What a find! By far the best dining experience we had in Cairns over 2 weeks. Genuine french cuisine, perfectly cooked and presented, superb flavours and great service. Less expensive than all the overpriced, noisy tourist traps along the shorefront and only a short walk away. It is one of the few places around Cairns that actually serves wild Barramundi. It's sad that everywhere else we went only served intensively farmed Barramundi, Salmon and tiger prawns (all fake) under the deceptive banners of "fresh caught" or "locally caught".

My partner and I decided to try this restaurant for her birthday dinner after some friends had made a recommendation. The food was absolutely superb! One of the best meals I have had in Cairns by far. I had the duck. It was perfectly cooked and the berry sauce that was with it was amazing. My partner had the lamb rack and once again perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. Couldn’t have been cooked better. The service was excellent, waiters were attentive and very friendly as well as accommodating. They also brought us out a sparkler in our desert and sang happy birthday. The restaurant itself presents very nicely and has both outdoor and indoor seating. Overall I highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

My wife and I love French food. The restaurant did not disappoint. We shared a dozen escargot as an appetizer which was excellent. My wife had the duck which was cooked to perfection, I had 8 hour cooked Beef Cheeks!!! I’ve been in the restaurant business in the USA for over 50 years and have never seen Beef Cheeks offered from any of my suppliers. I had to try it and it was excellent. The beef was cooked to the consistency of a lamb shank but the owner said the meet requires the longer cook times to make it perfect…. And it was!. There wasn’t a drop left on my plate. The young couple next to us ordered the Crème Brûlée which was presented in a foot long dish about an inch wide. It looked fantastic. We didn’t have any dessert but they all sounded great. I would recommend it whole heartedly if you enjoy French food.

Visited this place 6 years ago so wanted to go again while in town. Food was still fantastic however service was so disappointing and not at the standard for the price. We read the menu online so already knew what we'd order however had to wait over 20minutes before having to ask a waiter to take our order. Or pre dinner drink glasses were left on table till after our mains. We had to pour our own wine throughout our sitting and was never asked if we needed anything. We waited so long for our order for desserts to be taken that we decided to skip and leave. The manager was very apologetic and offered to look after us next time however being interstate who knows when that will be. The manager was good however his 2 staff we not attentive, courteous or even polite, so let his reputation suffer. Having booked the first sitting and only 6 tables filled it was shocking.

We were looking forward to our dinner with a tasting menu. To begin with, it was clear that arriving at the restaurant after 8am was a problem, even with a reservation. We took the tasting menu and ate in an hour. A cold welcome, a very nice waitress who came to take our order and a nice wine recommendation. Nevertheless, when you take a tasting menu you expect a minimum of explanation when the plates, sauce and accompaniments are brought to you? Crumbs were served at each table before dessert, but not at ours. Nevertheless, we enjoyed every dish served, but it's a shame that the waiters didn't do justice to the quality of the food.

The dining experience was marred by exceptionally unfriendly and almost aggressive service. While attempting to clarify our dessert order, the waitress seemed visibly irritated, responding with a curt 'I repeated that already!' Her approach to serving plates and pouring wine conveyed a sense of unwillingness to be there, overshadowing any potential enjoyment of the food. Regrettably, I won't be returning, as the overall atmosphere greatly detracted from what might have been a decent meal. It's unfortunate that the negative experience with one waitress overshadowed the efforts of the other staff and potentially skilled chefs. A single negative encounter can indeed impact the overall perception of a dining establishment. It's understandable that you typically prefer to share positive experiences, but given the unsatisfactory service at this establishment, it's fair not to recommend it to others. Sometimes, honest feedback can guide others in making informed choices.

We have visited Cairns many times and often walked past this place, wondering if it was as good as it looked. We opted for the lunch special, 2 courses for $55/head. Vegetable soup was cold, smoked salmon was nice, fish of the day was so overcooked it required a steak knife to cut it and the very chewy duck was paired with a weird Indian inspired chickpea dish. Service was sparse, especially when there were so few diners. The wine list was decent though, and the complimentary wine was quite good. Definitely better than this one in Cairns.

