Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated in the main street this hotel was established in 1879. Great outdoor seating off the footpath with big TVs so we could watch preparations for the V8 Supercars at Bathhurst. The wife had her usual Barramundi and I had a beautiful Paela washed down...with a few cool ones. Great spot, as we'd walked both sides of the shops twice, I was ready for a rest and hydration.More

The Central Hotel is located right in the centre of town and is a great place to start exploring Port Douglas. It has plenty of room and seating with great food, especially the Pizzas and a wide variety of cold beers. We visited the Central...a number of times and also tried the pub-favourite Parmy and the Burgers. The food was consistently of a high standard so what more can you want! The staff made us feel welcome and were quick to respond to our requests. Keep up the good work. We'll be back (again).More

Visit the Central Hotel on most trips to Port Douglas. The meals are typical pub meals and pizzas are good. Wednesday night trivia is a must. It provides a great fun night out with the opportunity to win prizes ((right down to 8th place)

We sat in the back garden area. Food was served quick but the service was very disappointing. The staff member arrived to collect our plates and instead of collecting all the plates, she told us to pass it all to her. Then grabbed the menu...from under my elbow. No excuse me, nothing.More

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. We ordered two steak sandwiches and also a steak with onion rings. The steak came with one of the biggest steak knives I’ve ever seen and it could’ve been cut with a flimsy timber knife it was that tender!...The steak sandwiches were excellent with lovely fresh Turkish bread and again, the steak was very, very tender, no nasty gristley bits. We visited on a Sunday for lunch so it was busy and we were prepared for a long wait and there wasn’t one. We were impressed as they were very busy for the lunch session, but everything flowed smoothly.More

Great spot for watching sport on the big screens. Calamari salad was soaking in dressing. Unfortunately all you could taste which is a shame as the ingredients are nice & fresh. Garlic pizza great with a crispy base.

Just read all the negative reviews while waiting for my calamari salad. What a pleasant surprise though. Delicious tender calamari, and a huge serving. Sitting outside with a beautiful breeze, people watching with a beer. What more could you ask for!

We visited after just arriving to the Northern Territory for the first time to have a cold drink at Port Douglas's oldest pub and decided to have lunch. Unfortunately both our meals were very ordinary, with the fish being heavily battered, the chips dry and...the burger not hot... clearly not freshly cooked. From the reviews, it may have been better to come only for a drink and to enjoy the live music at night.More

Worst nachos ever, called manager, could not care less. Dry, no topping and walked away. Plenty of better places in town. Dead set crap

Nice family ‘pub grub’ after arriving late in PD. Beer was never soooo lovely after getting cases put away in the tropical night.

Late night - needed a meal for family of 5. This was the place to be! Well spaced out - area for kids to run - menu was great too. Steaks were a little small but the meals arrived quickly and there was plenty of...salad and sides to fill everyone up.More

We had dinner here as it was a nice outdoors venue. However the food was overcooked and not nice. The grilled fish was dry and tough. The pizza overdone, dry and not a good vegetarian option, despite being pretty much the only option.

Atmosphere amazing. Staff friendly. But food and waiting time very average and it wasn’t that busy. Prawn and chorizo pizza and a grilled vegetable salad with chicken. Took over 35mins to get to us. The salad was luke warm, paid an extra $7 to add...chicken and that was for 3 dried up pieces placed on top. The pizza was not cut thru. Had a butter knife to cut it, was a big pizza but only had I recon 5 small prawns on it, base was dry and mostly topped with spinach and rocket and some awful sauce. First night of a 10 night stay. Won’t be back.More
