Had dinner here on a Monday night and it was very busy and extremely noisy, the food was very good but far to big portions. Staff were good except for a scot lad who was bit abrupt and not very communicative but maybe cause they were busy with lots of large tables to serve. Would highly recommend it for the food. Merc

Our group of mates always locks in a trip to Amalfi for dinner when we visit Adelaide for the Tour Down Under. In many visits over more than ten years it has changed very little. Sevice in this busy restaurant is a bit sketchy and staff aren’t particularly friendly, but this somehow adds to the charm and is likely compensated by the fabulous pizzas. One of our garlic breads and one of our pizzas failed to turn up, but we sorted this out with the final bill. We look forward to our next trip to Adelaide together and dinner at Amalfi.

Here for dinner. I had the Molluschi Pasta (with mussels , cockles and Olive Oil). Partner had Calamari Fritti (salt and pepper squid). Both the dishes where very tasty and large portions. The place was very busy both inside and outside seating near full, yet we where served quickly. Don't plan an intimate dinner for two here, as it is noisy and bustling with noise from the kitchen and waiters talking loudly. This place was a bit like a loud noisy Italian family meal and very enjoyable. The waiter was very friendly and despite being busy made us feel welcome. Near allot of the hotels and night life so convenient for a pre-night out meal. Prices reasonable.

6 of us went for a pre-show meal. The noise of the place was very loud as it was full so everyone was talking loudly to be heard. The service was very indifferent no one asked if we would like a drink on arrival and we had to stop a waitress to get her to take our orders for drinks. 4 of us had pasta all of which were over salty, the seafood marinara had broken shells in it , very chewy squid and was not enjoyable. The wrong wine was served with no apology, 1 person enjoyed the meal out of 6. This is the third and last time I have been to this restaurant and would not recommend. The atmosphere and food was very underwhelming.

We ordered 2 pasta dishes costing a total of $59, the pasta arrived in takeaway noodle boxes which made for a odd eating experience. My pasta Amalfitana was one the menu as having artichoke & dried tomato, there was one piece of artichoke and 2 tomatoes. The rest was just overcooked linguine, tomato pasta sauce and odd tasting spinach. Which I had to add extra sauce to and reheat. My husband had the Amalfi pasta which was on the menu as being served with a creamy chilli sauce, we asked for no chilli which was left out but the sauce was not creamy and quite frankly not nice at all! Overall was a waste of money and a disappointing meal.

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza which is next door so we dropped in here for dinner before going to a show later in the evening at the fringe festival. When we arrived we were the only diners who didn't already have food, everyone else was eating or almost finished. We were seated and ordered wine. After about 5 mins we were asked if we were ready to order we asked for a little more time and that was a big mistake because it took almost 20 mins to get there attention again to place our order. We ordered our food and more wine as our glasses were now empty. After another 20 minutes I asked how long our food would be and was told 5 minutes. During this whole time order after order was going out the door being picked up by food delivery services. I noticed the table that had arrived after us were also looking around trying to get someones attention to ask where there food was. 10 minutes after being told that the meal would be 5 minutes there was no sign of it arriving and the guy at the other table was at the bar asking where his food was. By this time about an hour after we walked in the door we would have had to inhale the food to make it to our show in time so I went up and cancelled our order and received indifference and no apology, I then asked if they expected me to pay for the wine and bread we'd had when we were living with no dinner. They took the bread off the bill and charged us $40 for the wine. Unless you're ordering takeaway don't bother because they don't care about you and based on the other reviews the foods not that great either but I would't know would I because I waited for an hour and received no food.

Ever since I came to live in Adelaide four years ago, people have been telling me to come to this restaurant. A couple of times we’ve tried to get in but it’s always been booked out. The place: Well it’s pretty plain, and very noisy. Used the bathroom and the tap seemed like it was about to come off I my hand and no paper towels to dry your hands. The service: One waiter was actually very good, the other not so much. Maybe not enough staff on or something? We had drinks orders not show up and waited for over an hour for our mains to arrive only to find that they’d forgotten our order. Apparently the waiter who cleared the table after we had our starters mistakenly thought it was our mains and we were finished (or that's what we were told). The food: Honestly, I was expecting Italian style with subtle flavours and quality ingredients . What we got was more American (think Dominos), so not really that impressed - or at least it didn't tick the box for me. Absolutely no interest in returning - reminds me of the kings new clothes.

We made a booking and on arrival were told we had to sit outside. Our booking had been confirmed, but we were not notified of where we would be placed. We preferred to be seated inside and after discussion, we were given a duitable table. We ordered our drinks and a bowl of olives. We asked three times before the olives arrived. I ordered garfish which were overcooked and served with hard baked potatoes and a limp salad. My husband had veal with mushrooms which was adequate. We waited for over half an hour for our meal. A forgettable experience.

Thanks for your feedback. Why you choose to do this on a public forum rather than via the follow up email is disappointing. Unless you specify where you’d prefer to seat we will make decision depending on a range of factors which include at this time of the year the fact that we extensive outdoor seating due to the Festival season. Half an hour is not long to wait for your food.Remember, when you walk into a full restaurant, you will get your food after every single person already sitting down due to the time honoured “First come first served” principle. As George Constanza once eloquently put it “We live in a society Jerry!”. Restaurant 101: If you are in a restaurant and you are unhappy with something, let the staff know there and then. That allows the venue to fix it right there and then. The options: re-cook, replace or remove from the bill, restaurants want you to be happy.

