From the moment we arrived we were treated like special guests and several staff wished me a happy birthday. The food was excellent and every-one enjoyed their starters and mains. We'd taken our own birthday cake and it was brought out for the blowing of...the candles and then taken away to be brought back beautifully presented on dessert plates with a scoop of ice-cream and crumb. Well worth the $5/person extra charge. No requests were too much trouble for the staff. Our guests who don't normally do fine dining were very impressed.More

I’m not sure Townsville is known for its fine dining experiences but our meal here was a delight and most certainly first class. The food was excellent…in particular the duck dumplings and the scallop starters. The slow cooked lamb and roasted chicken were also pretty...hard to beat. A great wine list with plenty of offerings by the glass at reasonable prices. Although the water top-ups could have been more prompt, otherwise the service was superb and most friendly. All in quite a pleasant informal setting. We’ll be back next time we are in town.More

Service upon entry wonderful and welcome after long day on the road. Canned beer a bit disconcerting, but did have a good range, so can't expect same to be available on tap. Not much of a wine drinker so can't talk to quality/ price. Entree...a taste pleasure all round our table of 4. Service continued to offer drinks while we experienced a bit too long wait for main. It was busy though at about 70% capacity. Looks like an early crowd so get in before 7. Main fish disappointing. Tough and tepid. Duck a little more appreciated, but aftercwait and at the price, didn't live up to entree. Feedback did render an offer of free drink or desert, but really not what we were looking for. All in all has potential, but probably best to pick a quiet night when supplies of fresh produce assured. Solid 2.5 stars.More

Was a great night with great service and a delicious meal, what more to ask? Gnocchi was different but beautiful and the roast duck was exactly what I wanted. We also tried the scallops and the damper and it was also great quality and delicious....Leave room for dessert and try the panacotta (with Limoncello jelly and a few other delightful morsels). Yes it is pricey but treat yourself you wont be disappointed.More

Absolutely wonderful. Excellent service, excellent food (see pics), nice and quiet, great atmosphere. We shared the scallop entree, each had the rib fillet mains, and shared vanilla + elderflower panna cotta for dessert. I am aleays a bitt reticent about ordering steak, as I have...had many instances where it is not cooked as I wish, but the chef at A Touch of Salt excelled.More

High quality fine dining experience. We ordered a combination of 4 starters/entrees and all arrived hot, quickly and superbly plated. One of us cancelled their main as the entrees were too satisfying. Staff were more than accommodating and went out of their way to please...regarding the main cancellation and the winelist; offering tastings to boot. Despite full stomachs 2 desserts were ordered and demolished Outstanding service and food all round. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to others. Very much appreciated A Touch of SaltMore

Things have certainly changed since my last review. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Menu has variety and meals are simply beautiful. Staff are awesome. Fine dining at it's best. Congratulations and well done. A Touch of Salt is now one of our favourite...restaurants to dine at.More

The management and staff are a 12 out of 10 - cannot fault. The location is good. The ambiance is good. The flavours of the food are good. The food itself is good if you like 'fussy' food. The damper is wonderful, the desserts are...perfect, the main courses we had were disappointing. I don't expect to pay $37 for fish to get only fish, and decoration, nothing else. A lady on another table ordered duck without mushrooms and greens, to get duck without anything, including sauce. It looked terribly bland. She wasn't happy. It seems there is not one option on the menu to have any kind of potatoes done any way, only sweet potatoes. Its a great restaurant for vegetarians. I would go back for the staff if not anything else, but its not my kind of food. In this case, you don't get what you pay for.More

My girlfriend and I decided to eat here as we have heard a lot of our friends talking about this place. Food was amazing, could not fault it. The only issues were we sat outside an I was getting bitten by midgets. There were also...a big group of indigenous people sitting not to far from us yelling and screaming at each other, at one point one of them was pushing there trolley off the stairs and it tips causing his alcohol bottle to smash everywhere and just leaving it. The staff were excellent though checking we were okay every time they heard them yell.More

Sorry but I am not part of the restaurant, I was merely a very happy customer. But if you ring 4724 4441 I am sure they will be able to take the cake there yourself before you actually take your friend there. Hope this helps.
