We had previously enjoyed breakfast at Site Cafe and so it was an easy and quick decision to pop down for breakfast on our Sunday morning. We were seated quickly and given some menus to have a look over. After about 5 or so minutes...we ordered two cold brews, a smashed avo with eggs and the Arabian eggs. From here it all went downhill. We waited half an hour for our cold brews to arrive, only for them to be plonked on our table with no word of apology for the length of time it took to pour some cold coffee into a plastic cup (being dine-in customers I had assumed we would at least receive our drinks in actual glasses). To add salt to the wound, we then saw the table next to us receive their coffees within 5 minutes of ordering them. Having coffees in our hands, we continued to chat for a little bit, assuming our food would be arriving soon. No less than 20 minutes later, a total of 50mins since ordering our food, we saw what looked to be our breakfast (and it was) come from the kitchen, be walked outside for a little bit, and then returned inside and placed on our table when it was established that the dishes were for us. There was no whisper of an apology for the length of time it took for our breakfast to make it to our table, and at this point it was basically brunch now that it was almost 11am. I immediately asked if we could have our food to takeaway, as my partner was starting work and so we needed to get home. The waiter was able to do this quite promptly and did apologise when he came back with our takeaway breakfast that it had taken so long. Upon paying, the waiter informed us she had removed our coffees from our bill and apologised again for how long everything had taken, this was appreciated. We drove home (less than a 5 minute drive) and began eating our breakfast. The smashed avo was reasonably good, eggs runny etc etc. The Arabian eggs, however, I was beyond disappointed with. The halloumi was so rubbery that it was almost inedible and I just could not eat it. The toast that came on the side was cold and rock solid. Granted we did drive home and I understand this may have affected the toast, however knowing that the dish was walked around outside before eventually being brought to our table makes me believe that the toast was cold and hard well before even being placed in a takeaway box. Had I eaten this breakfast at the cafe and it was of this quality, I would not have paid for it. From what we had hoped would be a lovely breakfast down at our local cafe, it turned into a morning of feeling stressed for time and frustrated at the disappointing quality of our breakfast. I doubt we will be returning anytime soon.More
