Went along in a cold Saturday night & sat on the terrace (quiter there as a couple of families with kids celebrating inside) - they lit the gas heater for us & cafe blinds were down so pleasant.
Decided to just have mains & 5 meals & 2 tubs of rice were just enough for us. Meals were spicey & fragrant - duck red curry & chicken satay were picks although the beef, prawn & pork dishes were also great.
It is byo wine, but is licensed to sell beer & wine as well as spirits.
Restaurant has indoor air-conditioned, covered outdoor & uncovered outdoor to select from. There is ample off-street parking.
Staff are always friendly. Pleasant evening and around $25 a head reasonable value

Thai cooks with a Thai menu. Pick a time when kids will not be there. Pleasant enough. Nothing great but nothing wrong. The service has improved from years ago. Worth a try

We have been eating Bruce and Penny’s Fantastic Thai food for many years, both at Ferny Grove and their previous restaurant on Race Course Road. We will keep going back as their food is delicious. We have never had a bad meal. Always starting with their curry puffs, we love all of their curries and special favourite stir fry’s are either their Satay chicken or Herb/Garlic/Pepper chicken. Bruce is always at the front counter with a greeting smile and genuine banter. We highly recommend the experience.

This silly old man wouldn't take my order and hung up on me all because I wouldn't give him my last name for the order: even though he had my mobile number. Initially I thought we'd lost connection so I called back but he wasn't having any of it. He didn't like my explanation as to why I wouldn't: due to privacy reasons, stop spam, etc..
Bad way to win hearts and stomachs.
If I could rate negative I would.
Terrible customer service.

How hard is it to give a name and phone number. You've got mine why shouldn't I have yours. This privacy rubbish doesn't wash with me at all. Total rubbish. I know most of my customers and a lot have been coming to us for 8 years without any problems. It's just common decency. I also text every customer when their order is ready and generally I use their name as well so if you're that paranoid about your name go elsewhere

I have been a regular at Thai on Ferny Way for almost 2 years, after a recommendation from a friend. Sometimes I eat in the restaurant, but most times order take-away. Bruce is always super friendly, very helpful with selecting gluten-free dishes (or tailoring for gluten-free if needed), and very organised when I come to pick up my take-away orders. Food is always absolutely delicious. Chicken satay skewers are amazing.

So, I went there with our family. The food was good, but took a massive party arrived, of about 15 people, and the food started taking for ever to arrive. I politely inquired to the owner simply to know if we were listed as before or after that big table, but he INSTANTLY flew into a rude rant, nearly shouting that we'd get served when that other table over there was served!
He had a big glass of red wine under his counter and seemed drunk.
That was a bit upsetting but he carried on again later, telling my family that clearly I did not speak well enough English (I do, I assure you all) THAT HE CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT THAT HE HAD ANSWERED MY QUESTION etc. Bizarre moment. Really odd.
Then he went on and on again when I tried to pay, clearly entirely missing the point that he had not answered my original question and that even if we had misunderstood each other, it gave him no call to shout rudely like that, without reason or warning.
AND THEN HE OVERBILLED US BY $100 AND 10 DAYS LATER WE STILL DON'T HAVE THE REFUND!
Apparently he has made the refund to some bizarre payment app called square something THAT TAKES NINE TO FOURTEEN BUSINESS DAYS TO PROCESS REFUNDS!
Amazing stuff. Just amazing. Food, ironically was pretty good and the waitresses are pretty friendly.