I had eaten here pre-COVID a few years back. It was a good experience. This time, the restaurant had no personality and the service was robotic. The dishes served may have well of been a Big Mac with double cheese--or maybe without the extra cheese. The young woman who seated me and served me showed all the interest and joy of someone who had an upcoming root canal on her mind. The whole place was soulless, as no one presented the dishes, which were good but in no way memorable, as if simply didnm't matter. Also, a small thing, the serving of bread was small, so I asked for another. There was a charge fo that. It wasn't much, but upscale restaurants normally do not charge for that. Finally, no one poured the wine after the first glass; and only once did someone manage to inquire as to how I like the plate in front of me. I replied it was just OK. No inquiry was made as to why I didn't thin it was good, or very good. So, it is not a rip off to eat at C'est Bon. But it is a disappointment in terms of quality, and more than that, in the overall experience which was in every way mirthless. I wanted to ask the young woman if she enjoyed her work but she never made eye contact after halfway through the meal. If you are looking for a goo, very good, or even excellent dining experience in Cairns, you can do far better than C'est Bon.

Beautiful decor, French background music and enjoyable food. We enjoyed the degustation so could taste a variety of French classics such as snails, scallops, duck, creme brulee etc The first waitress with spectacles was a bit awkard when i just asked that while they can bring us anything, we would just ask for snails to be included as it was clearly written on the menu that one could do this. She had a long story on how they are still ironing out the details so no but eventually said okay. I also chose the wine pairing and the sommelier was lovely although it would have made more sense if she had explained what she was serving- just a bit about the wine she had chosen for that meal. I really enjoyed the food although my wife not so much. The creme brulee was served in a lovely long plate and was one of the better creme brulees i have tasted in my life. I will return to eat at this restaurant again.

We have dined at C'est Bon many times over the years. We have sampled lunch specials, degustation menus and the al a carte offerings. We have always been delighted with the food, service and hospitality. Our dinner on Saturday evening was exceptional. It was a dinner for 2 to celebrate a birthday. When I booked I made a special request for bugs and crayfish. These items were not on the current menu but the chef sourced them and served them to our table. We also had the escargot with a beautiful garlic and herb butter. If you are new to C'est Bon the lunch specials offer a reasonably priced introduction to fine French food. Like us, I hope an introduction leads you to also choosing C'est Bon for your special occasions.

Words fail me! This was superb from the moment we stepped in! Such a relaxed old world charm & atmosphere! Beautiful building & perfect menu! Not huge amount of choices but something for everyone which is great as then u know each item will be delicious. We had La Tartare, cheese soufflé, naked Brie truffle tarte & pate to start each as delicious as they other & for mains 3 of us had eye fillet cooked to perfection & melted when cut, one had duck & one the barramundi & again faultless! But the deserts! Wow! Crème brûlée, crème chocolate & citron meringue! Yum! The staff were lovely & attentive without overbearing & the whole experience made us wonder why it took so long to come! The drinks menu is large with something for every taste also & the cocktails were divine Would highly recommend

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Cairns. Our trip to the Barrier Reef was cancelled so we decided to discover Cairns by walking around and came across this restaurant. It was extremely humid when we went early evening but sitting on the terrace felt comfortable. Two sensational steaks and a seafood dish were ordered. The sauce on the steak was unbelievable. The dauphinoise potatoes served as small slab was a unique way to serve them. The vegetables gently cooked. Lots of butter used but come on it's a French restaurant. Staff French and absolutely brilliant and we hardly waited for our food, the evening flowed. Impressed? Yes we were and we returned the following night with more friends. A joyous meal on both nights. Thank you Team Cest Bon.

It used to be such a treat to go to C’est Bon. These days it is understaffed and underwhelming. Service was extremely slow and careless. French onion soup was grossly over-salted. My main was cold and uninspiring. Very disappointing. Won’t be returning.

As a group of friends, we have been dining here for the past 4 years. Unfortunately, our last meal here will be exactly that. Our meals were bland, undersized and the pepper sauce that came with the beef was pretty much like pub sauce. Our steaks were all over done. The waitress didn’t bother to give us side plates for our bread. We all left extremely underwhelmed and disappointed as we have always had beautiful meals in the past.

The food is excellent and typically french and did not disappoint, the duck being superb. Unfortunately, the evening was less than perfect due to our seating and a lack of flexibility on their part. We are an elderly couple who had prebooked for 6.15pm on an unusually cold and wet night in Cairns. They seated us on the roadside of their outside verandah in a strong draft. As we feel the cold badly we asked if it would be possible to move pointing out that we would be out before later bookings arrived. Without any attempt to examine whether that might indeed be possible we were given a blanket no. Indeed, we were given an actual blanket. While one might expect such lack of accommodation in Paris one does not expect it in Cairns. Beware check where you will be seated at the time of booking and if possible avoid the front verandah except on balmy nights.
