Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Being part way on an extended trip that so far had taken in San Francisco, Napa, North & South Island NZ and Sydney we agreed that this was in our top three restaurants so far. Excellent service only exceeded by the quality of the food....Only sad that our stay in Port Douglas was coming to an end. The baby baked barramundi and the dessert were standouts., but tiger prawns and scallops were also very good. The wine match suggestions were also good.More

We had a delightful night. Starting with the best Margaritas in town. Followed by Kingfish Ceviche and Oysters. Then it was time for the main course, and we opted for a meat dish. My partner chose Flame Grilled Eye Fillet and I had Slow Braised...Lamb Shank. Yes, I know, the fish there is to die for but we have been dining on fish for the last few days, hence the decision to chose something else. And it was superb. The staff was charming, the vibe perfect. Everyone at tables next to us seemed to be having a delightful time. What a perfect gem of a restaurant. Will be back. Maybe even this week again.More

We had a great table on the front veranda looking across to the park and the church. Excellent service from our friendly French waiter! We started with their fantastic bread with whipped maple butter, and shared a generous and very yummy pate. For mains, the...tiger prawns for him and the Balmain bugs for her; both delightfully cooked and prepared with excellent sauces and accompaniments. A shared dessert of heavenly citrus cloud and two excellent coffees made for a great ending to yet another memorable meal at Melaleuca.More

We had an incredible meal at Melaleuca! Everyone loved the wine and the food (the lamb shank is so tender, it falls off of the bone!), and Githsel’s service was amazing! It is a cute, cozy place. Wry close to the water. We are staying...another couple of days, and are likely to come back again!More

These guys are right on it. From the management of the team where the owner seems to have eyes everywhere to the chefs who manage to cope so well with a busy restaurant. This place is also great value given the quality provided. We had...9 on our table with a mix of youngsters to seniors and all were satisfied with their choices and service. From tasty tartare’s to crispy whole Barramundi, perfect steaks and well priced wine. Good waiting service, the only complaint being that one glass was not topped up immediately it was empty…..but 2 mins later she apologised for not being “ on it”!! Well how good is that. Great visit, lovely ambiance. Such a positive place.More

We really enjoyed our dinner at Melaleuca. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the staff are really nice. The food is excellent. Had 6 oysters as an entree/starter which were presented beautifully and tasted divine. Recommend

The food at Melaleuca is exquisite. Portion sizes are generous and the presentation is incredible. Full credit to the chefs and ably supported by professional and efficient wait staff (thank you, Shannon 👌🏼). Recommend the Moreton Bay Bugs and Eye Fillet for mains and the...desserts round off the evening nicely. This is a first class establishment and the quality of the fare is exceptional.More

This restaurant has a lovely setting and ambiance. We had excellent service from Shannon who attended to our every need and question. The cocktails were unique. We enjoyed tiger prawns, scallops and beef tartare for entree then barramundi, Morton Bay bugs and Pork Belly for...mains. Delicious food! We would certainly recommend dining at Melaleuca when in Port Douglas.More

Best restaurant in port Douglas. Dined there twice in the five days we spent in port Douglas only because they were full on the other evenings. Great food and brilliant staff.
