Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a long flight we needed a good meal and somewhere to relax, this fitted the bill perfectly, beautiful surroundings, excellent service and delicious food.

Had a great night cap at this funky and stylish bar. Michael, the barman was attentive and knowledgeable. We ended up discussing rum and again. Knowledgeable! Tried a Venezuelan rum which I would not have been game to do without guidance. Recommended!

The food and service were very good to excellent. The wait to get someone to take order was a bit long but not too bad. Definitely would be back and worth a visit.

We went to Apoteca on visiting their website and looking at their menu which sounded great but a new menu started the night we arrived and was a wonderful surprise. We went for the 4 course Chef Special tasting menu. The diversity of food and...flavours is special. Be prepared for great food, lovely surroundings and special staff. If I lived in Adelaide I would be back for the experience again and again.More

APOTECA was highly recommended on TripAdvisor. We booked and even were pre-charged $50 AD for the reservation (which in my opinion is wrong) We arrived early and no one was there. A VERY UNFRIENDLY young man sat us down right near the entrance door (it...was freezing cold outside). We asked to move and we are escorted down to the cellar. AWFUL- in the basement and a large party making all sorts of noise. We were supposed to celebrate our 30th anniversary which I had requested a nice table! We proceed back upstairs and asked to be seated. We almost left however I remembered I had already paid the $50 fee. We finally are seated near the waitress station. All during dinner, wait staff hitting the back of my chair and dropping the heavy menus right by my ear. Young man never cracked a smile and just seemed so annoyed. (He's the WRONG person to have as your host) Best service came from the owner, a very nice woman named Paula. She was attentive, friendly and caring. Staff not so! The food was DELICIOUS. It came hot and very tasty! Very reasonably priced too.More

Apoteca is a beautiful restaurant. Our family of 5 includes 3 young adults, we were there for a special family celebration and were made to feel very welcome. We chose to have the 4 course chef's menu for $70 pp. The crusty bread and dukkah...were a delicious way to start the night. The Kingfish with watermelon was an interesting twist on a classic and was lovely and the zucchini salad was very generous and tasty. The mains comprised beef and lamb with a huge bowl of roast potatoes. We chose to add on one of each dessert - not because we were still hungry but were keen to try them given the food was so good - they did not disappoint. The wine list in extensive but the cocktails are the real highlight here given the beautiful antique bar stocked with more types of gin than I knew existed! Great value and delicious food. We'll be back!More

Intimate space. Good service. Prawns a little dry. Lamb course followed by beef main course unusual choice in chef selection. Fish instead of lamb or chicken would have been better choice.

Service Poor and Food Average. Ordered a bottle of wine which was whisked away from the table. Only problem was the waiter didn’t ever bother asking if we needed a top up. In the end I had to ask for it to be put on...the table. Ordered ham hock as a main which was huge and had so much bread it could have fed three people. My vegetarian main was similar. Way too large and bland. Oh and visited the restrooms to find a random toilet brush out of its container lying on the cubicle floor. Can’t say I would rush back.More

Celebrating our wedding anniversary with our ‘original’ wedding party, our adult kids and their partners, was a delight at this excellent restaurant. Looking for a Saturday night table for 10 during Mad March only three weeks out (thanks to the poor operation of Peel Street...Restaurant that we gave up trying to hold of), I wasn’t sure we could get a table. However, Apoteca responded to my first enquiry and the process was painless. The series of simple questions I had to make sure it was suitable for our celebration, and sorting the dietary needs of one of our guests, were answered in a very helpful and friendly manner. Unfortunately due to the late-ish booking we couldn’t get the mezzanine which sounded ideal (thanks Peel Street!), but after a chat we booked the cellar. Escorted down a narrow flight of stairs, the red brick space was divided by arches and a thick wall, and one entire side had the character of a giant wine rack. Our group of 10 fit neatly into a section that was almost like a private room. Unfortunately due to the hard surfaces it was a little noisy and hard to hear, but we were told that was a possibility when booking. (Had the mezzanine been still available…!) Being a group we were restricted to the Chef’s Selection Menu. We chose the 5-course version at $85/head which included dessert. Despite my dislike of being told groups MUST choose only from a set menu (I don’t like being told how I can spend MY money in THEIR business), the meal was excellent and my objections became meaningless. After realising the beautiful crusty fresh bread with oil and dukkah was additional and not one of the courses, I relaxed and enjoyed what was to come. Each course was completely different, one adventurous, the last two meat dishes generous enough to feel fulfilled, and the dessert topped it off beautifully. We didn’t take the wine pairings but hit the drinks menu regardless with OUR choices! Our maître d', Michael (he was too good to be just called a ‘waiter’), was totally professional, thoughtful and frequently visited us, and his two younger support staff also did their job well. The last thing of note is that we did not want to be rushed and at our initial enquiry we were assured we would not be. So, after nearly 4 hours and over $1,400, we left feeling like it was money well spent. That’s 1,400+ we could have spent in Peel Street if we could get hold of them - but I'm we didn't in the end!More

The ambience is excellent, great music and not too loud and great service. As entrees, we had the bread and paté which we enjoyed very much. We both chose the fish as main, which was equally delicious. We will be back.

We had the most wonder set of meals a few weeks ago. The food was magnificent and the wine matching outstanding. We were in a constant dilemma: was the wine enhancing the food or was the food enhancing the wine? Each course provided a different...answer, the over all experience was delight. A wonderful evening.
