We chose this place based on reviews and weren't disappointed. The food was superb. I had L'Escargots followed by the Bouillabaise and both dishes were wonderful. I couldn't recommend the bouillabise more highly. Wine was about $50 a bottle, which I thought was a bit expensive, but it was worth it to accompany the excellent cuisine

We (2 adults and 2 children of 10 and 11) had dinner on New Year's Eve at Delicatessen and WE ALL LOVED IT! The food was really French (I'm French and very hard to satisfy with French food!!!), very tasty, fresh. The snails were so smooth, the pissaladière tasted like in Nice, the sausage like I was in Toulouse... The wines were great and the staff extremly friendly although it was a very busy night. We highly recommend this restaurant and would return with great pleasure if we lived in Adelaide.

My wife and I dined at this establishment last night. In arrival we were seated quickly and given a run down on the steaks available as they change regularly so are not listed on the menu. For entree we shared the pork & thyme meatballs, blue cheese sauce and the prawn & salmon fish cakes with dill mayonnaise. Both we very nice and a definite 5/5. For our main course we shared a 500g steak, which was accompanied with a blue cheese sauce a salad and there homemade fat chips. The chips were hot and lovely and crunchy and the salad was lovely and fresh, the steak on the other hand was unfortunately pretty average, when the wait staff told us the different cuts they had available I wasn't familiar with the particular cut and we both found it a little bit chewy with limited taste, I blame myself for this as after the meal we spoke with our waiter again and she explained it was a hanger steak, if I had asked more questions before ordering I would have ordered something else, but that being said it was still quite edible. The wine we had was a Shiraz from a Kuitpo winery and was very nice. The overriding positive from the evening though was the lovely staff, we will definitely return

We are a family of 5, visiting with a 5year old. A lot of places don’t cater for younger taste buds but the delicatessen happily whipped up a delicious ham and cheese pizza. We had the mussels, beef cheeks and the steak all of which were amazing. Portions were large and fresh. A highlight was the patè, I could easily sit there with that and a loaf of bread and leave very very happy. Service was prompt, helpful and happy; which always makes a huge difference. We will be back. Highly recommend

My wife and I had been looking forward to celebrating my Birthday at this restaurant. My wife has a shell fish Allergy but when we looked at the menu before going we noted that they did not have many shellfish items on the menu and lots for her to choose from. When we got there, not only where we disappointed but one of their signature dishes was not on offer, they only had 1 left of another dish and half the menu we were told we could not have as they deep fry it all together, when we questioned the fact that they promote items as being Gluten free and Vegetarian, how can this be if we order this food they said that the friers are together and that they are cross contaminated so there for we cant say its ok. We had ordered charcuterie board at that stage of which even some of that was not acceptable. Mind you it was the worst displayed board I had ever seen. So with that in mind our only option was to finish our glass of wine, pay our $60 for crap and leave. The waitress could not have been happier when we said we were leaving. Very disappointing and we will not be back. Went to Scilly in Rundle street and had a great rest of the night.

Delicatessen kitchen and bar
Hi there, we do our very best to cater for all allergies and believe us there are allot these days. As you mentioned we do have a large menu so we do run out of things from time to time. Our fryers are not 'cross contaminated' we have a meat fryer and a vegetarian fryer as a shellfish allergy can be very serious we chose not to take the risk that someone had made a mistake. We think had we had some better communication between your selves and the kitchen you may have had a better night we will accept responsibility for that and will work on it. I personally served your charcuterie plate and made sure it was perfect as I was aware of your dissatisfaction at that time I think to say what you had here was crap is nothing short of a mean and untrue. We also partially opened a $110 bottle of wine that you ordered and didn't accept. We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your evening but we do feel your review is quite nasty and doesn't reflect your experience fairly

Was very much looking forward to trying this place. Sadly it didn’t live up expectations. I understand COVID has changed things, we were told when booking that you have 2 hours to complete your meal. We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated by polite staff. Ten minutes after being seated we ordered our meal, we asked if we could have a 20 minute break between entree and main, we were told if they had time and were again reminded of the 2 hour limit, but we were told may 15 minutes. Our mains came out and were as hot as Lava so we couldn’t even attempt to eat them for 15 minutes. My husband had the Bean Cassoulet with duck which was quite bland in flavour; the seafood bouillabaisse I ate was nice but not fabulous. Our plates were taken after main and desert menus were immediately dropped on the table and we were again told no pressure but times up soon, so if you want desert don’t wait. We didn’t have desert as we were over being rushed. Wouldn’t go back for dinner, maybe a lunch?

Over rated by far, food was ok but that is all it gets in an OK! Ordered special steak and steak was what I received, not even how I ordered it? Pubs around Adelaide do just as well. Over cooked and fatty, pepper sauce, well peppercorns on your steak was what I received, just disappointing compared to other reviews. Just expected a whole lot more as we are very spoilt in Adelaide for food.

Went for a belated Bastille Day lunch with a good friend. While not on the lunch menu, Ally and the chefs were very accommodating about letting us order the chive and raclette croquettes (which I have had before and had already raves about to my friend). We shared them along with the shallot and goats cheese tart for entree. An amazing start!! We then shared the beef cheeks for main (sort of a deconstructed boeuf bourgignon) - rich and delicious. Dessert was also shared - chocolate fondant with croissant ice-cream. While the food was truly excellent (it wasn’t my first visit today and it definitely won’t be the last), it really was the service which made the difference today, and made the whole experience really special. Thank you!

In one word - ‘EXCELLENT’ . Great welcome, very helpful and friendly but respectful and knowledgeable wait staff and the food was over and above expectations. The steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered, bouillabaisse an absolute delight and the duck leg dish sublime. Highly recommended .

Delicatessen is a favourite lunch venue for me as I work nearby but this was my first dinner visit. It did not disappoint! The four of us decided to share three entrees/starters: 2 types of snails, baked brie and prawn & salmon fish cakes. For mains, two of us had the duck with mash (I had decided ahead of time that I was having this & it was a great decision) and the others had the steak special and beef cheeks. We also chose a couple of vegetable sides. Although we were getting full after all that and it was close to the end of our sitting, the friendly wait staff suggested that we could move to the bar for dessert. We opted for the bar downstairs in the cellar and managed to make short work of madeleines with citrus curd, tarte tartin, nougat parfait and creme brulee. A perfect way to end a superb meal. A special shout-out to the staff. All our wait staff were friendly and attentive and that complemented the excellent food from the kitchen staff.

Nice little coffee shop/restaurant. We went for breakfast. Coffee was ok but not good enough for a second cup. Breakfast menu limited. We ordered a fresh fruit and yoghurt bowl and a Granola bowl but got 2 fruit bowls. They were delicious.

We had a great Friday lunch here at the cute little bistro. Good wines/ bubbles by the glass, really nice food and fabulous service. All the staff were really friendly, professional and attentive. The fish patties with salad were really good, as was the French onion soup and the meatballs and salad. The ambience is lovely and we will defiantly return

The meals were more like a pub meal and not to the standard of a true French restaurant which we thought we at for the price of meals. Pork scratchings were not edible. Salmon was served with boiled cold potatoes. Fillet Mignon was tender but with burnt bacon. Average food for the price.

Late decision made on a Friday evening, no issues with fitting us in for an early dinner. The truffle sausage and pork crackling hair on the Charcuterie platter to start were great and moorish and the pate well whole different level. Followed by the Cassoulet was rich, tasty full of beans, duck and pork sausage. Downed with some great French red wine and to end with the house crème Brule.......Yes must put this place on my return list......
