The menu at Cafe Michael 2 was diverse, yet easy for those who aren't familiar with Thai cuisine to navigate, and had options for everybody. The food is fresh, flavoursome, and is incredibly good value for money. We came with a group of at least 25 and everybody found something they wanted and enjoyed. The staff were incredibly attentive and accommodating, and the wait time was very minimal considering how large our group was. I had the chicken tom yum with steamed rice on the side and enjoyed every last drop.

The food here was simply scrumptious 😋 it’s best to go with a group so you can try a great variety of excellent Thai food. Portion sizes are large so please go hungry. Service was good and prices typical falling in the medium range. Ambiance is a little old fashioned but it’s light inside and we felt very comfortable. Recommend the green Thai curry and fresh vegetables.

We went for dinner as a couple on the weekend. We desperately wanted to love this restaurant as we were looking for a new favourite Thai. Although most of the food was delicious, our Massaman curry was very overcooked. The potato in the Massaman was so overcooked it had disintegrated. As a result the peanutty-ness of the curry was gone and it just tasted like bland potato soup. We were terribly disappointed. To top it off, we were unpleasantly surprised to find we were charged 95c per take away container (this in addition to a $130+ bill) so that we could take our leftovers home. Maybe we'll give it another go - but if we do, we won't order the Massaman.

Great location on bustling Rundle Street however not worth the stop when there is so much better on offer! The food was below average and as many other Google reviews it was watery, mostly flavourless and over cooked. We had the below food: • Entree: Chicken Satay The vegetables on the entree were noticeably old which was off putting but a nice starter • Mains: Drunken Noodle w Chicken and Crispy Beef The noodles were so soggy and overcooked The beef were in tiny over cooked pieces and lacking any flavour • Drinks: fine for wine and a short pour beer The ambiance is tired. Dirty ripped menus, chipped plates, tacky large ‘plastic coke’ water bottle for table water. Visited on a Groupon voucher- wouldn’t of wanted to have paid full price. If you are after Thai on Rundle street, I recommend Lemongrass or for more casual dining- Spices. Otherwise Yiasou George or The Stag is a far better option for food, value and ambiance!

Arrived and the decor is very dated and looks dirty. Plates are chipped and have a Mexican theme. Very strange as its a Thai Restaurant. Majority of the decor has an Indian feel. Not even 5 seconds of sitting down, asked if we'd like any drinks replying thank you, but you mind giving us a moment. The attendant; Eyes rolled and tutted. Well that was only the beginning of the night. When we did wish to order, we started to voice our request to the attendant, midway during conversation turns her back to us and starts to attend another table. Totally gob smacked we mentioned this to another attendant but fell on deaf ears. Service is absolutely abominable but we must say the meals were amazing. I'm so glad the service didn't reflect on the cuisine. Towards the end we were told to hurry as they need to clear it for the next booking. Didn't even get asked if we'd like to order desert. Need I say more ......

If you love good authentic Thai food ,do yourself a favour and go elsewhere . Even you local greasy spoon could server better Thai than these guys. The pandas chicken was wrapped in thin leafs and over cooked in a deep fryer. The prawn Thai rice had one prawn only. The Red Duck curry I ordered as a medium looked good but blew my head off with heat. I have had Vindaloo in India so I know hot. The Crispy beef and crispy chicken were also over cooked and deep fried. Not a good experience for my first and last time to order from this “Cafe” . On a positive note the order arrived on time. @%

