Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent service. Great GnT. EXCELLENT steak. I mean REALLY GOOD. They made a real from scratch Red Wine Jus and the pepper sauce was creamy and peppery. Also the waitress suggested that we share the steak which was great because I can’t eat 350g of...rib fillet. Beautiful ambience. Only downer was the piped disco music. Would have expected something more in keeping with the rest of the mood.More

I love steak and have enjoyed my favourite cut, T-bone, all over the world for many years. I ordered the 500 g T-bone medium rare at the Black Hide Steakhouse at Caxton Street in Brisbane recently, and it was the worst steak I have ever...eaten—tasteless, tough, overcooked, and I suspect underweight. It was also the most expensive. Very disappointing.More

Staff were exceptional. Perfect service. Very attentive and friendly. Nice touch at end of meal with complimentary desert as was our anniversary . Opportunity to improve is in food quality. Food was fairly bland and have cooked better meals at home. An improvement in chefs...performance regarding taste would be a vast improvement BarryMore

After great expectations we were sadly disappointed. None of the entree's on the night appealed to us, so we skipped that step. We were provided with a bread roll each, which I am sure are the part baked rolls from the supermarket, along with the...tiniest piece of butter that wouldn't be enough for one roll, let alone two. I am not sure why they need to skimp on this? Our steaks were tasty and cooked to our liking; although hubby had a lot of fat and gristle he couldn't eat. I had fillet so, avoided that problem. The accompanying potato dish (allegedly Wagyu fat roasted potatoes, rosemary & garlic) wasn't as good as the description and it didn't help I could see them all prepped and lined up ready to go on a high shelf opposite to where I sat. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient; a shame she was regularly being remonstrated by, who I assume was the maitre de? Who although not nice to say about anyone, needed to wear more deodorant, as it was off putting. We booked and paid for parking which wasn't necessary as we were in and out very quickly. Walked up to the Barracks and had a comparable glass of wine in Tiger Eye at a fraction of the cost. I don't like to be negative, but also feel the need to be truthful when leaving reviews. I am told Black Hide in The Treasury has better reviews, so perhaps I'll give them another go there?More

Incredible food - the steak is next level - and the service was unreal. We absolutely enjoyed every minute. We had about 12 of us and we all enjoyed our experience.

Dined here on a Saturday night and staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had the set menu, starting with really delicious gluten-free bread which was a nice touch. I often miss out on bread for being GF! For entree, my husband had yellowfin tuna...which he said was delicious. I chose the beetroot dish with goats cheese. It was nice but perhaps a nicer dressing would have elevated the dish. We both chose steak for main and they came with potatoes, mixed leaf salad and green beans. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the salad and beans were great sides. Just what the steak needed. My pepper sauce was outstanding - really delicious sauce. For dessert we both had the cheesecake with sorbet and honeycomb. It was nice but not my favourite dessert. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. Beer menu is very disappointing but otherwise, great service, delicious food and good value banquet menu.More

If I could have marked an extra half a point I would have Will start with the service once we walked in the door, it was exemplary. Staff were on point The entrees and side dishes for the mains we had were 100 %, magnificent....We shred dishes and all were happy. The only ever so slight let down was my steak. Now I'm not saying it was bad at all, it wasn't. It was very very good. Perhaps my expectations were way too high, but I'm marking it down half a point for the bit of gristle and perhaps the cook on the steak wasn't quite what I'd expect of medium rare. Others were probably a bit happier than me. Either way it was a great experience and I enjoyed the meal Either way it's aMore

Rushed, rushed, rushed. Food poorly cooked - steak cut in two - yet still served rare. I loathe when restaurants cut meat in two. Don’t claim to be a steakhouse if you can’t cook a 280g steak medium-well done. No apology! Waiter had no clue...about wine, brought the wrong bottle twice. Poor form to have to give the corresponding number from the wine list! As soon as we said no dessert, despite still having half a bottle of wine to drink, they offered the bill. We politely declined and asked them to bring it once we had finished our wine. No luck there, the bill was furnished in any case. We then noticed a couple waiting for a table, so despite being there for less than one hour, they wanted to seat another customer. We have been regulars at Black Hide but clearly they were not on form last night and not worth the $250+ we paid. Perhaps the manager, who was conspicuous by his absence last night, might take time to respond to this feedback but unfortunately, if last night was anything to go by, that won’t be the case.More

We hosted our customer while visiting for a conference. In total nine of us around a single large table with plenty of room. Excellent selection of drink and wines as well as a good selection of entrees and mains. Desserts were pretty good as well....Food and drink service was attentive and knowledgeable. Really good evening.More

Overrated. Have to book for dinner but hardly anyone there. Dinner for 6, overprice with average meal. Waiter doesn't have a clue what they doing. Order 2 fish meal and after 10 minutes they come back just to tell - don't have a fish, ask...for vegetable - dont have it. Might as well close down business if you showed menu but not available to order..$450 dinner for 6 with 2 star rating service, should have gone to specsavers!!More

From the moment we entered, it was tense. The Maître De was a terrible host! From pushing his staff around to answering questions like it was the biggest drama of his life, we would not be back. Totally get that staff and supply chain issues...make life stressful but his job is to keep calm and manage it and not make your guests feel like irritating burdens. The food was ok.More

Booked a table for 8 people from work to dine with visiting managers. Normally, we'd go to Deerys at the Storey Bridge but due to renovation work it was closed. I checked to see what were the best steakhouse 8m Brisbane, and this place showed...up. I called and booked over the phone and received 2 follow up texts and SMS for the booking. Here I was thinking...wow...these guys are serious! Anyway...we order 2 of every starter and two bottles of red. We ended up getting one of each. Starters were small portions and one round was not enough. So we had to wait to gey the 2nd round. Starters were ok.. oysters were yum. As for the beef tartare, it came out and didn't look or taste like I expected. Tiny portions as well. For mains, most of us ordered steaks. Very fancy menu with wagyu, 5+, 3+.... Once they started coming out, the steaks weren't cooked fully as we ordered. I ordered medium rare and thr middle yes was medium rare but outer bits...overcooked and kind of burnt. I could've went to the Norman to get the same and way cheaper. Staff were ok...we had a young trainee, Tommy. Good kid, learning but other staff seemed snooty. So, not sure we'll be coming back or even recommending this. If this place is like this, not even sure I want to try thr Gambaro's seafood restaurant. Shame really .....More

We went to Black Hide or Walter’s for our son in law’s 40th birthday dinner. Our meals were superb - from the entrees to the steaks and sides to the desserts!! However, equally as good was the service we received. The people who were in...the earlier sitting would not leave so we had to wait 35 minutes to be seated. During that time, we were far from forgotten and were looked after like royalty. A good restaurant becomes a great one when you combine fine foods and wines with outstanding service.More

Was here as part of a group that pre booked and paid. The food was all pretty good. 2 steaks were served on alternate. Thus I did not get to order specifically or how it was cooked..... They were good but not great (wagyu rump...cap), though after I looked at the website and menu days later, the prices were much higher than I would have guessed My pub steak $15 cheaper the next night was better... Would go again if the company paid, but not if I paid. Service was Great, room was Great. No maleMore

I believe the cattle are not treated with hormones and the steaks are simply selected and aged for their quality.
