Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thought we’d check out Lucky Lupitas after reading that it was a go to institution in Adelaide. Sadly, it was one of the most disappointing and below average meals I’ve had in a very long time. My rice bowl was so spicy I could only...eat a few mouthfuls. The nachos we ordered for starters was a plate with about 12 corn chips, on top of about 3 tablespoons of bland guacamole. Although the staff tried to be helpful, the service was haphazard; the waitress dropped 1/2 a meal on the table and proceeded to clean it up with a dirty looking cloth into her hand! Was genuinely scared we’d have a case of Montezuma’s revenge that night Was overpriced for the substandard, inauthentic “Mexican” food that was served up. Think you’d get better quality at GyG or Zambrero down the road!More

Great Mexican restaurant on O’Connell St North Adelaide. There is a variety of options for vegetarians & vegans. The cauliflower & haloumi tacos were delicious.

Incompetence at its finest I have never seen such a multitude of stuff ups in my life. From the arrival to the departure, they never failed to disappoint. We booked a table for 5 and they tried to force us onto a tiny table. I...ordered a tap beer. Some unknown brand. It was totally flat and actually stale. Yes, STALE. And the staff just said, “that’s how it’s supposed to be”. I observed through our stay that no one orders their tap beer. Totally over priced at $7 when you can order real beer for $8 a stubbie and more volume. We ordered food and it arrived in a slow trickle, one at a time, 5-10 mins between each guest. I ordered a Burrito. I got a Chile Corn Carne. Yes a Corn Carne. That should have been another guests meal. They can’t even spell the Mexican food they specialise in. Another guest got my Burrito but it was a bowl of shredded meat and not in a Tortilla. Another had the Nachos but had to pay extra for guacamole. Are you kidding. What would the Mexicans say about that! The staff seem to mean well but are the absolute epitome of totally incompetent. The table next to us of 8 all had been given the wrong orders. They spent 5 minutes laughing and swapping food around. Our table piled up with spent bottles and glasses but even when food arrived, no one had a thought to clear anything. The Chile I didn’t want was so spicy it was hard to put down. I tasted the enchilada I should have had. It was not too bad. Then came the bill. Of course the declined and returned stale and flat beer was still on the bill. Had to argue that one! The mojito was $18. Our guest had to specify that it was not a non-alcoholic one. A past experience at this place proved that this was necessary. Otherwise they presume the NA version. Same price. Pretty sure these were NA. Anyway. Allegedly new owners here. One would presume that the level of quality would improve. Not a chance. It would be funny if we were not paying stupid prices for basic food. It is criminal how this place, in swanky North Adelaide can produce such totally poor service. Wake up Australia. Start watching Guy Fieri on Diners Drive Ins And Dives and see how they do quality food in US. Never going back and I’ll spread this story everywhere as they need a huge wake up call and Australians should stop accepting such total garbage food for stupid money. We really are the laughing stock of culinary delivery over the entire world. No pride, max profit.More

This was a family favorite but since our last visit it has deteriorated beyond words. Food, service, drinks (cocktails) all very ordinary. Won’t be going back.

Good proportion sizes but their food was often lacking in balance. We had their burrito, bowl, and enchiladas. All of their ingredients are fresh, but nothing spectacular or justifiable of the prices charged. Could very well get the same quality of food for a lot...less money. Good vibe and friends staff was probably what ultimately compensated for the average food.More

Busy night in August. Good vibes. Food took absolutely forever (over an hour for Mexican? Ridiculous, no matter how busy it was). Service average at best (no drink refills offered once during above hour+ wait). Food was pretty good though and the wait was compensated,...so that's a plus. Might try again when less busy.More

What happened to this place? It used to be good. Meals are now overpriced, lazy, late and tiny. Prices are ridiculous- Quality Mexican places in Melbourne and Sydney are better quality, better atmosphere and better priced! $10 for a lonely taco; $29 for a fajita...that you have to wrap yourself. Dry brown rice and beans. Coleslaw served in tiny dish is nothing special. Waited far too long for such tiny meals. I won’t be back.More

The food was Authentic, unlike most Mexican restaurants, the tortillas were real thick and chewy like they should be... they could have been fresher but hey the best I have had here. - but very over priced for small servings - wheres a maccas when...you need one LOL no never that desperate, but I did eat when I got home I had a chicken enchilada - medium entree size as a main $24 - worth $15 the dish was excellent, well made, flaviours were spot on, the tortillas could have been fresher. My friend had the Chicken Nachos - Well made as the Mexicans would make them, not a crispy corn chip insight and caramelized shredded chicken rich in stock with just the right amount of cheese - not over done, authentic not like the US fast food imitation. cant remember the price... but would have paid $20 for that plateful, it looked a far better buy than my tiny but tasty plate I found the service excellent... we arrived as they opened for dinner, no other customers around.More

Aside from the service which was absolutely terrible: (items ordered that never made it, our meals brought out 20 mins apart) the food was not good at all. Fish taco was nice (hence I ordered another that never arrived) but the corn was over cooked...ie grannies boiled corn rather than grilled, and the cauliflower taco was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever encountered. It should’ve been great bit the taco itself was stone cold, rubbery, and so greasy. Ghastly! The papas bravas did not, for anyone that’s been to an authentic Spanish restaurant, remotely resemble what was advertised. These were McCain’s crinkle chips sprinkled with paprika. Avoid.More
