This place is an absolute gem, run by the most down-to-earth, friendly couple you could meet. You are made to feel welcome, and treated to wonderful food and beautifully matched wines at very reasonable prices. You can even take a bottle or three home with you when you leave, along with a bottle of truffle oil, or other delights that may take your fancy. This place redefines the long lunch!

We had the Mediterranean platter for lunch together with a glass of Australian sparkling wine and then a glass of wine each selected from a very good wine list. Food quality was excellent, with the very good wine. Marlene, the host, was a delight. Epicurean is tucked away a little on Macrossan Street with a lovely calm environment. After a tough start for their venture in Port Douglas due to COVID, Epicurean is a welcome addition to the food scene in Port Douglas, offering a unique point of difference to the offerings in the town. Well worth hunting it out.

Wandered from our hotel with thoughts of having lunch at the corner cafe. It was closed so meandered past the gelato shop and found this wee price of paradise. It’s tucked back off the road so you need to step in from the foot path. We chose a rose to enjoy over two platters. Extremely welcoming! Exceptional wine knowledge and the tastes on the boards were exquisitely crafted! The attention to tastes and mixed items particularly on the Sea platter were truly amazing. They have thought through every morsel to make your dining and wine experience memorable! Wish I had find this earlier on our visit would have come back and worked our way through the platters as this is a chef that knows his stuff and they all looked tantalizing. It’s wonderful to see the passion of owner operators! A true sommelier with comprehensive wine knowledge! A chef with true passion for what they produce. This is not something that can be manufactured!

Epicurean is an absolute gem! Intimate yet relaxed atmosphere and run by a knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly couple who are clearly passionate about what they do. And what they do is spectacular! House made pate, rillettes, terrines, charcuterie and incredible cheeses paired with the best wines to savour and while the afternoon away. Highly recommended

What a treat! Our friends, who are regular customers to this great new restaurant in Port Douglas, introduced us to Epicurean where we enjoyed two amazingly delicious platters. The Owners, Marlene and Rohan, were most welcoming and the food was expertly and proudly created using fresh produce each with its own unique flavour. We certainly look forward to our next visit. I celebrated my birthday with a beautiful lunch at Epicurean yesterday. We had a table for 8 on the deck which was a lovely setting for a very relaxed afternoon of indulgence. Marlene and Rohan are exceptionally talented. Their knowledge and obvious love for what they do enhanced the whole experience for us. Marlene chose the perfect wines for us and Rohan prepared the most amazing platter boards of sensational French cuisine. The care they have taken to choose quality Australian products is evident. They are open, friendly and extremely professional. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu and would recommend it to anyone who has a real appreciation for good food.

We are fortunate to have many excellent restaurants here in Port Douglas. A new one only opening five days ago brings a nice French Provincial touch to town. It is a place for grazing on Pate, Rillette and Terrine Plates for starters before getting into the larger Sea, Mediterranean, Duck and Charcuterie Boards. If you are still hungry after that they have a French and Australian cheese board. The wine list is interesting. Marlene runs the front and Rohan stars in the kitchen, at this stage it is only open Wednesday from 1100 to 1630. We will be making this a regular haunt welcome to Port , both of you.

What a gem, hidden away in plain view, this French cafe and pantry oozes sophistication and charm. Friendly chef Rohan and wife Marlene, operate this establishment. It’s a lunch, long lunch set up with an emphasis on enjoying food and wine at a leisurely pace. Beautiful platters terrines on offer as well as tasty morsels designed to share and enjoy. A very special experience. Highly recommend you go, wish they would move to Noosa !!

This fairly new addition to the restaurants in Port Douglas is a bit easy to walk past, as it is set back a little from the footpath. In between a gelati bar and Jimmy Rum’s cocktail bar. Only open from 11 am around 4 pm, Wednesday to Saturday. BUT it’s well worth a visit. Excellent Australian wine and a gourmet selection of “boards” to share, or smaller plates. We shared the Duck board - confit, terrine and pate, with condiments and fresh-baked bread. I started with a magnificent octopus roulade and we shared a nice French cheese to finish. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere. Most highly recommended.

I was so thrilled to see this offered in Port Douglas! Such a unique place that offers something different from the other must do places in Port Douglas. The platters are GREAT, the wine is impeccable and the service is wonderful. The platters vary and there are different specials (I think) that change. I really liked the setting too and I enjoyed the high quality table-wear. I wish we had more time as I would’ve gone everyday.

The incredible reviews of ‘The Epicurean’ had us intrigued so we called in to make a booking. We were thrilled to see the great selection of Tasmanian and Victorian wines including one of our favourites Mandala from the Yarra Valley. The whole experience was perfect from start to end of beautiful food paired with delightful wines. We shared a plate and a board which was perfect for us. So wonderful to see the mix of locals and visitors sharing this space as Marlene and Rohan share their passion of food and wine in a friendly relaxed environment.

We first tried Marlene and Rohan's restaurant, three weeks ago. Tucked away in a quiet location on the main street of Port Douglas, it is the perfect spot for their ‘lazy lunches’. A quiet and relaxed atmosphere, not too many tables, this husband and wife couple are a great new fixture for Port Douglas. We’ve been back every week since to explore the rest of the menu and pick up some cheeses and deli supplies from their range. This place is something unique and different for the area which is fantastic and their passion shows through in all aspects of the business.

This is a really nice, relaxed experience. The service is first rate - friendly and relaxed but attentive. The charcuterie board was tasty but felt there could have been a bit more value for money. Overall definitely worth a visit

We visited Epicurean twice last year and ensured we booked prior to our holiday this year. Marlene and Rohan are wonderful hosts ensuring your experience is very special in a delightful space. Marlene welcomes you with the tasty food menu and a good wine list while Rohan shows his culinary skills with his home made terrines, rillettes and pates. The tasting boards are beautifully presented with your choice of the above plus superb cheeses and cured meats. Make sure you book early!!! It’s very hard to walk away without buying some of the delicious takeaway food and wines for later.
