About
Whether you’re in town for a wedding, a work-do, chill time with the other half or passing through on a road trip north, no self-respecting blow-in could stake their claim on this beachside village without having tackled a T-bone at IronBar. Quite frankly, you haven’t been to Port Douglas if you haven’t been to the IronBar. Bang in the middle of the main street, the IronBar is pretty much synonymous with “ripper of a good time”, whether as a restaurant, bar, state-of-the-art gaming lounge or mecca for social shenanigans. We’re a popular dining destination, a steakhouse with a lip-smacking range of your favourite chargrilled meats.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went with a couple friends for drinks on the weekend and was treated by a young guy with blonde hair who I believe was the manager or host. Was yelled at by him and treated very poorly by security. I understand theres rules in place...regarding going into the mens toilets but the way I was treated was very aggressive and humiliating. I was cooperating and apologising as I just needed to use the toilet. Their was no need to swear at me and treat me like garbage. Was also told to not make a scene by security or they’ll drag me out when they were the ones making a scene and treating me like a criminal meanwhile in the next bathroom stall 5 girls were in one toilet racking lines. Highly disappointed in the new management and the way I and a couple other people that same night had been treated.More

Food was superb but very pricey. Our account was incorrect so we waited at least 15 mins to get that sorted prior to leaving. We understood due to the current climate (COVID) but I guess it would had of been nice to offer at least...5% discount or even a sincere apology for the oversight.More

Nice atmosphere in this busy grill bar style eatery. The service is really good. The young ladies work very hard, in fact all the staff do. Grilled prawns in entree were a highlight. Our friend enjoyed his lamb shoulder. Overall the meal was very good,...timely in presentation and we would return.More

We came here for lunch because they seem to be the only restaurant offering the Prawn Bucket option now. Initial experience wasnt great due to the grumpy man at the front. The other wait staff were great but that one guy needs a holiday or...something. Won't be back.More

Menu looked awesome, was expecting a great meal as prices indicated quality food, wait staff had no idea what steak they brought to our table, nearly tipped it of the plate onto the table, another waiter said ‘I can’t pronounce this’ (carpaccio) steak was not...the quality as described (Angus dry aged scotch) $68, $28 for two sides made for an expensive under whelming meal.More

I had a superb eye fillet steak with charred carrots etc: all perfectly cooked and very tasty. Followed up with some brie and crackers and quince jam etc. Also very good. id not enjoy the Shiraz but staff were very helpful trying to find a...glass of red I would enjoy. Overall, not a cheap meal - but a very good mealMore

Ordered the $150 wagyu steak, maybe I expect too much and not to have 50 grams of unchewable fat and gristle. Taste was fine, also understand wagyu has a higher fat content and a sirloin has a fatty cap, this was through the cut Wife...ordered the pork ribs which came untrimmed with the joint still attached. Again $50 for a rack of ribs maybe offer more than you can get from a local Pub. Ordered a couple of sides, veggies had an inch of water in the bottom of the bowl, the chips were the bottom of the packed bits and pieces. If you pay a premium price you come to expect a premium product. Maybe I had a bad experience… maybe the product is over priced!?More

Such a shame the pricing put a real downer on the experience - nice (non aged) steak but no way near worth $64. I reckon at least 30% over the top

Amazing food and fantastic service. Could not fault this restaurant. Our favourite dinner during our visit to Port Douglas. Recommend the brownie dessert and the Toblerone cocktail.

Service was excellent. Atmosphere was good. The food was good but very overpriced. We had 2 x $70 steaks plus 2 x sides. All sides are an additional cost as steak comes with nothing. The steak was well cooked and good quality, but not $70...fine dining good. In my opinion, it was equivalent to a good $35 pub steak. Very expensive night for a pub meal.More

We have visited Port Douglas many times and have enjoyed the Iron Bar’s food and atmosphere. In the past. The food is still great, but! The inflated costs of dining here put a dampener on the night. Meals are served without sides making a basic...pub meal with a couple of sides $60+ per serve. Not the place to take a family out for dinner. If your not cost prohibitive you’ll enjoy the experience, alternatives are not as plentiful in Port as they once were.More

Our food was absolutely amazing here and the cocktails devine!!! We both had steak, mine was one of the best eye fillets I’ve had with a red wine jus. We chose the macaroni and cheese and cos and baby beetroot salad as sides.. all so...delicious. I had a berry based cocktail with sloe gin in it and it was amazing. We couldn’t fault our meal. The booking system was so easy. I highly recommend this restaurant.More

It was hard to get into this place without a booking but we managed. I ordered the 68 dollar rib fillet, no sides attached. We ordered the 12 dollar bowl of chips and the excellent greens. Wife ordered the lamb, okay. My steak was well...smoked and cooked, but 68 dollars worth, maybe not. Service was pretty good, drinks a bit pricey, but remember we are in a tourist destination. Check it out for yourself, but I thought it was overpriced.More

Hi Grace, while the IronBar is a steakhouse, there are salads on the menu, and dishes that are readily adaptable to vegan requirements and preferences. You can take a look at the menu on their website, and ask your waiter... More
