Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Arab Steed has been an old favourite of ours for a very long time but the last couple of years we have felt less love!! We keep returning every so often, just to see what we think but it no longer is 5/5. This...time it had probably been a year since visiting, but it was lacklustre like a few times before. We ordered the schnitzel ‘heroes’, which this time was Californian, with bacon, pineapple, spring onion and cheese, and, although flavoursome, the schnitzels had been WELL overcooked. It was only the VERY inner middle part where the chicken had any moisture left. No big issues with other aspects really - we received the table we requested at the time of booking, so it’s good to see they read the notes, and the wine list is basic but fine….but the delivery of the food onto the table was slap dash and rushed (a chaotic feeling when it wasn’t even that busy!) and tomato sauce in a small individual container instead of a bottle (also slapped down on the table!) would have been better!More

the title says it all, i'm usually a patient person but the elderly male bartender was genuinely the worst and most inattentive service person i've ever had the displeasure of encountering.

To be fair The Arab Steed is one fine establishment set amongst a quiet yet beautiful part of Adelaide's CBD. The service is also super friendly and keen to have a chat and a laugh. Honestly though with a load eateries under the belt one...has to remain strong. Pictured here is the staples all done well with their chips high on the radar. The schnitzel house special was enjoyed packed with flavour. The cottage pie though decent size just lacked something even a sauce or gravy may have lifted it. I feel also ot may cater for a certain demographic.More

Wow. Has this place gone downhill. Roast pork tasted like yesterday roast reheated. Really bad over cooked vegetables. Barramundi served with wired sides. Bar staff overcharged me by $100.00 for simple order. Been a regular customer here for many years but no more. This place...is BADMore

I went to the hotel for a Theatre Critics Circle meeting (held in an upstairs room) bit as soon as I approached the bar, the friendly and efficient Emily took my order and then continued to look after me and my colleagues all night. Emily...has a great spirit and make the whole visit warm and memorable, Also, I’m not meant to be eating chips but they are awesome here as well worth the guilt!!More

We think the chef has used the recent covid closure to work on perfecting their fantastic crunchy schnitzel crumbing!!!!!!!! We still mourn the absence of the Oscar sauce from the menu but the pepper sauce was a hit! BIG plates of comfort food, a chilled...bottle of Vermentino, espresso martini to finish (sadly a little watery) .....ahhhh Friday night contentment! Don’t know what it is but this pub always feels like home. Was great to see the beaming smiles on the staff glad to be back in action again! Good, quick and genuinely happy service flows when there are restricted numbers of punters :) As customers we wouldn’t mind if the dining restrictions stayed this way!!!! (Just joking).More

Our favourite Adelaide pub proved itself once again. Incredibly impressed that even at an absurdly busy time during the 500 the food came out even faster and even more piping hot than ever!!The two schnitzels = 11/10. Unfortunately the whiting was a little bit overcooked....It was great they agreed to crumb (hate batter!) but ‘twas a teeny bit toooo crispy! Will keep returning again and again regardless!More

My brother & I were at the Arab Steed before we went to the theatre. It is a popular & reliable bet for good food & service. My 12 year old friend loves the booths and always suggests this place when we are deciding where...to go. My one issue in relation to the food is that as a pescatarian/vegetarian my choices are limited particularly when attempting to avoid fatty food. My Eggplant Parmigiana was superbly presented with lots of lovely fresh salad Vega but hidden underneath was the eggplant which had been fried in batter. This particular batter was ver difficult to remove unfortunately. Otherwise it’s a great place to go as is evidenced by enthusiastic support of many people. It is always busy there.More

All we wanted was a good pub feed and we got that. Parmy, bangers and mash and lambs fry and bacon. All dishes were large and done very well. There was a lady (kate) who was running food and collecting empties. She did a great...job. If you are after a unpretentious place that does great old school pub food, aswell as plenty of modern options this is it. We will be back.More

We recently visited the Arab Steed Hotel, Hutt Street, city, several times and have enjoyed a variety of roasts. It is quite a hub and the meal is basic but very nice. The small roast is very generous in size but if you prefer and...want a very large one that is also available. The meal is usually served with 4 vegetables, not roasted, but seem lovely and fresh and well cooked. It has been very busy on our visits and appears very popular. The atmosphere and service is warm and friendly. For a good honest basic roast at a very reasonable price, I would very much recommend a visit.More
