Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great service, but expensive for serving size. Ordered grilled prawns entree @$26 and seafood linguine @$42. 3 grilled prawns in shells for $26, and a rather bland small serving of linguine with really small pieces of fish and a couple of mussels. No scallops, no...prawns, no calamari. We each had one drink, mine was orange juice, and the bill was $290 for 3 of us. If you are happy to also order a heap of sides to top up the main course, and don't mind an extra $100 or so on the bill, then you should be fine. Otherwise, it's not the place for average income individuals wanting a satisfying feed.More

We stopped in without a booking on our way to the ballet. We were lucky enough to get a place at the bar (overlooking the kitchen) which was actually really fun to watch (though a little warm from the fire grill!). The food was excellent,...staff were friendly and Sean was even there and came over and had a chat. Unfortunately we had to make it a quick dinner, it would've been great to have the time to linger and enjoy. Highly recommended. Extremely good food, great atmosphere. No downside!More

I highly recommend the food - very well presented and great flavour. I think the attitude of the wait staff and the service is possibly the most intentionally bad service I've ever experienced. Our booking was for 6.30pm. We arrived at 6.45pm - we generally...are not late but had trouble navigating our way from the car park to the restaurant. We had the booking until 8.30pm, when the next sitting was due to commence. Our waiter had a quite poor demeanour - unfriendly and very transactional. We ordered our food at 6.55pm. One of the orders was steak. At 7.05pm, someone appeared at our table and advised us that they couldn't guarantee that the steak would be ready in time for us to eat, given that our booking was until 8.30pm. They said nothing more, but just walked off. All our meals arrived at around 7.30pm. They were, as described at the beginning of the review, very nice. We were left in peace to eat the meals. At 8.05pm, a waiter came over and dropped our bill at our table, stating that we needed to be out of the restaurant so that the table could be ready for the second sitting. We had not requested the bill. The person from our table who went up and paid the bill expressed his dissatisfaction. I think what's most concerning about the experience is that a number of people were involved in the above; it wasn't just the one waiter. I would not recommend Sean's Kitchen as a place to eat. I have spoken to two of my friendswho have had similar experiences.More

glass of champagne on arrival - don't mind if i do! Nothing like some Billicart to start as you mean to go on!! Love Love Love the ambience of the place, high curved ceilings, old style lamps set around.... (it's on the side of the...railway station so easy to get to!) Started with a couple of oysters - the freshest i've ever had did not need the vingarette at all, then scallops with a butter sauce - simply sublime.... For mains we got the breaded pork cultlet and murray cod, both delic. The sides of grandmas carrots (i'm not a fan of carrots but would def order these again), popcorn cauliflower - not a fan of i think it was star annese, but crunchy and otherwise tasty.... the lowest point was the chips - i found rather dry and overseasoned (a shame as i love chippies!!) .... the red was a great local drop! This place isn't cheap but well worth a lookMore

Fun with the open kitchen, and very interesting watching the cooks working. Nice premises, and very good food. Popular place, so it is necessary to reserve table (at least for dinner).

Prior to writing this review, I read several reviews which gave poor ratings for this establishment. I cannot comment on those, except to say that I have been a patron here on several occasions, and I have found this establishment to offer consistently high standards...of quality in food and service. This is one of Adelaide’s premier restaurants, in terms of offering high standards of food and service, and overall hospitality. It’s located on North Terrace, nearby to the CBD and the cultural precinct. Principally, it’s a steakhouse, offering an array of high quality aged cuts of beef. On my most recent visit, I had the steak tartare, which was excellent, followed by the seafood pie, which I thought was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared and a treat to eat. If you wish to visit, I recommend you make a reservation to avoid disappointment, as this is a very popular restaurant. And, frankly, for the quality offered, I consider it represents good value for money. An ideal venue for a special occasion.More

Six former business partners met for a semi regular catch up. The food was very good and the wines were also. I along with some others had the 250g wagu steak and weee not disappointed. We started with shared plates of antipasta. The wines went...well with our meal. Good unobtrusive service. Not a cheap experience but well worth it. Afterwards we went upstairs to have aquiet ale overlooking the oval and parkland from the rooftop bar. A most enjoyable long lunch.More

I dont understand why you bother to ask for comments/requests when making the online booking. I confirmed more than once, as you asked, that it was a special occasion with important interstate guests, to please give us a well located table and good service but...when arriving two tables were quickly pushed together to accomodate us and our table was seated next to the staircase. Dont feel special do we? It took so long for the waiters to take our very first drinks order, that we had read the food menu back to front. Our table was very thirsty by this point. Fortunately drinks were swiftly served during the rest of the night. After that it felt that we were again forgotten with several servers running past us, we were eventually able to place our food order. At this stage a young waitress took over and we felt we were in much better hands service-wise. Starters arrived. The scallops were smaller than my thumbnail. The soft shell crab rolls were fine. As good as any you would buy at a food truck. The crab cheese starter smelled and tasted more than tuna than crab- it was weird and not very tasty at all. The main course crab shnitzel was terrible, the medium ordered tenderloin was served so rare that it was difficult to cut through it, The crab linguine...not sure where the crab was- did not smell good. The mushrooms blah. The dessert ice-cream peanut butter was delicious and the waitress pleasant, confident and efficient. It was very busy, so others seem to like it ? The manager did not even make eye contact when we paid, did not thank us for our visit or enquire if we enjoyed it. We have been to Seans several times but i felt ill after this visit and sadly doubt we will return.More

The food was excellent However, when it came to the bill, we were shocked to see the drinks order had been doubled and we were charged for additional serves. We noted our waiter talking with cashier as we were checking the bill. And when we...queried the extensive overcharge she promptly adjusted the bill without reference to the wait staff. This would appear to us to be an orchestrated rip-off. It was interesting that neither of the senior waiters were present when we went to pay the bill. They had mysteriously disappeared. Such a shame as it was a nice atmosphere.More

Well to be honest I am not a big meat eater so there is not a large option for me on the menu. My personal tastes are no fault of the restaurant but at the same time I have to give a rating which is personal to me.
