We booked here to enjoy a dinner for our last night in Port Douglas. When we booked the hostess was very helpful and when we arrived she was equally welcoming. We were told "there is no rush we want you to enjoy your meal". From that point on it went downhill. We ordered a drink and some breads and advised... More

This was the most disappointing restaurant we visited in Port Douglas. The service is average and meals are average. The gnocchi was stodgy, chewy, dry and the flavours didn't go together. When staff were approached they offered to put butter on it. The prawns were way over cooked which I could see when they brought it to the table. The... More

Had far better, not exactly 'fine dining' but it filled a hole for the evening. The staff were friendly enough, but the food didn't float my boat by any extreme.

Again, one of the better establishments in Port Douglas. Pleasant (modern decor on the first floor with the good people watching view of the Main Street. I have both lunch and dinner here and it was highly satisfactory. As far as I remember both the wine and beer list was quite acceptable, taking into account the general standard of North... More

My fiance took me here for my birthday whilst we were on holidays. The food was an absolute delight. I ordered the pasta special of the day which was paperdelle with chicken and veg. My fiance ordered the veal scollapine. The meals were a reasonable serving and for the food quality very reasonably priced. The drinks were a little bit... More

Visited bel ciao twice in one week. See my previous review. Food was great even with service issues, so visited a second time with just hubby. Manager took order without writing anything down. Food didn't come so asked again...and then again when food still hadn't come - got 1 entree out of two ( and so did the table next... More

Four of us had dinner here and had booked for a table on the balcony. Very friendly staff and great food. A dish was mentioned that our friends had eaten in Venice and my husband was particularly fond of and it was not on the menu but they went to the trouble of making it, a main course size for... When visiting Port Douglas we have always dined here. So over the years we have dined here several times and have always had good service and great food. So when staying in Port Douglas for first wedding anniversary we dined here for our anniversary dinner and were given a lovely table at the front of the restaurant. All the staff... More

We came across this restaurant as we were looking for somewhere to eat in Port Douglas. It has an attractive modern appearance and the tables at the front have a great view over Macrossan Street. The menu is interesting Italian and attractively priced for the quality. The food we had was beautifully cooked and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient.... More

Having reviewed the negative reviews of this restaurant it is clear the owner cannot take any criticism at all. Maheno - OCT 2015 wrote that she was unhappy as they were charged for a side dish that came after the meal wash finished and the owner stated she must be mistaken it cannot be his restaurant. Impossible for such a thing to happen in HIS restaurant. He then goes on to try and shift the blame onto ANOTHER restaurant!?

I wrote a bad review for my experience at this restaurant earlier in the year and the owner attacks me for it. Even attacking my appearance in my profile pic!

@ KiwiChef, people are entitled to write their opinions and complain if they have had a bad experience. Your response to those opinions and complaints reflects your customer service skills, your ability to take and handle criticism and just your general maturity. You attack every person who has a negative opinion about their experience at your restaurant. I'm sure if I go again I might have a better or even a perfect experience, but the time I visited I didn't and you shouldn't attack people who don't praise you, your food, staff and venue.

Last thing, it's extremely low and scummy behavior to try and blame another restaurant for a bad review YOU received (as mentioned above). You actually say of the bad review "there is another Italian Restaurant in Port Douglas - Bucci, they seem to have many negative reviews on their TA page about food & service.I agree with you & just cannot fathom that happening here.Ciao" I notice it is not the first time you try to blame this restaurant. I'll be letting them know so they can report you.

I'm sure you're going to have a charming and professional response ready for me after hearing some hard truth. I feel sorry for the poor staff member you're going to force to reply to this.

I hope people catch on to you. Kiwi "Chef".
