Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have been coming to NOA for a couple of years. Loved the menu choices, location and the vibe. Have not been in a few months so decided to go for dinner with some friends (who have been here before and are also disappointed) Menu has...changed and not for the better in my opinion. Have to order a few dishes to get a complete meal - eg. I ordered the Glazed Calamari and that's all that comes so you need to order 'sides'. Everything is now Eat, Drink, SHARE... Hmmm. The staff are welcoming as always, food is cooked very well and tasty but soooo pricey for the portion you get. Sadly, not my 'Go-To' place anymore.More

NOA is a nice neighbourhood cafe that is in a great location for a bite when you are visiting the botanic gardens. As visitors, we gleaned that it had a local vibe which was so nice for us….although unsurprising since it is out of the...main ‘zone’, but hugely welcomed!!! Cairns felt pretty grimy to us and this cafe was far from that! It felt good. It’s probably poor form to ‘complain’ about receiving too much ‘bang for your buck’ but wow, the pork and snapper salad was huge. It seemed to multiply the more we got into it!! The reef fish schnitzel is of course ‘crumbed fish and chips’ but the ‘title’ on the menu is imaginative and same goes for its appearance…with the curly fries being a fun throw back to the 80s or 90s!! :) Our proper ‘complaint’ was about the cocktails. They took forever to arrive and then ONE arrived but we were told the second wasn’t possible to make as they’d run out of something. Sadly they didn’t tell us what the ‘something’ was so when the second choice was selected they later returned to say that that cocktail also contained that same ‘something’ - so no go. It was quite a DER moment - and annoying as it was soooo hot! So finally we had two cocktails on the table but it felt too much like hard work given the pricing of them. By that stage they should have been offering something on the house! So - food EX… drinks not so EX!More

While the atmosphere is very appealing, and the service generally good (prompt to seat, appropriate level of checking in/drinks service etc), what really let’s this one down is the food itself. While I am all for fusion and flavour, the offerings here are overwhelmingly abundant...with flavour profiles which don’t really work. I opted for the reef fish, which was served with lentils and a coconut cream sauce, a sprinkle of fennel and a rather odd blueberry jus which tasted both overwhelmingly sweet and fishy all at once. With the exception of the jus this was mostly pretty meh as far as a meal goes. Oddly the dish was also served with a roti (highlight of the meal … by a long way), rice and pickled vegetables (cabbage, zucchini and .. pickled potato??). The pickled veg tastes oddly floral in addition to vinegary, evoking noted of washing up liquid. None of the components seemed to really compliment one another, nor tasted particularly great on their own. The exception being the roti. Perhaps my palate is just not as sophisticated as is needed to appreciate this particular gastronomic extravaganza. There were certainly plenty of tables in the rather bustling restaurant that seemed satisfied, but my dining partner and I were both left … confused. This was not the first attempt at NOA, finding brunch to be a similarly odd flavour experience. While I’m a fan of the general vibe and the area, I’m not sure I’ll be racing back again sorry. There’s definitely fusion options in Cairns that are more successful so I’m keen to stick with those instead.More

Our Saturday night dinner for two was similar to a couple of recent reviews that weren’t overly favourable to Noa’s food. However, let me say up front that the service was impeccable and friendly. The buzzing atmosphere was also good as long as you aren't...looking for a quiet dinner and conversation. My wife and I chose the 5 course plus dessert tasting menu and most of the courses were well-presented and enjoyable. However, a few of the dishes didn’t quite hit the mark and one was a shocker. That shocker was the Fermented Cabbage that came out as one of the courses. I like fermented food such as Kim Chi but this Cabbage was merely leaves that seemed to have been doused with a lot of Vinegar sitting on a bed of what tasted like plain Yoghurt dressing: it was inedible for both my wife and me. Had this dish been provided as a fresh side salad to a strong other dish perhaps it would fly but certainly not on its own. It didn’t taste good, wasn’t as described on the menu, and would soon be taken off the menu according to the Manager. Apparently, we weren’t the only people who have complained about this dish. The dish was however kindly replaced by another; the Vietnamese Spring Rolls which were fine except that the accompanying sauce was poor. If you’re going to serve Spring Rolls and call them Vietnamese then you had better know how to make a good Nuoc Cham sauce; this Chef didn’t. The other dishes were tasty but the Lamb Rendang could have been a touch more strongly flavoured, although being OK. The accompanying rice and Roti were great. The Dessert similar to an Affogato was also good. Overall the value of the tasting plate at $85 dollars for what was six courses certainly was value for money but given the lack of attention to detail in some dishes and the one shocker dish, we won’t be back. There are too many other good restaurants in Cairns and surrounding areas to justify going back to Noa again unless something changes.More

Having just got back from Noa after dining in their Corked and Truffle menu. When we arrived to our table we noticed other diners having been served but we were somewhat forgotten. My husband called to a waitress who came over and said oh your...wines. When our first dish arrived ‘the miso butter scallops , sauce amazing but scallops over cooked. The next dish was mushroom tart, asparagus and truffle. Just a little lost and accompanying wine didn’t really marry into the flavours. Third dish was risotto which came out as mush, extremely disappointing and inedible . It was a pity that truffle was wasted on this. Lasagne with truffle. A basic lasagne with truffle really should have been fresh pasta, good quality olive oil and shaved truffle another dish which wasn’t great . Last dish dessert truffle with chocolate frozen mousse and lemon crème fraiche did not work plus the wines did not enhance the flavours. Overall disappointing evening.More

So so disappointed. Ordered a creme brulee, can't go wrong with this choice you think, but yes you can ... must have been popped into the microwave for a minute before they served it. Not long enough to warm it properly. Warm and cold spots...all through it , very hard to enjoy any taste. Waiters buzzing around the big tables, couldn't catch any one waiter to tell about it. Food poor and service poor.More

I went there with some friends and no one welcome us but we had to make ourselves notice so we could seat somewhere. One time ordered our drinks and our food we had to wait quiete a long for receive 1 of'em, the Bartender talking...at the phone instead of preparing our drinks and that was already annoying by himself. But we kept our hopes up for the food and when we finally got it, unluckily it was nothing special, so when we finished we were quite disappointed from this experience, I don't see myself coming back here in the nearest feature.More
