A great place to get Japanese food in Cairns. The restaurant is small and pleasant and the prices are reasonable. Very friendly staff.

It is a small and cozy area. Its atmosphere is dark and nice to sit in. The waitresses were so nice and explained a lot of the menu. The food took a while, but everything was made fresh, they were also share plates. I am...not well versed in sushi and raw food, but I was slightly disappointed by the thickness in which everything was cut, the mouthfeel was not pleasant to me because of this. The sliced raw meat was also served with a thick cold sauce which added to the unpleasant texture. Other than the sushi and raw meat, the rest of the meal was amazing. We had the KFC, chicken and stuffed chicken wings, the pork belly, these were so amazing and made everything worth it.More

Excellent food. Agadashi tofu to die for, and the chicken karage was the best and most delicious I’ve had in a Japanese restaurant. Service was great and prices so reasonable. The tuna ceviche is not to be missed! Thank you gif a fabulous lunch.

We were quickly greeted and seated by friendly waiting staff, but as they were very busy, and appeared to be understaffed in the kitchen, it took a while for our order to be taken, and the food to arrive. We started with chicken gyoza which...were deep fried and delicious. This was followed by Spicy Wagyu beef, and a serving of rice. We asked for the dish to not be spicy. It was very tasty, tender and very much to our tastes. I was reluctant to share with my partner. Then came Chicken Teryaki which was also good, but with a much more subtle flavour following the beef. We will definitely return.More

Highly recommend this small Japanese restaurant, the food was cooked to perfection, also had a great sake cocktail no idea what was in it but it was divine. I would have visited again if I could but it was temporarily closing for the Easter break....We had scallops, Gyoza, katsu curry and salmon poke bowl. All were great.More

Went for an early dinner and it was fabulous. Very authentic family run restaurant. I had the old School Nigiri. It was super tasty and they cut the sashimi very thick unlike many other places I have been. My wife had Teriyaki chicken and it...was a full breast cooked perfectly. Very tasty. Restaurant is small and doesn’t look like much from outside but worth a visit for sure!More

Went here with friends a few weeks ago for dinner. I had been here with a friend a few years ago, but since my last visit the restaurant had had a makeover. Upon our arrival the staff were very friendly & seated us 15 minutes...prior to our booking. We ordered several small dishes to share. The food was very delicious. We will definately be back.More

Have been here many times and it now sits very firmly as my favourite restaurant in Cairns. Food is always delicious, service is always attentive (even when they're super busy, which happens often - make sure you book a table!), the atmosphere is quirky and...cosy. Great spot for a date but also lovely to go with a small group of friends. Prices for some things are slightly higher than elsewhere but this seems to reflect the quality and overall experience provided. Worth every cent. Favourite is the salmon bowl, although I have enjoyed every single thing I have eaten there. Definitely check this place out.More

From a relatively limited menu, we selected a number of dishes, all of which were excellent - well presented and very tasty. The sashimi was superb - a generous serving of tuna, salmon, kingfish, snapper and scallops, all served at just the right temperature. Service...was very good and prices reasonable. A delicious and satisfying Japanese meal!More

Wawawa’s is a trendy and delicious Japanese restaurant in the centre of Cairns. The food is immaculate and service very attentive. You can’t miss the OMG scallops and I would also recommend the old school nigiri, sashimi, shiitake agadashi, wagu beef…….actually it’s all good just...order everything!!More
