We were given a great table without a reservation on one of the busiest nights of the year. Maybe we were lucky as we dined early, about 6pm. Our waiter was very attentive and informative regarding the specials of the day. Although one of our drinks were forgotten, all food was perfection. Eye fillet and barra was so good. Shared a banana cannoli which was devine and fought over. All in all I thought this experience was good value as we both had entrees and mains with drinks and a dessert for under $200 for fine dining. A fabulous last meal for the decade.

On both visits, I was here with a large group of friends and on each occasion I had the 2 course set menu (there is a choice of foods) which is $35 and includes a drink (there is a good choice). The food is very tasty but my only critisism was that the menu had not changed and I ended up getting the same main meal again which when it came I wish I had gone for the fish and chips. I had Pad Thai which the second time round, wasn't as tasty as the first time but actually DID look better on the plate than the first time I had it. I did try someones chips and oh my, they were gorgeous. Served coated in what tasted like vinegar but was gorgeous. Reminded me of good old fashioned British chip shop chips :) The service was very good but the 2 people who were at the check in desk were quite rude. Their signage for which way to come in to the restaurant wasn't very big so all of us missed it and all got the same brusque treatment of telling us to come in the other way. Lets face it, first impressions DO count for a lot! On the 2 occasions that I dined here (for lunch) there was a Jazz band playing who were excellent. I would come here again.

Came here for a nice dinner. Was extremely happy with the food, the service, the atmosphere and the prices were reasonable for the quality. We ordered the market fish, a snapper with a sweet potato puree and a rocket and fennel salad, it was delicious and they even catered for my onion intolerance. We also had the pork belly which was crispy and the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The beans and brocollini and the pumpkin, beetroot and goat cheese salad just topped it off. We ate everything and didn't leave a scrap of food, definitely recommend you visit the team at Zinc while in Port Douglas! Thanks for a great meal team.

Did I make a poor choice but I was very disappointed with the service and my food tonight in Zinc. My companions enjoyed their starters which looked good. However I was presented and charged for a starter I didn’t order. For my main I ordered the lamb loin and chops. They arrived on my plate with a smear of purée and nothing else. They were cold and the chops were pretty tough. I had to order a side of potato at 10dollars as I couldn’t eat a plate of meat with nothing else. The service was terrible and we had empty water glasses and when the water arrived it was warm, and waiting 20 minutes for a cocktail. The manager stayed away when he realised we weren’t enjoying it. Not up to the standard of the prices they were charging. Hopefully just a poor night.

Zinc is located in a great spot in beautiful Port Douglas. However, the food is average and overpriced. My friend and I were there recently and both ordered the steak - the steak was cold and incredibly fatty. The waiting staff are rushed off their feet - having to greet and seat guests while trying to take their orders. Very disappointing experience and wouldn't return or recommend.

Won't serve most beers in a pint glass because "there's no button on the register". Cocktails OK. Squid entrée very good (I think they called it "baby cuttlefish". Mains (two nights running) were ho hum. Fish dried out and average, steak tough, stringy, poorly grilled. Pumpkin salad was awesome... Truly something else. Waiter recommended the wine for fish - most expensive in class - very poor match for food. I selected my own shiraz with the steak. The wine saved that meal on day two. Look eat at your own peril. Not great but not the worst. Apart from faux somalier the service was good.

I booked this restaurant specifically because they had a seperate vegatarian/vegan menu. Unfortunately this was the typical vegetarian dish that ‘can be made vegan if we tale this out’ meaning you get less for the same value. Whilst I appreciate places trying to adapt and accomodate to the largely growing vegan culture, the meals offered were exactly what can be ordered from the resort we are staying at, a pasta, risotto or salad.. I opted for the risotto which was a big bowl of over salted mushrooms, I couldn’t finish the meal due to the level of salt. Our wait staff was friendly enough and my partners steak was neither here nor there. Beautiful atmosphere and restaurant, just a shame on the expectation to let down on the seperate vegetarian menu. The Banana Colada however was amazing and I would return specifically just for this!

Quite good food. I had a seafood pasta which was tasty and light. However the service let the food down. Slow service, wait staff talking to each other, not monitoring requests for service. We actually had to intervene to help a table next to us get a glass of wine that they had been struggling to register with wait staff. A maître d’ who did not walk the floor or push the staff. When you charge $45-50 for a main course this is not acceptable.

Travelled recently with my family (inc a 2 1/2 yr old and a 4 1/2 month old baby) and went to zinc for dinner. Food was amazing. Prob one of the best seafood linguine I’ve ever had. My daughter loved the grilled fish and veggies and the dory fishes in the fish tank was a real pleaser. My son has just started on solids and we had been struggling to get food made up for him due to his limited diet. The chef and wait crew very kindly made him a carrot zucchini and fennel purée that was so amazing he finished the whole bowl. I can’t express how much I appreciate them going above a beyond for our little family. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, wine and fishy fun.

Zinc is quite large (and expanding terrace space) with plenty of interior and exterior seating. We sat on the terrace on a beautiful evening. Our waitress was very good but I think the staff was stretched a bit thin as the restaurant was 2/3rds+ full. We were in no hurry but there were definitely a few gaps in service. Also, the menu had recently changed and the one dish my wife saw online that caught her fancy was no longer available. Regardless, there were plenty of other options to work thru as well as a pretty extensive wine list to compliment our meal. My barramundi was perfectly prepared. The fish tank by/in the bathrooms was pretty cool as well.

After being told by three sets of friends that the Zinc Restaurant and Bar was a must dine place when in Port Douglas, we were left with little choice and happily it did not disappoint. Situated at the Four Mile Beach end of Macrossan Street, it is a large restaurant with plenty of nocturnal atmosphere and lots of Alfresco dining areas. The menu choices are a bit limited. We had the Sate Chicken as entree and the Beef Bourguignon and Saffron Risotto as main course and all were excellent. The service was excellent and the wine list is exceptional, with prices ranging from around $40 up to $180 for the connoisseur. So you now have four RECOMMENDATIONS all rolled into one, so how could you go wrong!

I hadn't dined at Zinc for about fifteen years so on a recent visit we ate there as it had been recommended by friends. We weren't disappointed. The food was of a really high quality and wait staff were professionalism personified. This is a highly recommended place to dine while visiting the area.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here on our last night in PD. It fell on a public holiday but we were lucky enough to get a booking (albeit a little on the late side). Definitely recommend booking in advance if you want to be eating at an earlier time. We were allowed to have a drink in the bar area while we waited which was a nice way to pass the time though. It's a very, very busy place and I feel like the service does suffer a little bit because no doubt the waiters have plenty of tables to look after at any one time. It wasn't bad service by any means but I felt like our waiter was always rushing. We couldn't fault the food whatsoever. I had the seafood linguine which was absolutely divine and my wife had the barramundi which looked and smelled delicious. Even the bread we ordered for the side was excellent. Yes, it's a little pricey but well worth it!

Delicious food and high standard of presentation and service. Felt my choice double cooked spatchcock was a little underdone ( pinkish) but the beef dish of my partners was superb, (her description as I am teetotal. ) But our serving staff ‘Piper’ made the evening. Great attention and positive under pressure as efforts made in these COVID times to accomodate customers in the limited seating opportunities was handled well.
