About
For a long while Hi Tide Cafe, Bar, Restaurant has been a local's secret, and no wonder because this is as close to a beachfront hideaway as it gets in the middle of Port Douglas. Indeed, if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Macrossan Street with the soft sea breeze the tide will bring you here. Nestled oceanside as part of the Peninsula Boutique Hotel. It's cool without being over designed, warm and welcoming without sacrificing a certain sophistication and, well, they have the most amazing cocktail selection.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had breikkie here several times, Nice, good and friendly Service also and dinner pasta was also good, a bit too cheesy (you could probably ask it it without cheese or less cheese). The spot with the sea view is good. We stayed at the...hotel Peninsula this is why we found this RestaurantMore

Lovely Setting by the beach, we were seated at a lovely table within a few minutes of standing at the front. Not the restaurants fault but full of loud Americans. The food was nice, although took a long time to get to us. Coffees took...a long time as well The waitstaff were friendly and accommodating We noticed on our way out about 9am that they were closed for breakfast, which seemed odd as it was so early still on a SaturdayMore

We dined at HiTide the first night of our holiday. As always, the food was excellent and the service phenomenal. Staying at Peninsula, we’ve also enjoyed two brekkies and the outstanding view. The poached eggs are perfection. Jess has been our attendant for all three...meals, thus far. We wish her good tidings on her next adventure away from Port Douglas. She will be missed for sure!More

Service was atrocious. Went to check on where meal was and had toast slammed on the counter with here it is. Waitress then came to table and abused me. Waitress then finished with “GO F$&K YOURSELF”.

Very dissatisfied with the serving size of the barramundi - it was literally the size of a fish finger for $28 - the chips were good and the salad generous although covered in a dressing I didn’t care for - the others in my group...were happy with their club sandwiches and the pumpkin salad was OK. Could have been much betterMore

Arrived for booking and we waited out the front of the restaurant/cafe for approximately 5 mins waiting to be greeted and seated. Despite the staff seeing us they made no attempt to seat us. We ended up walking away and finding another restaurant to spend...our money. Very poor service.More

So often restaurants with prime position on the beach can get away with pretty average food and I was disappointed to discover this was no exception, especially after reading so many good reviews. The location is lovely, right across from Four Mile Beach (if you...sit outside - inside is very daggy), the coffee was decent but the food was a bit meh. In a location know for its fruits, my granola had tinned fruit on it. Wouldn’t go back.More

Whether it’s coffee, lunch or dinner HiTide is well worth a visit. Bright and bubbly staff and a great chef. We ate breakfast here every morning and had dinner as well. Loved the Japanese share plate, and the linguine especially.

Extremely disappointing! The view was the only redeeming feature. After an extremely long wait our entre and mains came out together. I had the fish in panko crumbs that was inedible. The crocodile spring rolls were tastless and the house wine may have come out...of a cask. Don't bother.More

This is a lovely casual spot facing the beach; service was very good, and the food beautifully prepared and presented. I had the Pâté for entree, and it was amongst the best I have eaten. A very pleasant evening.