I am totally upset and disgusted by this total rubbish. Nothing is further from the truth. At no stage did I ever yell at you and I certainly was not drunk.At no stage that night was anybody kept waiting excessively. when you came up and asked me if you were going to be fed before the big table I said "YOUR NEXT" but you still kept asking the same question three times in fact. The second and third time I simply said it a bit louder and clearer certainly never ranting or yelling. You obviously still didn't understand and stormed off. Being concerned at this I went over to your wife an explained to her that you obviously didn't understand me and that your table was next and it actually came just a few minutes later. After I spoke to your wife you were clearly more offended which astounded me.
When you came to pay the bill you were still angry and mumbled something about the food was boring or I was (I couldn't understand most of it) and you wouldn't be back. I tried to make amends but you wouldn't have a bar of it. With all the carrying on I accidently pulled out the bill for the table next to you which was actually $104.20 more which you just paid and left.
A few minutes later the table next to you came to pay and then I realised I had charged you wrongly. I straight away refunded your card with the overcharge (which fortunately you can do with THE SQUARE APP) I didn't have your phone number to contact you.
A while later your wife came back and straight away I explained to her that I had already processed a refund and I then got her mobile number and Texted her a receipt. I also discussed with her that I was unhappy that her husband was upset and at no time did I purposely try to offend him. She told me not to worry about it and it was an unfortunate misunderstanding.
Probably about a week later your wife contacted me and advised that the refund hadn't come through yet. I then researched SQUARES FAQ and sent it to your wife. It explained that sometimes the take up to 14 business days to come through. This is normal with most banks ect to cover themselves. You wife contacted me again the next week and I then contacted SQUARE who advised that they had certainly processed the refund on the next business day. You were in on the Saturday night and the processed it on the Monday. At that stage it was only 8 business days. I then advised that maybe the holdup could be with your bank and advised her to contact them.
I might also point out that "SQUARE" is not some bizarre app. The company has approximately 7million users worldwide and the company is worth approximately 3.26 billion dollars. To date I have not had a single problem with them and they are far more efficient than the bank.
While I was trying to sort this out with your wife you wrote this review. I contacted her again and she told me it wasn't her and she would look into it.
FROM THE MOMENT YOU CAME TO MY RESTAURANT UNTIL NOW I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT HELPFUL AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET FOR IT. YOUR WIFE HAS BEEN VERY PLEASANT AT ALL TIMES BUT UNFORTUNATELY YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.

We have been regulars for some time & food is always fresh and genuine Thai. Our standard order starts with entree of duck rolls (our favourite). The coconut prawns were a winner tonight - just divine. Apart from entree we vary our meal order each time we visit and the quality and flavour is outstanding. They don't deliver but do offer pickup if you can't sit down to eat like we prefer to do.

This has become a regular for us now. I have made an effort to order a new / different dish each time. And each time I am more than pleased with my choice. Very tasty, perfect portion size, friendly efficient service. The restaurant itself has a great feel with warm ambience. We all look forward to our next visit.

Quite good and ftesh food. Initial service but was a bit slow however meals came out a reasonable time.

We are regular at this lovely local and always enjoy our meals. I make sure I try something different each time. Curry, Stir fry, Noodles.....Mum had a sweet and sour during the week and is still talking about it! A very spacious restaurant with plenty of seating inside and out. A nice little bar to sit at, esp, if picking up take away.
Great staff and good service, BYO wine .....why go anywhere else? Love this place.

Dined with a group of 6 on Sat night.
Good location and ample parking.
Pleasant bar area for pre-dinner drinks.
Service was prompt and friendly and all enjoyed their meals very much.
Well worth a visit and as weather cools the out door area will be great.

My nephew and I had dinner here recently. it was a sweltering evening and with all the doors and windows open, the air-conditioning was struggling so we ate on the terrace, but there was little breeze.
The service was excellent and the food delicious, but on reflection, I feel that a bill for nearly $95 for a generous bowl of prawn crackers, a Pad Thai with seafood, a Yellow Curry with rice plus two beers and two ciders is excessive for what is merely a neighbourhood restaurant. Sadly, I just paid and did not ask for a receipt, so it is quite possible that a mistake was made.
If I eat there again, I will take much more care to check the bill before paying.

Have eaten in & got takeaways from the restaurant. Food always nicely spiced & well cooked. Nicely stocked bar for dine in or as you wait for your takeaway. Good variety of food & authentically cooked.
