Great atmosphere and Great food. Steak is cooked the way I wanted. Friendly Service and quick. Knowledgable staff in terms or wine and food menu. Definitely will come back and highly recommended to visit.
My wife and I arrive around 2:45 PM for lunch only to find that the kitchen closes at 3: PM, a point emphasized by the sign on the wall, the waiter, and the guys in the kitchen who were anxiously waiting to see if we...would order something. We hurried, ordered the food, ordered a drink, and then ate the lunch - in short, don't bother with this place!
The steak was nothing like Buenos Aires, the chips were OK, and the huge pile of broccoli was so-so. If this is representative of Australian steak, then it's my last time ordering steak in Australia!More
The place is pretentious, noisy and the food is average. The young blonde girl that served us was not rude but just nothing, she should have been on a check out as there wasn’t a friendly bone in her body. We won’t be returning.
Steaks were great, but expensive. Atmosphere was a zero, table of four in a very noisy room, we couldn't hear each other speak. Asked if we could be moved and told no so we ended up leaving and going somewhere else for dessert and drinks....Made a comment when we were at the front desk to pay the bill and they said they could move us??? Lots of tables out the front free. Probably won't be going back.More
Reviewed many restaurants, before choosing Gauchos for a special Christmas treat for 4 adults. I was prepared to pay premium prices for a good steak & it’s accompaniments in what I thought would be a fine dining establishment.
Booked a table and thought we were...set for a good night out. On arrival it was clear that the table booking wasn’t noted. After frantic re-arrangements, we were seated.
Extremely disappointed by the presentation of the food.
A piece of meat the size of a lady’s palm in the middle of the plate and nothing else. Chips served in a bowl to share on the table, no garnishes or accompaniments like sauce/gravy/salad to go with the steak.
Steak knives were blunt, couldn’t slice through the meat easily. The meat was also unexpectedly chewy/sinewy.
Ordered wine to accompany the meal - low tide pour-it was definitely less than 150ml. Two/three small sips and it was finished.
I’ve had meals and entertained clients at venues with seemingly good reviews like Gauchos, locally and internationally. The difference is - they delivered as expected. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.More
The Saturday night when we visited Gaucho’s it was absolutely heaving and yet everything flowed smoothly, including a beautiful bottle of Malbec.... flowing straight down our throats!!! We were so impressed with Gaucho’s and we would not hesitate to go back as soon as the...next steak craving hits…..which in probably just as I type this review thinking back to it!
They had a special that day of a Ranges Valley 650g Wagyu Angus X Rib Eye and it was cooked exquisitely. It was a bit of a joke at the start, whether we could both get through such a large cut of meat, but there was no stopping us! It meant there was no room to finish off the excellent broccoli side dish…. it is great but it is huge!!
It was interesting that their online menu made reference to serving Mayura wagyu in their restaurant but that was nowhere to be seen? Hopefully something for next time.More
When I pay $60 for a piece of meat and a lemon, I expect the meat to be special. It wasn't. It was OK. My wife's was barely OK. The salad was not great, but I accept that you shouldn't go to an Argentinian restaurant...for salad. We enjoyed the chips, and the desserts were fine, if unremarkable.
At $60 or $70 a head, this would be a perfectly acceptable night out. At over $100 a head with one beer, this is just not good value. If you want a really nice piece of meat, look elsewhere, and if you want good value for money, don't even think about Gaucho's.More
