Dunwoody’s is a relaxed Cairns pub which ticks all the boxes and works well as mid week night out. The menu is surprisingly diverse & extensive (e.g I had a vegetarian arancini burger which was very good). Some of the drinks are expensive - $11 for a small glass of Pepperjack Shiraz was OTT in my opinion. Trivia night is lots of fun, the questions are challenging and we received a $100 voucher as the winning team. The host/emcee sported a T-shirt, shorts, & thongs #onlyincairns

There were approximately 20 ladies who came to lunch on 2nd January. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was fabulous, large servings and very tasty. The staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly go back again for another meal. The drinks are a reasonable price as well and easy parking.

Visited Dunwoodys Cairns for the Credence John Fogarty Show. Cannot fault anything. January month long special, use the QR code on your table to order between 5&6 pm and it’s half price. Everything. Food drinks the lot. Hubby and I ordered Angus Rump with toppers. Tender, juicy and tasty. Cooked how we wanted. Huge servings. But Perfect! The staff were friendly and Shauna was outstanding. She was informative, friendly and so helpful. 20/10 to her. Great job Dunwoodys!

Staff at the start were excellent, that was until the food. I asked for some water and was told to go to the bar and get it for myself. Normally don’t have a issue but didn’t want my meal to go cold. To be honest it didn’t matter the burger was cold and the chips really hot, so it was easy to see they let the burger go cold waiting on the chips. Taste was bland, burger bun old and not nice. Two stars is only for the person that greeted me with a smile ( through the mask).

What a waste of time and money. A party of 23 for a birthday, and for the second time visiting they could not get the booking right. Last time they just didn't reserve at all, this time they gave our table to a party of 10 and tried to put us at their table for 10. Menu is boring since their reno, and the food is very average. Our 24 year old body builder ordered the ribs and got a serve about the size of a pack of cards. Waitresses had no idea how to serve, reaching across the table and over guests rather than walk all the way around. Music was deafeningly loud grunge metal and even our younger ones were complaining about it. Absolutely nothing to recommend it, seriously go elsewhere.

So hit and miss here.
I don’t know about their other meals but they don’t know how to cook steak... Have been here a few times now. Last time I came here the chef (whoever that was on the night) cooked my steak perfectly well. - so that’s one time in 4! Lots of flavour but that was the meat and he didn’t over for it. Come back again tonight and I order medium rare and when I cut in to it. It was almost dust. I showed the bar guys and they were like yep that’s well done. They (to their credit) gave me a refund.
But really do you want to go to a restaurant that is so used to giving you a refund because the cooking staff are not great? I don’t. Last time. It’s ashame as I only live a few hundred metres from it…. And I think they buy reasonable quality meat. They just have some staff that don’t know how to cook it.
The bar staff and the ambience is really great. The service is next level. They need to get a standard in the kitchen though. Just woeful.

Came to have dinner here with our friends. Atmosphere is nice, it’s clean, accessible to wheelchairs.
Ordered our meals, Pork Cutlet, Rib fillet medium rare, Porterhouse steak well done & side plate of vegies & Beef salad. The meals came within a reasonable time, although they weren’t busy. The service was great & the staff very friendly. We started eating & I noticed my steak was not well done & juices coming out on to the chips & salad. I called the waiter, he was apologetic & took it to the kitchen. The steak came back cooked well done with new cooked chips & salad & once again they apologised. Everyone enjoyed the meals. We would visit again.

The refurb looks great. the meals were good. The staff were pleasant and friendly.
But if the premises has a Food & Beverage Manager, they should spend a few evenings at the place, The logistics of ordering is clunky. Glasses weren't cleared from tables. We watched one table of six receive their meals one at a time over a period of twenty minutes! Restaurant prices at mediocre pub standard of service.

I had been here before the renovations and wow this place has changed for the better. Much much better.
Some things in this don’t sound great however overall was a good meal and great service and recommend.
I had the rump steak it was slightly over cooked for what I ordered (medium rare) but not too much and you could tell the quality of the meat was good and it tasted great. Would have a again
My partner had the humptydoo dry aged barramundi . It first came out with the skin side down which we thought was strange but when she had some it turned out the skin was burned and so they obviously did that to try and hide it. We mentioned it to the waitress and she was very good about it. Quickly brought out a freshly cooked meal and it was perfect. My partner absolutely loved it.
The waitress was exceptionally good about our complaint and also offered us both a free drink at the bar for the trouble. The service was awesome. We did only just order before the kitchen closed so maybe just hit them at a bad time.
The quality of the produce though was awesome for a pub feed and I am a bit picky so was really impressed.
Decor and the way they have done it is great. Looks very nice.
Will definitely head back again soon and I really imagine we might have just got them at the wrong time.
What they have done with the Reno’s and new menu is great and I hope they keep it as it is one of the better pubs and meals you will find for a pub.
Recommend trying.

I went to this Tavern after having dental work and needed something soft to eat for dinner. The staff were so thoughtful, friendly and helpful. I ordered steamed fish with mash and veges and couldn't believe how tasty it was. Must have been something in the mash. The meal was very generous too. I'd definitely dine there again.

My first visit inside Dunwoody's Tavern & Liquor Barn on Sunday 29/10/23 & dining with a group of staff from a well know charity organisation locally.
I decided on ordering the Sunday Roast, food served within a reasonable time-frame & the meal was very good + purchased one Cappuccino. Menu prices are very reasonable. Plenty of free parking close-by on either side of the street. Friendly staff & a spacious relaxed environment inside.

Hi Team.I ordered through Uber Eats tonight, noticed there was no option for sauces on the app. Anyhow I placed an order and asked for Dianne Sauce and Gravy on the order notes and they where both delivered. Thought it was really nice that it was given even though there wasn't an option to pay for it. We will be buying again, it's nice to be able to get a Pub Meal without having to go out when your working from home. Thankyou!!

The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The batter was rubbery, as though it had been cooked in a microwave oven. The fish inside the batter was very sparse and bland. The chips, while okay, were obviously just frozen chips out of a bag, which is not really satisfactory when you have paid a premium price.
The venue is quite nice, which is a pity, because it was nearly empty at lunchtime, probably due to the poor service, bad food and high prices.

When you enter a massive room which is more sized for functions you might wonder what sort of food you might get?
Well we ordered 2 mains, salmon and fish and chips.
Both mains were excellent quality and large in portion and reasonably priced.
We were served by Jake who was very friendly even though he was a Liverpool supporter!!!!
I would definitely tell people to take a try, we really enjoyed it

My steak was really tasty the meal came out quick and the portion of chips and salad and sauce was a great size. I really enjoyed it. Good ambiance not too noisy and friendly staff. New to Cairns so it might well be my goto place.
