Wow. We walked in exhausted from being out in the 42 C heat, to a pleasant atmosphere and a great selection of food on the large chalk board. My husband had eaten here before and speaks very highly of Peel St. The menu changes constantly (apparently), so we order 3 'small' dishes and 1 'larger dish' for my family of 4. 'Small' is quite an understatement! Those small dishes are indeed very generous. We literally had too much food for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The flavours were awesome. The sashimi dish was divine. I cannot fault the food at all, a very clever chef/team must be behind this. We squeezed in 1 dessert between the 4 of us, which was also stunningly presented and extremely favourable on the palate. Do yourself a favour eat at Peel St.

A night to remember
Peel Street has a great atmosphere with a number of top restaurants and this one is not to be missed. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff courteous and attentive. We had a group of 13 and went for the $65 set menu. Often this disappoints with small serves but not on this occasion. The flavours of the food are spectacular and the wine list has lots of interesting local options. Nobody was disappointed and highly recommended.

This Resturant food is full of flavour and the portion size are generous. Meal should be shared. Service is good and if you don’t have a reservation, may not be able to secure seating. Better to reserve table. Been here twice and their food quality is really good. Highly recommend to dine if you are visiting Adelaide, Australia.

I took my staff out for Christmas dinner, menu recommedations made by waitress didnt match my request. Food ok, both meat dishes too rich. The services was lacking we had to self pour our wine and ask to see the wine list for a second bottle, the only time we had attention was when they wanting us to leave for next sitting and it was not a busy night.

The short read... Very average. More interested profit than quality..
The long read.... I had heard this place was good and had been meaning to go for a while. The stars aligned and here we were on a Wednesday night. The place was quite busy.
First disappointment was the wine list. Mainly bottles on offer and a sparse selection by the glass. Being a red drinker I chose the 1 glass of Shiraz from some obscure winery that was in my mind a cheap quality. Surprising given that we are spoilt with a selection of quality wine on this state.
Our first dish was fried eggplant and zucchini which was quite good.Tasty and fresh.
The second dish was the Lamb shoulder. I think that the recipe for this dish could be quite good but in my view it was not prepared well. The lamb seemed to have been reheated by placing it on the grill and drying it out. It was described as sweet an sour but the flavours seemed to be unbalance and overpowering.
Service was Very attentive boardering on "hurry up pay your bill and go".
Being local I know there are better eateries in Adelaide

This is almost a hole in the wall on Peel Street but it serves some of the finest food we had in Australia during our 4 week tour. Fortunately we had reservations because it fills up quickly after 5 pm and then the wait can be long. The menu changes constantly with dishes appearing and disappearing. We split a great salad. I had one of their fish specials. It was great. Do go!

We dropped in after seeing the high ratings on here, and what a stunning find! On a Wednesday night at 7pm the only space was at the bar, which tells you how popular the place is. Seating was comfortable and we got a first hand view of the chefs at work in the small kitchen.
Food is designed to share and ordered from a small list of menu options on the chalkboard. We ordered the Vietnamese salad for starter and the Thai beef for main. They were big portions as they were for sharing, and each option easily enough for 2 adults. Given the cost of $30 for starter and $40 for main, that was good value for double meals.
And the food... was stunning! Great delicate flavours, large variety of fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. Informal but attentive service complimented the food.
What a find. Worth visiting Adelaide for.

We just arrived in Adelaide today and our concierge recommended this restaurant near the hotel. We went there too early for lunch but the staff were super friendly and offered to reserve a table for us when we returned in time for lunch. We ordered the salmon in curry with noodles and it was fantastic! The serving is huge and it was really tasty!! It was a spicy dish and we loved it! We also ordered the mascarpone dessert with figs and it tasted great with my cappuccino! This is a must try restaurant if you’re in adelaide.

Called in a 5pm to see if there was a chance of a table and a look at the menu. They don’t open til 6 but were happy to chat and show us the blackboard menu on the wall. They were fully booked for tables but offered 2 seats at the bar, which looked straight into the kitchen. We accepted and came back just after 6. If you get the opportunity, take the seats at the bar! It’s like sitting at a chef’s table and was really great watching the team at work. The staff were friendly and helpful with their food and wine recommendations. We had the banana blossom chicken salad and the pork belly. Being “share plates” these two mains were more than sufficient, and could have fed three people easily. The food was sensational…fresh and zesty Asian fusion style.
We really enjoyed our meal, and the seats at the bar were actually a bonus. I’m so glad we took that option. The bill for 4 glasses of wine, and all the food we could have eaten came to less than $130. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.

Had a short holiday in Adelaide and decided to have the first dinner here and what a great experience it was.
The wait staff were very friendly and suggested that 3 dishes would suffice. It all looked amazing so choosing only 3 was the hardest part.
We ended up with the banana leaf salad with chicken, crispy felafel and the yellow kingfish curry and it was all delicious. The portion sizes are really large so the 3 dishes between 3 of us was adequate.
The wine list is good too. I am keen to go back and try the rest of the menu. An awesome start to our holiday!

Great dining with generous servings. There were 5 of us and we had planned to order 4 dishes and were encourage to order an extra one. We really didn’t need the 5th dish, which was the fish and chips and our least favourite dish. Loved the ocean trout sashimi, banana blossom salad, szechuan tofu and the ricotta dumplings with lamb. We returned the next night to have desert, both of which were amazing.

Outstanding meal - fresh, full of flavour and plentiful! Two work colleagues and I dined here on a warm Wednesday evening. The restaurant was packed so we grabbed the last table, out the front in the lane. The waiter came and served us immediately giving us recommendations, water and returning with a delightful bottle of rose. We had 3 share plates - middle eastern dumplings filled with ricotta and silver beet, battered zucchini and a dish with chargrilled bread, broadbeans etc. all vegetarian as one of my colleagues was vegetarian. I wouldn’t normally choose vegetarian dishes but my oh my we’re these noteworthy and so fresh and full of flavour! Will definitely visit again!

I am not sure why I haven’t been here sooner.
Hidden down Peel Street, Peel Street Restaurant is a real find. Welcomed by a wooden door exposed brick walls give a lovely warm feeling with industrial touches.
The menu is displayed on huge wall mounted blackboards with an array of palette tantalizing choices.
Each menu choice is generous to have as a main meal as an individual or as sharing plates to sample several dishes.
I sampled three dishes, Ocean Trout Sashimi, Banana Blossom Chicken Salad with a tamarind flavored dressing and Mulloway fish & chips all totally delicious, full of fresh ingredients with fab flavours.
A must if in Adelaide.

Chicken blossom salad as good as usual.
Pork belly Ok.
Beef very disappointing. Far too rare. When there's a large group of us and we order 3 serves of it and each one is far too rare, it's not a mistake- we expected it to moo and walk off the plate.
Service good

Ate at Peel St restaurant tonight and it was great. The food is clean and fresh, service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant, really enjoyed the meal. Came from Sydney to see an exhibition and tried a few restaurants while I was here. Wish I had come across more chefs in Sydney who were as talented and without ego's as these guys. And points for managing the kitchen so effectively - even like the plates being stacked without noise and clanking. Well done.
