Was here around 8 years ago and it was sensational then and still is. I have cooked from Philip Johnson's books many a time and his work always attracts great praise, even for a home cook. To sit and eat his food at E'cco is...More

Quite compact restaurant and not too noisy. Pleasant wait staff giving good friendly service. French style menu, both starters and mains well presented. The fish of the day was particularly good, a nicely fried fillet, sauce and prawns. The cheeseboard was fantastic, with real French...More

Looking forward to a fairly smart dinner we arrive at 7.30pm promptly as we believe we had booked. The restaurant is at best one third full. With a surprise greeting ,well almost a scolding, we were informed we had booked for 6.30pm(had we ?) but it would...More

We've had two wonderfully delicious meals at E'cco, and I particularly like the fact that they have a dedicated vegetarian menu. The food presentation is elegant and the silver service is attentive whilst being discreet, This is unfortunately spoilt somewhat by music more suited to...More

Top class fare served professionally in a lovely buzzing environment. If anything the available options could be a tad ott but that's not a complaint.

Excellent array of choices, with the number of ways you can even approach the menu. Degustation with 7 plates, or 5 plates, or just 3 plates to be chosen. Then there is the old faithful à la carte selection! We went for the 3 choices...More

Unfortunately this extra special celebration organised by my children was very disappointing. I ordered snapper with prawns for my main course. I was really looking forward to this as the waitress told me it was a new menu. When it arrived the snapper was ok,...More

Tasked with choosing a venue for a 40th wedding anniversary, we chose E'cco. The majority of the reviews we read prior to the meal were encouraging. However, the night itself was memorable for all the wrong reasons. For all the promising reviews we'd read, the...More

We have been wanting to go to E'cco Bistro for ourselves after reading all the fantastic reviews for it. Brisbane is coming along way with its Cafes and Restaurants and E'cco is definitely the Cream off the top. It is brilliant. We decided to do...More

We dined on a quiet rainy Tuesday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From start to finish our experience was wonderful. My husband and I had the 3 course menu and each course was beautifully presented and had exquisite flavours. The miso pork and coal...More

Description
To much anticipation by Philip Johnson's strong local following, e'cco bistro opened its doors in 1995, starting what has turned out to be a Brisbane landmark restaurant. Located in an historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse oozes with character an ambiance. Almost twenty years on, e'cco underwent a total refurbishment in October of 2014, giving it a contemporary look, yet preserving the inviting, warm bistro feel that has stood the test of time.

As Philip says "We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available."
