5 - we shared some entrees - the calamari was excellent - the empanadas so-so. Mains were all OK but didn’t live up to the hype - ribs tasty if a little dry and the mixed grill just a little bland. The porterhouse steak was cooked as ordered and tasty but super expensive. The chips were yum! The staff were reasonably pleasant and nothing to complain about but a little lacking in providing information about the menu and generally lack lustre. Overall it’s not that the experience was bad - it just wasn’t great and great was expected for the price. Probably won’t return - lots of other tasty options in Adelaide.More

Hadn’t been before and was looking forward to it. But it was disappointing. We were crammed in like sardines. Waitress was gorgeous to look off but rude. Steaks were rubbish. Very overrated. Won’t got again

I'm a corporate business traveller, and make it a point to have one meal at Gaucho's when in the beautiful city of Adelaide. I visit about 4-5 times per year on business. I try all sorts of eating places on my travels. My visits to...Argentina has shown me what what authentic cuisine from there looks like, tastes like and is presented like. This place Gaucho's is special. So authentic. Good location in the dining precinct of Gouger St on the southern edge of the CBD (free CBD tram ride). It's at the top end of very good restaurant prices but for a very good reason. 'You get what you pay for' so they say...and this is the case here. The service is fast (if you want it fast) ...I don't . I like to chill for a bit, check over my emails and even read the paper...they just leave me alone and no rushing me. They worked that out all on their own...that's a special service skill. The Gaucho's ale is served draught from a local lager SA brewery...a good drop too. My favourite meal is the lamb cutlets...(and not just 2 cutlets as you often see elsewhere) ...a solid meal for a hungry man. Side order of small chips and a glass of red and I'm sorted. I like to sit next to the big window where you can watch the chefs do their thing...an incredible set of skills in quality, speed and co-ordination. It's very popular (no surprises there) so booking ahead is a good idea. I'll be back in Adelaide again in a couple of weeks...guess where I'll be having my meat-fix? Craig from Sydney.More

It's a pretty popular place - we could only get a 17:30 booking and it's easy to see why. The decor is amazing, quite welcoming and cosy. Staff were extra attentive and helpful - one even notice a glitch in my bill (which I had...not) that saved me a hundred so that was awesome. Steaks are huge and extra good, even the one my son likes (i.e. charcoal). It's pretty expensive but you get what you pay for. We've been looking for a good steak place and we'll be back here in future.More

The food and service was amazing. The lamb was divine and my steak was so good. The bread and chips were also wonderful. Great wine list. Pricy but worth it if you like awesome meat.

An unreal dinner experience. Steaks where amazing with wickedly delicious sides and antres. Oysters where exceptional. Needless to say the bottle a of red washed it down nicely. Will be returning.

I came to Gaucho’s with my parents for an amazing lunch this Friday. My scotch fillet steak was cooked just perfectly; it was maybe the best steak I’ve had in my life; certainly the best in Adelaide. Gaucho’s has a lovely atmosphere, the staff went...above and beyond for us, our food came out so quickly and was so fresh! I have to recommend the chocolate ganache tart paired with an espresso martini; it was gorgeous. 10/10, we can’t wait to go back!More

The restaurant was full, busy and noisy and we absolutely enjoyed it all!!.It was unpretentious, the staff were all great, service was fast without being rushed. Our meals were 2 x the shared platter and it was the perfect choice. Very generous serving and a...takeaway box request was not a problem . The Don Pedro (?) dessert was a delightful surprise. We look forward to returning ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️More
