Travelling with a coeliac teenager is challenging to say the least. Shakes Gelati Bar was heaven. The owner was very knowledgeable and understood coeliac land and upon observing her, she was very conscientious with washing the scooper and using clean water. She even went and got a fresh tub of our selection because the one in the display unit was almost empty and she didn't want to chance any contamination. You can't ask for more. We went back every night and she was as attentive as the first time. Definitely recommend to coeliac.

We spent 12 nights in Port Douglas on holiday and ended up here every night after dinner. The gelato was amazing (and the sea slat caramel was unspeakably good). The staff were super friendly (and very patient with our kids). If you're going to be in Port Douglas pay Debbie and the team a visit - you won't regret it!

The gelato and sorbets here are to die for…staying away once you’ve sampled the ice team is the biggest challenge followed by which fabulous flavor to choose…on our first visit, the salted caramel gelato did not disappoint. The next visit passionfruit sorbet had blood orange sorbet were divine. The best though was the last, the apple sorbet. Absolutely delicious!

My husband and I went into the store during the busy Xmas- New year period. Both owners were talking with a table of the friends. The male owner left the table and walk past us - we assumed to take our order, however he then went and sat another table and began a casual conversation with someone who was obviously a friend as well. After waiting a little while longer for someone to take our order, we decided to leave. The female owner then came up to us as we were leaving and asked if we were ok. My husband replied that we were just going to head off. At this point the table of friends that the wife was at began to heckle us and make sooky noises, which the wife just laughed at.
We may only go to Port 3 or so times a year, we always stopped in at that icecream place on the way back to the hotel each night - I would have previously rated it 3 star at best for the dessert served. I'm sure they won't miss the $120 or so that we spent a year but overall was not a pleasant experience.

Good but not excellent, we stopped for a quick ice after a walk and had Strawberry and Banoffee in a tub. Both tasted of artificial flavouring but slipped down nicely.
There are some seats outside but they are cheap and uncomfortable.
Don’t go out of your way.

Amazing liquorice icecream yum yum yum
And the rum and raisin is worth the drive it was really worried that they were gonna run out of From and reason, but thankfully no they had plenty in the shop

Just another highlight for our Port Douglas stay after big days walking or doing activities it was nice to end the day with a lovely gelato sitting in Macrossan Street some fantastic flavours. Yummmm

We’re on a road trip and we’re told by locals that nearby that it is great so decided to check it out and I was the BEST icecream we ever had! Both expensive and is very delicious! Fast service and very friendly staff. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Great Italian Authentic gelato run by a beautiful family, delicious gelato like your back in Italy.
Clean , great variety of flavours such as casata , stracciatella , banoffee ( sooo delicious ) rum & raisin , range of fresh sorbets.
