First and last visit to the British. Booked a table at 7pm for 6 people and arrived on time. We were "told" to go and have a drink at the bar, and by the time we were finished it, our table would be ready. Three of us ordered the chicken only to be advised in an insolent manner they were... More

Staying in North Adelaide we are surrounded by history and buildings that just beckon for you to open their doors. Spotted this Pub up the road from where we are staying and popped in for a drink at the bar which led to a fabulous dinner. My pan seared salmon was excellent- so tender and accompanied by a apple and... More

Was returning form a work appt with a colleague and we decoded to have lunch at the British as neither of us had been there for many years. We had a couple of rib eyes and really enjoyed the perfectly cooked steak. For a quick but relaxed lunch it was great.

One of the oldest hotels in Adelaide doesn't mean the quietest. Busy Saturday night for dinner and drinks. Food was great, as was the service. but being a bit of an old architect fan the building was the winner for me. The British has a fairly diverse menu for a pub and the prices certainly aren't over the top. If... More

This used to be a great old style pub but the beer selection is pretty abysmal and it has just lost the atmosphere that it once had.

A wonderful old pub (built 1837) with terrific service and atmosphere. Great to stop off for a beer/wine sitting around the bar or dinner. The side bar is a treat especially in the winter with its roaring log-fire and sofa type seats

When do I start?!! Firstly, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated before realising no one was coming to help so we seated ourselves. Then we went to the counter to order and the waitress was not polite or friendly, she seemed like she didn't want to be there. Oysters were also not available. Went back to our table... More

Been coming here for the last few years always outstanding service and food. However last nights dinner was amazing. The lamb rump with yoghurt dressing and cous cous salad excellent. The rib eye was also outstanding. Annie's lane cab merlot made the meal complete. Many thanks

Great rib-eye cooked a lovely rare. The barman was great in his beer & wine knowledge. We would have stayed longer but a day in the surf took it out of us.
