A Monday night in Port Douglas after the Cairns Ironman, so everywhere was either booked out or closed. Managed to find one of the last bookings on the list at Wharfside, which ended up being a fantastic result. Had the crab/prawn linguine, which was brilliant,...as well as a couple of different cocktails. Others at the table had the steak, the chicken and the pork ribs. Everyone enjoyed their meals and loved the atmosphere sitting outside essentially on the esplanade. Not a cheap dinner but definitely worth the cost.More
I guess I was expecting more based on some of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We booked a table as there was every indication that space was limited, when in actual fact there were plenty of tables. My biggest disappointment was probably of my own...making. I though it was a seafood restaurant, but it is best described as modern Australian cuisine. The food was very good, but in our shared opinion the menu was quite limited, and the fish of the day had run out by the time we got there at 7:15.
We shared a dozen oysters and some grilled octopus, and then both had crab and prawn fettuccine. The seafood was delicious. We had a Jim Barry Riesling to wash it all down. The service was pleasant enough. Maybe scoring it 3 out of 5 is harsh, but that is our joint assessment, and I know we ended up having seafood anyway…More
Our second visit and it was just as good as our last trip. Food was excellent and the staff efficient and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals and this restaurant is one of our favourites in PD. So good to see the lovely English lass...was still there too.More
The most outstanding meal I have ever experienced! The food was exquisitely prepared and presented without being ‘nouveau’ stupid. The staff were amazingly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience of the establishment is extraordinary. Delightfully comfortable chairs and little details like replacing napkins between serves....But it’s the food prepared by owner/chef Cassie which sets it apart from every other restaurant I have experienced. My wife concurs! Craig, Cassie’s partner was charming as were the restaurant staff, Shannon, Gavin and Violet.More
Loved the cocktails and presentation of thier meals besides it being very tasty. Got to meet the deligjhtful proprietors and their chrming head waitress. Will definitely go back again to soak up the ambience next time i am in PD
Had a great dinner at the Wharfside Kitchen. Had a couple of cocktails each that were fantastic. Couldn't fault the food. As a couple we shared a couple of small plates. one large plate, one side dish and a dessert. Everything was really good but...would particularly recommend the small plate of scallops & pork belly and the side dish of grilled peach salad. Service was great and we were attended to all night at exactly the right time. Spent a bit more than we normally would for dinner but didn't care as it was all so good!!More
Having booked months in advance for Easter Saturday knowing how busy Port Douglas would be, and having a special family event to celebrate, we were so disappointed to have the booking cancelled 24 hours before. We were unable to get any other reservations, and even...places that normally did takeaway were not an option (they were so busy takeaway wasn't available). Our special dinner turned into frozen pizzas. We got an apology - but no offer to remedy or to make good (other than to say they'd be happy to have us book in on another night....). So let down, such poor customer service.More
