Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved this place and Marlene is an hospitable and knowledgeable hostess. We had the Duck Board and the pate was seriously the best we have ever tasted. Bravo to the chef. The wine selection is extensive and caters to all tastes. We will be...returning again this week because it was just the best. Julie n Paul NSWMore

This was a delightful way to enjoy a tastebuds experience. With a great charcuterie board with several kinds to choose from. You are invited to taste and enjoy the various flavours. Accompanied with a chilled glass of wine. Just to relax and not rush the...whole experience. Highly recommend.More

Conveniently located in Macrossan Street, I decided to book this restaurant in advance to celebrate our recent 25th wedding anniversary. And to be honest we were totally blown away with the level of service and quality of food. All previous reviews I have read were...totally accurate, 4 days later and we both can't stop talking about the food at Epicurean Restaurant. We had the Pork Rillette for a petite board and the Duck Board for the main. Matched with some delicious gin cocktails. If you visit Port Douglas, you must visit Epicurean at Port Douglas.More

We wanted somewhere special & memorable for our 22nd wedding anniversary and Epicurean did not disappoint. From the elegant setting to the attentive service & delectable food & wines, the whole experience was first class. The entree plates & share board were beautifully presented with...great flavours & textures. We will definitely be returning to try other selections on offer. All in all a great place in Port Douglas for a leisurely lunch.More

We loved the concept of Charcuterie boards for lunch, accompanied by good wine. We had the ploughmans board and the Seaboard. The ploughmans was excellent, the Seaboard was a little let down by the scallops which had way too much saffron. Oysters were superb though....I did not like the Grampians Rose at all but they made up for that by recommending the Tahbilk Chardonnay which was excellent. The 3 waitresses that day were all very attentive!More

The food, atmosphere, wine and staff were second to none. My partner has coeliac disease and was catered to thoughtfully. We will definitely be back!

We came to Port Douglas for a few days and this restaurant was the only one we booked in advance. We couldn't wait to taste the delights that the menu suggested and that previous diners had enjoyed. (based on the reviews, we knew it had...to be special!). It was a special occasion for our long lunch so we settled in with a local gin (divine) followed by a bottle of Clover Hill Tassie bubbles (a favourite of ours!). Our first platter was the seafood choice and it didn't disappoint. Fresh prawns, oysters and scallops featured and the taste was perfect. We then opted for the charcuterie platter with a delectable array of cheese, pastes and meats as well as a house made baguette, warmed perfectly. The house made pates were a highlight and there was absolutely none left in either jar. The platters are made with love and local fare and the owners clearly take pride in what they deliver. The service was first class and it makes it easy when you do what you love. We left with our bellies full after a beautiful long lunch that was everything we hoped it would be, and some.More

We were so impressed with our lunch visit in July 2022 that another visit on our return to PD in August 2023 was at the top of our restaurant list. It is still five star against every measure. You will not find a better place...for a quiet, comfortable and relaxing lunch. The service is professional, friendly and most efficient. The quality of the food and wine simply complements the overall package. This year, we were so impressed with our Thursday visit, we booked again for the following Tuesday. If you want to sit and relax with great wine, delicious cheeses, pates, meats, breads and all the accompaniments over a long long lunch with friendly hosts, then you must go to Epicurean. It's great that they are going against the norm of restaurants rushing...people through a lunch service to cram as many in as possible, if you want to have a 3 hour lunch, you can! Limited tables so booking is a must.More
