Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. What we considered to be one of the est pies in Australia is now a poor shadow of itself. From a inner city location to a drive thru and limited choice out of town is a really strange move

Just went for some milk shakes on a memorable day. It's a basic cafe with nothing flash on a Saturday around 11am we ordered 3x milkshakes, 1x pie, 1x sausage roll. Everything is nice some things can be pricey. Overall it's a lovely treat place...not a super regular place.More

I had the traditional meat pie - delicious. I went back quite a few times, trying a different meat pie flavour each time and all were delicious. Seating available outside the bakery and they were happy to serve on a china plate with paper napkins,...and cutlery - fantastic. Friendly service, with a smile.More

We went through the drive thru this morning which is really easy to access and got some pies and coffee. Everything was so good and nice quick service with friendly staff. Definitely recommend and will return.

We stopped here for a quick lunch and had a couple of delicious sandwiches. We were still a little hungry so we opted to have the pancakes. They were made fresh to order and were super delicious - the highlight of our lunch!!

If I rate the whole establishment it would be a 3, a good average Australian bakery.... BUT... these are no ordinary pies. They are quite possibly the best in Australia. The fillings are so generous and genuinely taste like their description. I'd sacrifice some sort...of body part for their steak diane and mushroom pie!More

After 5 different pies purchased ($37.50) and all much smaller than previously were, more expensive and less than half the range we new we were in trouble. The pastry crumbled apart and filling was dry and in all pies the consistency was high levels of...salt. Chunky beef was chunky gravy, dry out peas on top of pea pie and looks like they warmed up from yesterday. Chicken pie so dry there was no sauce and shrunk within its pie shell. This was so far from a Meldrums pie its unbelievable. I decided to go online to see if others had the same taste of change I did I saw many reviews stating the same thing. I see the new owner comments that the recipes are still the same and they might be. If thats the case they are just not being executed like they should. Pies were given to the dog as we couldn't eat them and is sad as we drove all the way in to get them. Sadly another Cairns favourite gone.More

Such a disappointment ever since it changed hands in 2020. Used to be the best pie shop ever, now I wouldn’t even bother. They have halved the menu (no more chicken Caribbean pie) and what they did keep is executed poorly. When I asked why...the menu had been halved, the server seemed clueless. The pies have a different flavour and consistency to how they used to be. I read a google review where the new owners rudely blamed the old owners for serving gluten free products containing gluten (proof?). New owners out of touch completely with the customer base and seem to have little interest in keeping those customers happy. It’s a shame they get to keep the 5 star ratings off the back of the previous owners hard work. This Place definitely doesn’t warrant those reviews!More

It’s been a few months since we were last in Cairns, Meldrums has been my go to for pies since I was young! But this was such a disappointment, for $31.50 we got a sausage roll and 3 pies The sausage roll fillings had shrunk...to half the size of the sausage roll and hardened as if it were sitting in the hot box for days. The pies were smaller than they used to be with different pastry which was hard and overdone, the fillings themselves seemed the same but other than that this is not the Meldrums we loved. Stars are for the staff, service was lovelyMore

Admittedly I haven't had a pie from Meldrum's for some time, but as soon as I removed my lamb and veggie pie from it's bag (I didn't buy it) I could see it looked different, i.e., it was smaller and the pastry wasn't the same....First, second and subsequent bite of it confirmed it was bland! So I googled to see if Meldrum's had been sold and it appears it has. Meldrum's is no longer pies in paradise, it's now just your standard pie shop.More

We had a recommendation on trying Meldrums on Grafton St in Cairns. So when the time arrived today we were excited to try it out. Cookies and Cream milkshake was ok from the youngest, I tried it too and the milkshake at the bottom lacked...some taste. I think all the taste it on the top and outside as decoration on the glass. Yes it has a little taste of cookies and cream not a lot. Carmel milkshake was nice too. The best part for me was the Chicken Curry pie, was it worth 8 bucks....it was worth a treat but I couldn't buy one every day. Not stocking GF anymore, disappointed. Will look elsewhere in Cairns.More