We haven’t been to Cafe Michael 2 before so taking advantage of redeeming a dining discount via an app on mobile - The Fork to give this a try. We booked a Wednesday lunch time table for 2. Arriving at the front of the restaurant, not a very inviting entrance. The glass door and front windows were so grubby you could barely see through the glass door. Entering the restaurant, it wasn’t busy on a Wednesday lunch time at 12:30pm, and only one middle age female waitress working there. She was efficient and clearly knows what she was doing, but don’t expect any good attentive service nor a smile from her, because she doesn’t smile and looked grumpy. The menu choices were good, there were a separate lunch time menu available which I guess most people would be ordering from on this lunch time affair. We had to mention that we were booked via The Fork’s discount, she asked us to show her our booking from our mobile phone to prove that we have the discount, after showing her as she asked, she told us the discount doesn’t apply to the lunch time menu and we had to order from the main dinner menu which is obviously more expensive. The Fork diners take note! We ended up ordered a Pad Thai stir fry chicken noodles ($23.90) and a squid laksa ($25.90). Both looked fine in presentation but tasted overly sweet, it appears the chef has put in tons of sugar and if you close your eyes, you’d think that’s a desert instead! Yes we have been to Thailand many times and Thai food does and should not taste like this. Base in this occasion, and base on these dishes, would I say the food authentic? NO! Would I say the price justify both the quantity and quality? Absolutely not!! If wasn’t because of The Fork’s and having to pay $49.80 on these 2 dishes, it wouldn’t be worth it sorry to say!

We went here last night and the service was slow. We were among the first customers to order but it took more than an hour for our orders to arrive. We understand that it was busy night but the one of the servers was rude and even told us to be patient in a bad tone. We spent almost $350 at your restaurant so at least offer some good customer service.

Food was fantastic, and the waiter was great as well. My husband and I ordered a banquet for two, which restaurants done usually cater for. Our friends ordered separate meals and were equally happy with there’s. Our bill was a size-able amount but well worth it; plus we took some in a doggy bag for the next day.

Very poor quality food that has dropped substantially over past 12 months. I have better at any food court in Adelaide. The flavours were all out of balance, too much oil and overpowering lime in my partner’s beef stir fry whilst my drunken noodles were also in too much oil, overcooked and lacked texture. Shared chicken wings were over cooked.

Borderline poor. After reviewing their online menu, we thought this seemed to be a place that prepared and served traditional Thai food. 5 of us walked in around 6:30 for dinner. Plenty of tables free, only 2 tables occupied, one with a couple and the other a table of 6. We stood in between some tables waited to be seated while the waitress cleared tables and ignored us. You would think seating new patrons would be more important than clearing empty tables when your restaurant is empty, however that was not the case. After standing around for a bit we just went and sat at a table and went through the menu. Apparently eye contact from wait staff is not encouraged at this place given the time it took for someone to come and ask for our order. By this stage, the other 2 tables had finished and left and we were the only table, yet the “service” did not exist. Despite counting at least 7 people in the kitchen in addition to the wait staff, once our order was taken, the food took ages. So long in fact that despite canceling a coupe of dishes, they still appeared on our bill. So we won’t come back again but I do have a few pointers: 1. If you’re positioning your business as a Thai restaurant maybe give some thought to serving Thai food. And 2: know what to do when a customer says “Sawasdee” and “Kap Kuhn kar”!!!!

The food was fantastic, can't fault the food. Service was average. But trying to overcharge for items absolutely takes the cake! Ordered the large sparkling water (1 Litre) for $9.90 which was flat as a tack, this was replaced with the smaller bottle (500ml), but were still charged $9.90 for the flat sparkling water that was originally served. Were also charged for 2 x Gins that were not ordered or served to the table, then when this was disputed, the female server was adamant that the table had ordered 2 x Gins, which was a complete falsehood. Eventually $25.00 was refunded, but if an itemised receipt wasn't requested, this would never have been discovered. Trying to add extra charges is a sneaky poor practice, so double check your receipts.

Awful. Saw no Thai people. Poor service girl is in the wrong job. Suspect she is bullied by observations. Entree & mains delivered at the same time. Forgot rice ( Asian restaurant!) Now to the food - what a mess. Hope it wasn’t recycled …beef salad was drowned in fish sauce & chewy & salad was wilted. Suspect ‘duck’ salad wasn’t…Not sure - most burnt meat tastes the same. Gordon would shut them down. Recommend avoiding unless you enjoy a novelty.
