Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I know it’s closed but just wanted to give a 5 star r/v to show our appreciation. We moved from Cairns to Melbourne a year ago and had some great pizza here but none better than at Alessandros!.

I am a big fan of wood fired pizza and this was one of the best I have ever eaten. It was a long wait but well worth it once our hot wood fired pizza arrived at our table. Our young waitress was attentive and...friendly and approached our table every time with a warm and welcoming smile. We were visitors to the lake placid rainforest retreat and this restaurant only a five minute walk away is worth popping into if you are staying in cairns.More

Excellent service, beautiful spot in the rainforest. Pasta well cooked, tasty, dessert- chocolate tart- ‘to die for’. Highly recommend

The pizzas that we ordered came to our table, eventually. We had to wait quite a while. Maybe they wanted us drunk before we ate. Who knows. But it was not all that busy. Most of the outer crust was awesome. That's where the good...news ends. The further into the centre of the pizza you venture, the flatter, soggier and more aweful it gets. Far too much salt was used. Parts of the crust and base were rendered inedible by the excess ingredient. And if you're lucky you will only be missing half of your chosen toppings. Not good, just go to Villa Romana.More

A Wednesday night and only pizza available we are told . Only 2 staff chef and owner . In spite of booking - had to wait 15 min for a table . Waited 30 minutes for the drinks to come …..despite the service lag times...I must say it’s some of the best pizza we have had in a long time . We left having had a good time and very pleased with the meal . Friday / sat / sun I’m told have a full kitchen open with pasta and other alternatives available .More

First time visit to the restaurant with interstate friends, the place was very busy and meals took awhile to come out. The gnocchi was amazing but was the size of an entree yet the other meals quite large. The garlic bread/pizza was not very garlicy...and quite dry. The pizza was strange as the ingredients were not spread across the pizza evenly but in separate areas on the pizza. So all the meat was on a slice, all the artichoke on another slice, it was quite strange. It was a nice meal but I probably wouldn't go back.More

The pizza was absolutely fab! Despite being understaffed and potentially slightly longer wait times, the service was still gracious. Shani, the bartender, was absolutely fantastic - we loved her! We had a great night and really recommend heading here for some proper classic Italian pizza.

The pizzas here are the proper Italian kind - My friends partner who is Italian travels here from the other side of Cairns regularly to eat at Alessandro’s. The setting is quiet and ambient right on Lake Placid near rainforest. They even hosted a techno...dance party here one night which I went to with a friend. But it’s all about the Italian food at Alessandro’s & after coming several times I highly recommend the pizzas here.More

Well yes, the negative feedback I understand but hey, when the pizzas are this good, it is a bit precious. The waitress was absolutely lovely but somewhat ineffectual. So what !! The setting is beautiful and the food I had was great !!

As a local, considering current circumstances, I’m making special efforts to contribute to local businesses. So...I organised a large group of friends, made a booking and headed here recently....almost every aspect of this lunch was dismal from the moment we arrived. Service was poor, unprofessional...& unfriendly. Wait time for anything was ridiculously long (restaurant by no means full) Food was delicious although overpriced. Certainly won’t be heading back in a hurry for the risk of further disappointment.More

The pizza's here are amazing. The view is amazing. That's where it ends unfortunately. We are locals who eat here regularly, but quite frankly, are getting sick of the lack of staff employed on the floor, with no personality, which results in poor service. As...a business owner myself, I understand the importance of not under staffing, employing someone with a bit of experience and spunk. They don't have to be stunning.......just engaging. A little bit of history. 4 weeks ago, we were overcharged by $40. Checked our receipt in the car as we had both thought that the price was a little absurd for one pizza and two drinks each. Perhaps an honest mistake. But there was no apology made when we went back in to the restaurant. More like a shrug of the shoulders. The restaurant gives a slice of wood fired oven bread and olive oil along with a superb balsamic as an appetizer on the house. We love this touch and look forward to it. For the second time however, we were not offered this treat, albeit we were the first in the restaurant for the day. A family of 4 sat directly behind us some 30 minutes later after we arrive and their bread was not only delivered, but delivered by the chef!!! We even had to ask for some table water. When our pizza arrived, the waitress asked if we would like a plate each. Ummmm yes, unless you want us to eat off the table!!! We have taken several groups of friends here, however sadly , we won't be returning. Just over itMore

Only 6 tables with 20 people seated and it took the waitress 15 min to come and ask is if we wanted water, by this stage we had already figured out what we wanted so we tried to order our sparkling water and two Bloody...Mary's, the waitress basically said she didn't know what that was. Whilst we had her we decided to order our wine and food as we weren't sure when we would see her again. Out of the 5 dishes we ordered she proceeded to tell us that 3 of them were unavailable. It would have been nice if she told us that when she gave us the menus. Eventually she brought the wine over and we had to ask her for our water. The most useless waitress I have had in 25 years. God help them if the food is terrible.More
