The first night we had take away as they didn't have enough staff to service the tables. The wait was long, but the food was really good. It did take 40 mins to get our drinks though. Two nights later we dinned it. It was TERRIBLE. The $40 Gold Band Snapper was so dry it was crunchy. Our entrees turned up after we had finished our mains. The poor manager had copped it all night from some really agitated patrons.

$34 for basic pasta dish, andrhen they added $3 for gluten free pasta out of a packet!. Never mind paying extra for gluten free service, but this seemed over the top. . Do not recommend for those with special diets, but no other options if here. The positive is that staff do provide good advice and food is well prepared - they are just limited by the menu and adequacy of stocks. Probably good if you can eat a standard diet.

Burgers were great for lunch, pizza available for takeaway and at lunch. Smallest steak was 300 g which is too much for me but men in our party stated that steaks were cooked well. I overheard a few diners (including in our party) stating that a chicken parmy would have been good. Menu was somewhat limited. No sand crab available during our 5 night stay. Wil , is an extremely cheerful person who obviously loves working on the island. When his bar ran out of my husbands favourite beer, he took the time and trouble to run upstairs to the other restaurant foe supplies. Also Maya who was working her very first shift, was super friendly and bright

Food was very average if not less. We ordered starters and mains, the mains came out first.. the waitress was not happy that we wouldn’t accept them before we got our starters. Starters came and we got the garlic flatbread which was inedible, then our steaks lacked flavour and were not cooked to How we liked. With only 2 restaurants on the Island this is not acceptable

Ate at Inkstone twice in our stay: once for lunch and once for dinner. It was definitely our food highlight. We recommend the sand crab linguine, grilled fish special and the sticky date! Staff were lovely. The only weird thing was us was the pop music blasting- it didn’t really add to the ambience of evening dining. Maybe a more instrumental playlist would’ve been more appropriate for the atmosphere. Staff were awesome and food was quick! We booked prior to our stay based on advice from other reviews and had no issues.

We visited Day Dream Island as a family (8x4-8 year olds) and 7 adults. 15 in total. Our meals were focussed on enjoying our surroundings and having high quality food. We were there for 6 days and enjoyed most of our food at Ink stone. We enjoyed 3 dinners, and 2 lunches, We also enjoyed the takeaway pizza and other takeaway dishes. Our experience was wonderful. In all cases the food was excellent and we were left with dishes that just stood out. The adults were very happy with what we were provided with. The truffle, mushroom linguini was a dish that will remain in our memory for a long time. The lunchtime Salt and Pepper crusted Squid was outstanding. Later on the Barramundi fillet was a great choice. The point of this review is to say that the service, the food provided, and the general ambience of the restaurant was exceptional. I have travelled the world, and Australia, visiting many restaurants, and will remember this restaurant for many years to come. i think the aroma and taste of the Truffle Mushroom Linguini will live with me forever. This restaurant is well led, it is a great team effort for adults and children, and the chef and his kitchen staff provide the highest quality food in all settings. I admire them all very much and congratulate and thank the staff (service and kitchen), for what they did for our family. The considered service for our 8 young kids, and the mature service for the adults was to be admired,. This team of people is an exceptional example of food excellence, and styled delivery of quality dishes through outstanding personalised service. I give Ink Stone the highest recommendation I can provide. Thank you all.

Great food and drinks! We have dined here multiple times during our stay on the island. Highly recommend the espresso martini’s and the oysters. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Service was very quick only waiting up to 20 mins for our meals. However the menu is very limited. It would be nice to have additional items on the menu such as risottos and chicken Parmas

You are on an island with only 3 choices of dining. When with family you don’t really want fine dining and kids generally don’t eat Asian. Inkstone is the middle mark of the 3 options on the island but they love to turn you away because there is no availability. You ask for takeaway then limited to what you can eat. There is only so many times you can eat pizza and chips. The male manager was rude and didn’t care for customers needs. Not once but several times, I observed this quite a few times with other guests. The food options ruin the entire experience.

Had flexible kids menu. Amazing Waygu cooked perfectly! Mushroom and truffle linguini superb and like nothing I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, you need to book four to seven days (at least) in advance to get a sit down evening meal. Positive side you can takeaway anything from the menu other than the oysters! I didn’t think to take any photos of the food other than the takeaway pizza we got a few nights later

Food took over an hour, forgotten/discarded until we inquired. Wagyu wasnt wagyu, trout wasnt trout. Desert was overpriced and microwaved with a spoonful of icecream. Recommend the chips though, those were pretty good. To summarise; disappointing, buy the cheaper options so doesn't feel as much of a waste of money

This place stinks; its is fourth rate. The views are magnificent. The waitstaff are under trained, rude and incompetent. The chef is worse. Captive on an island with only two other options, I urge you to go elsewhere.: swim if you have to.

Generous share plates, and good meals. We were on Daydream Island five nights so pretty much tried most of the meals. Lovely, no complaints. Most of the staff very helpful. Especially enjoyed the visits by the Bush Stone Curlews ...

Ordered a simple fish and chips. The Salad that was served to 2 of us was rotten and rancid. We were all chatting and just took a mouthful. I had no choice but to physically spit it back on the plate. I looked at the other plates and saw how rotten the salad was . It was so visibly repulsive , it was obvious they tried to sneak it past the diners instead of throwing it out. Other tables also complained. I have never had such vile filth put in front of me in a restaurant anywhere. On the plus side, the hostess was lovely and couldnt apologize enough. Unfortunately, its hard to come back from what happened. It was horrible.

One of the best meals we’ve had on any island stay. Great service. The new F & B Manager (Steve?) made a point of coming over and saying hello / introducing himself. The reviews about DDI and the restaurants are very harsh and not always warranted. Reviews can damage a business considerably. At a time when Covid is affecting their guest numbers, it would be preferable to see fellow Queenslanders supporting Daydream Island rather than being so hasty to tear it down. Don’t take everything you read as gospel. Take a chance, be brave and experience it for yourself.

Well worth a visit. It is located at the north end of the island, with the visitor accommodation blocks. Staff were good, food was good, and the views are stunning. Try the bar at Inkstone for a drink in the evening. The views are better than at Tonic bar in the atrium, and during our stay it was much less busy. Inkstone also does take away, and childrens’ meals.
