This is my local and love it. Dog friendly, good pub food, make a good cocktail, reasonable wine selection but lacking in Guiness. We go regularly, in fact weekly. Al

Great local pub with a chef that cooks the most amazing steak! Tell Sammy how you want your steak and that’s what you get! Staff are attentive, polite and welcoming.
My partner and friends took me to the Lord Stanley Hotel for a birthday dinner. What a treat. It’s a pub with a very clever and obliging chef. He told us we may have a little wait for our dinner so presented us with complimentary...garlic bread. Two steak meals, cooked absolutely to order, grilled salmon - ditto- and the biggest steak sandwich I’ve ever seen, were so good, the plates were soon clean. The wine/beer list wasn’t extensive but plenty of choices, and along with our meal at very reasonable prices. I’m looking forward to going back again soon.More
My brother’s new local for a birthday dinner. Greeted by a friendly chatty barkeep, took his suggestion for my drink and grabbed a beer. We took a table outside, it was a very quiet night, only one other couple dining. Ordered our meals at the...bar, made an offhand comment about no sauce on a steak. Went back to my table. When the very friendly waitress delivered our food, she referenced my comment, much to my delight! A joke at my brothers expense! I had the schnitty - a homemade large fillet - be prepared! No wafer thin bulk produced schnitty at this place. Bacon and beetroot jam - yum! Would totally recommend for a casual pub dinner.More
After many years since my last visit and my recent move into the area I visited tonight and both selected a 250 g Rump medium rare. The steaks appeared somewhat small but that was fine. Boy came medium well. The service behind the bar was...rather unfriendly and in general a lack of friendliness and little engagement or interest from the staff. The male bathroom had very strong and offensive urine stink. All in all the Stanley needs to lift its game and Management presence on the floor is necessary to make it happen.More
came to the lord stanley for dinner with a couple of friends, we were all very impressed with the food and the service, the staff were so friendly and attentive it really made our night enjoyable
Decided last minute to go for good with the kids on a Saturday evening. Never tried this place before but saw great kids menu online. Overall experience was great, staff were so friendly and food was good comfort food at a great price. Chef dropped...ice cream out to the kids, they were thrilled. Will definitely go back.More
So bad ....unless you want the full Fawlty Towers experience don't go near the place. Every 6 months or so i go back hoping things have improved but alas i am reminded by the cold food, poor service, long waits for your meal to turn...up, orders getting missed or forgotten. Don't expect all the meals to come out at the same time. More than once my fellow diners have finished their meals before mine has even come out. Usually understaffed. I also recently attended an event in their function room that provided finger foods but as many of us stayed on and were hungry they were unable to provide us with any meals, hot chips or breads because their 'kitchen was closed'. There was heaps of us who would have ordered a meal but they didn't want the $'s. What more can i say.More
Plenty of car parks.Loved the decor, booths were great. Our meal took a long time to come, with my side order coming out even later. Our friends, who ordered just after us,had to wait much longer. We had finished a long time before they even got theirs. It was not busy,so,no excuse...for slow service..The food and price were ok.From great expectations on arrival,it became quite a disappointment.More
I try and avoid the Lord Stanley and the only reason I go there is to visit a friend on the odd occasion and it never fails to let me down!! The staff have no idea! Average food, badly run and it's lucky the pub...is surrounded by desperates with no class! People with no class or taste will appreciate tho. Anyone with taste avoid it.More
I came here the other night with family and friends and was not disappointed. The bartenders served like champs and the quality of drinks was great. The food came out to us super quickly considering we were are large table of about 13. The chicken...schnitzel was so crispy and yummy, my only problem was that I asked for mash and salad and instead got a baked potato - luckily it tasted good anyway. The bruschetta for the entree was by far one of my faves I've ever eaten and I've been to many Italian restaurants which haven't made bruschetta quite like the one at the Lord Stanley. Will definitely be back..probably at happy hour when the cute tradies come in (according to the bartender).More
Long standing pub and restaurant in East Brisbane. Lots of locals frequent this pub and the meals are pretty good to.
I took some colleagues out from Melbourne for a mid-week lunch. I left embarrassed; embarrassed that I had taken people out for an incredibly average pub meal where I had obviously insulted them with my hospitality. There were so many other options in East Brisbane...where I could have gone, but I thought I would give the Lord Stanley a try. The table needed to be cleaned and we had to ask for cutlery. The fish of the day could have been bought from a street vendor given the presentation and I’m sure the quality would have been better if I had gone to a fish and chip takeaway. I couldn’t wait to leave. The food presented as if they were disinterested and the service reflected the same sentiments.More
Met friends here for an impromptu catch-up and a fun flutter on the horses. Has been a while between visits (maybe 12months?) and really noticed an improvement- from staff to clientele to food menu. Staff were hands on and ample in number. It was busy...and there wasn't a long wait for service on drinks or bets. Staff were very knowledgeable on the Keno process (as I'm not really!). Cheerful atmosphere and very pleasant indeed. Tab area was kept tidy and well stocked with the betting cards, pens etc. Have always enjoyed the food here. Ate the prawn and avocado salad yesterday - it was delicious. Trio of dips was just your average dips - but priced accordingly. So good to have a decent pub in the burbs.More
Think $12 for flathead or a steak for lunch at the Lord Stanley Hotel, and they're very good indeed. I wasn't that familiar with East Brisbane and I found myself travelling along a one way road - a very Brisbane thing is the one way...road! - and saw an antique store or two. One was closed and the other, "Cottage Garden Nursery"- more a bric-a-brac store with café and garden nursery and gift store and ladies apparel, was open. So I parked in front of a BP station 100 metres up the road and walked back and went in and found just what I needed: an old Scandinavian art work- a stone shaped like a walrus and with two little tusks added. I know it was Scandinavian because a cousin brought one back many years ago, but hers didn't have tusks- maybe it was a seal. My one is now doing his duty keeping one of the French doors to my library from closing. And very smart he looks too- no name yet. I noted the Lord Stanley Hotel opposite the BP and earmarked it for a lunch and returned. Very nice staff and a $12 lunch special. I hadn't expected great things (but always live in hope) and was pleasantly surprised: a good beer garden under a canvas canopy, and very pleasing flathead with texture and flavour for $12 (I was tempted by the beef vindaloo but thought I'd leave that to Indian restaurants). I went back a couple of days later and tried the rump steak (medium rare) for $12, which came with a very tasty salad and chips and a red wine sauce on the side, and again I was taken by the excellent flavour of the meal and how tender the meat was. I asked the chef if the steak had been charcoal grilled and was surprised that it hadn't been; it was very good. Wine is fairly priced, as is the beer, and for a value lunch for people who dine out regularly and want to keep the budget under control, the old Lord Stanley isn't bad value at all. By the way, the Grinders coffee was very good too. I was glad I drove across the Story Bridge - a small version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge - which I enjoy doing, and I will do it again. Lord Stanley Hotel; remember it, Tallulah.More
