A very relaxed, grimey bar serving really good beer and doing a deal on burger and a pint. $21. We went in the evening, was noisy enough to make having a conversation hard work. Would say a good place for a night out, maybe not a good place for a date- well, not the first bar. Maybe after a few... More

A busy pub serving a good selection of beer and good meal deal on burger & beer. I had a falsfel burger that was humongous with a lovely bitter to go with it. The place overflowed with customers and guzzling jugs of beer on a weekday. Must be crazy at weekends.

Food and atmosphere were great . Pool table, good friendly service, open fire, close to city centre.

I was a regular punter here in the 80's when The Austral was "punk", it has now become much more clean cut but maintains a bit of a hard edge. Bar staff friendly and drinks were good. Food is your standard pub fare. Fish and chips I recommend. Nice fire in winter. Options to sit outside during the warmer months.... More

The Austral is a pretty damn good pub - good specials, good food. But the dining room is noisier than the Clipsal track on race day and desperately needs something in there to soak up the noise - even half full it sounds like there's 200 people in there. Aside from that, love it.

Nice outdoor atmosphere, food is very good ( got the burger) . Drinks menu is good, a lot of draft beer selection, staff very friendly.

Popped in for a quick drink about 1800 hrs but it was so crowded with Bohemians that we thought twice about having food as well. A very lively atmosphere matching the Exeter across the road. When one spots the classic colonial frontage from a distance you can almost predict the crowds

Visited during the fringe and expected it to be busy and it was..place is still a bit run down compared to most but i guess it appeals to some as people turn up.The beer i was served was either flat or glasses dirty, when i asked to change it i was asked what was up?after some explanation my beer was replaced... We went twice, once to sit in a window seat watching the world go by with a huge plate of nachos and cold beer, the second occasion was for a meal and a beer before going to the Adelaide Fringe in the Garden of Unearthly Delights. Good food, well presented.

A good selection to choose from in both food, wine and beer. The service was high quality as was the food. I would certainly return and probably had my best meal in Adelaide during a short trip.