We ordered the zingarella for all 3 guesses on the night. We were all very disappointed when the food came out! There were not one single whole prawn in our pasta. All broken pieces and only few pieces in it. All pasta and sauce. Given the dish coasted $32.50 each, it was a complete rip off. When we complained, the head waiter or may be the boss - named Frank, laughed and said next time will be better - couldn't get local prawn. What a bull excuse, If the ingredient wasn't available, then advise the customer before hand and shouldn't charge the full price. Never go back again.

Consistently sourcing quality Australian ingredients is an ongoing issue for our establishment and indeed all restaurants in Australia. Our wholesale suppliers sometimes have to change change or they go out of business or market forces change and a higher price for that products is being offered overseas. As a result we have been unable to source whole Australian prawns at a price anywhere near the budget of the dish and we recently have experimented using broken prawns, a local product. By using this product we were able to offer more protein per dish and consistent flavour. However the trade-off is aesthetics; no whole prawns sitting proud atop your pasta. We have had a lot of feedback similar to yours in regard to this change. As a result we have changed to a whole prawn product that is still a wild caught Southern Hemisphere oceans product but not processed in Australia. Food costing is a fine balance between quality and perceived value. The reality is that seafood and beef are expensive ingredients to buy and that expense is increased when the labour to clean and cook that product is added in. I regret I came across as dismissive in person. I felt it was clear to me at that point that we should change the product. The decision process to source a new ingredient and then integrate that change of ingredient takes a few days at the minimum in any food business. Maybe I should have spent more time explaining this and food costing 101 to you. But as you have chosen to characterise me as speaking ‘bull’, essentially describing me as lying to you, you indicate a basic lack of manners and I suspect that any further explanation at the time of our interaction would have fallen on deaf ears. Feel free to contact me personally at the restaurant if you wish to discuss this further.

The best pizza and pasta we’ve had in Adelaide! Great friendly service and generous serving sizes. One person in our group has severe allergies and they were more than happy to cater for our needs. The meals were delicious and in our group of eight only one person was able to finish their meal because it was so large. The food looked so delicious that we forgot to take a before photo but have included a couple at the end of our meals. Highly recommend dining here! Next time we’re in Adelaide we’ll come back.

Haven't stopped talking about our amazing meal at Amalfi's last Wednesday! We eat out 2 or 3 times a week but this great place is No 1! Haven't been here for years (moved south onto a farm) but will be back as often as possible. I have severe allergy to anything hot and spicy but the marvelous young Chef made me the best Spaghetti Marinara I've ever had! Sublime! My husband's pizza was- as everyone else has said -.fabulous and delicious! The Maitre D was perfect, and staff very attentive, personable and understanding. Thank you, all Note : reserve your table or you'll never get in !!!

Adelaide’s slice of Rome The previous night we did a walk up and could not be fitted in, so from there we knew we needed to go back. Well tonight we went back, from the minute we walked in we felt like a part of the family. A busy busy place but everything works and the personalised service is amazing. The waiter gave us his thoughts on what was good and at no stage tried to up sell us anything, he even suggested we downsize on serving size and he was right. We had the mussels and eggplant for entree and both were amazing, followed by the mussels and veal for mains #mindblown. The coffee afterwards was first class and to finalise the experience Frank the Manager suggested a glass of Montenegro which I had never had before, he provided two of these free of charge and WOW what a special way to end a special night..... thank you Frank and Team. When Frank discovered we were out of town (Canberra) and that we were heading to Hahndorf and Barossa he suggested and wrote down places that were worth visiting. Hey Frank and Team .... we will be back 🌟

Ordered Con Pollo pasta and a garlic Bread through Uber eats. I ordered from here as I expected a Main meal size and wanted to get something quality and payed extra as I have dined in the restaurant before. $30.95 for a small Asian takeaway box of average dry pasta really not worth the price. I could have ordered from some of the local Pizza bars or Cafes and would have paid less and received more for my money and better quality. I feel ripped off and probably wont return to dine in person anymore. Way overpriced for the size and quality. Don't offer deliveries if our going to send it like this and charge what you do.

Unimpressed with my dinning experience. A simple request to have some cheese melted on oyster Kilpatrick was decline by the kitchen staff. Main meals were delivered to our table before our entrees arrived and the base of the pizza that we ordered was over cooked. I had not eaten at this restaurant before but had heard good things about it. After my experience tonight I would not go back again.

We were welcomed without a booking into a very busy restaurant on the last evening in May; ideal table for two towards a back corner away from larger group tables; comfortable spacing around tables; attentive and timely service by Nick; pricing is relative to quality and quantity of food; and level of service. After arriving in Adelaide after 4 day fine dining experience we enjoyed less formal dining experience at Amalfi; also very handy for Crowne Plaza patrons. It is unfortunate that most more recent reviews on this App have a less than positive tone as this was not our experience. We would return if we found ourselves in Adelaide CBD again.
