Three of us went back to E'cco to celebrate a significant birthday. We have been going there about every two years since 2002. The food was superb as it always has been. The service was attentive yet discrete. It was also very good value for money.

Came here on a Tuesday night and it was nearly full. So I thought it should be really good but it turns out really average especially there are some other fine dining restaurants around this area and I think providing better food and service. I tried the award wining dish duck breast and I can't believe the dish is from... More

This sits on a quiet corner (at night at least) which if you need a close pinpoint on a map, is next to Diddams lane. We felt that it was pricey (starter, main and 1 glass wine X 2, and 1 pumpkin) was $220. Walked in without booking and were seated at once at a nice table. It was a... More

Delicious meal at Ecco, and wonderful service by Axel. We ordered a sparkling wine and mains plus fries and side vegetables. Steal was cooked perfectly although sliced in half (to check doneness?), although jus had a burnt flavor. The salmon was perfect with crispy skin. Duck was also beautiful. Pork chop had a weird grated vegetable accompaniment, but meat cooked... More

Last night was our first two hatted dining experience. I have been waiting for about a year to eat at this incredible restaurant. The tasting menu is the perfect solution for those who want to eat everything (like myself). It did not disappoint! Each course is unique and contributes to a dining experience that leaves you feeling that you have... More

If you want a "special" meal out this is perfect! The degustation 5-course menu was great food and matching wines wonderful. Bit pricey ($320) for two which is a bit past our usual limit but if in Brisbane and want that extra special event, it is worth it! A walk along the river is needed after the event and beautiful... One of the problems with an established institution, is they get stale. No so at E'cco. Have eaten here many times for over 15 years, and was pleasantly surprised. Had a table for 6, and was quickly seated. I had the chicken parfait with buttermilk cracker. It was thoroughly enjoyable and imho better than the famous meat fruit by heston.... More

I'll start with the annoying bit (first world problems I know hehe). Made a booking for me and my parents who I hadn't seen in months! They flew in from Adelaide and I flew in from Melbourne so it was a special occasion. Had a booking at 20:30 and we were running a bit late from all the sightseeing in... More

Disappointed ! The food was wonderful but let down by poor service Food service was incredibly slow and not ordered. We viewed 4 other tables who arrived after we did served food before us. There was no return to the table to check if we were satisfied. Even the Coffee Club do this!! 101 customer service! I ordered octopus and... More

Description
To much anticipation by Philip Johnson's strong local following, e'cco bistro opened its doors in 1995, starting what has turned out to be a Brisbane landmark restaurant. Located in an historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse oozes with character an ambiance. Almost twenty years on, e'cco underwent a total refurbishment in October of 2014, giving it a contemporary look, yet preserving the inviting, warm bistro feel that has stood the test of time.

As Philip says "We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available."
