Beautiful setting and decor, very classy yet understated. Definitely an ‘occasion’ restaurant. Our server Luke was attentive and explained each item on the menu without being intrusive, we felt cared for. The Wine and Bar staff really knew their stuff, and even knew what cocktail I wanted before I ordered it. The food was exquisite.

We enjoyed the degustation menu to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The experience was magical. The service was spot on with attentive staff who were there when you needed them but didn’t hover or intrude. Silver service provided a theatrical backdrop for the exquisite food. Seven courses plus palate cleanses and amuse bouche provided a parade of tastes and textures that continuously surprised and delighted us. We didn’t choose the wine pairings but the sommelier helped us choose some beautiful wines by the glass and a fabulous and affordable champagne to make our night special. Some of the highlights were the champagne lobster entree, the juicy duck breast main and the absolutely fabulous honey and chamomile bee desert. I also had the best clover club cocktail ever. Altogether a memorable night to celebrate our Anniversary

Had a beautiful anniversary dinner here. My wife and I were very impressed with service and food, from the host greeting us on entry, to our waiter (lovely tall chap) and the sommelier pairings was on point. The food is to die for however my Tomahawk cooked perfectly(Med Rare) was like I died and went to heaven.......Amazing!!! They even gave us complimentary glass of bubbles and a special dessert plate for our occasion. Thank you again for your warm service, will visit again.

Due to my partners health issues we decided to dine in house at the hotel Rydges we were staying at of which Bacchus Restaurant is the main dining venue. We found the service offered by the staff on arrival was great when it came to seating and querying water and drinks but after that it did flounder. The ambience of the venue is excellent along with the decor and table seating is ideal as whilst it was a full venue seating you were provided a suitable distance between tables to have an intimate time. Unfortunately, it is there that our positive feedback ceases.
We found the menu lacked variety and it was more a situation of trying to create very different odd dishes instead of providing good solid option for all tastes. I am not saying we craved plain home cooking but did feel the menu was very limited. The steak appeared to reign supreme and only one special was offered which again was a steak. It was explained to us that it was a suitable in size to be a sharing plate for a main which we chose to order. Instead of receiving the one meal we received two. We questioned the waiter, who had to be flagged down as he didn't really find looking after our table was that important, and queried the issue of which he explained it was their mistake. So, the special consisted of a Wagu Steak, and we ordered side dishes to accompany which were so small that sharing was very limited. The steaks were cooked to perfection for our taste so that was a positive. On leaving the restaurant we requested our bill which charged us for two specials which we questioned after the feedback from our waiter and were told that as we had eaten part of each meal, they couldn't cancel the second charge. We paid but ensured that our booking for the following night was cancelled.
The location of Bacchus is among numerous other restaurants that we found far better in offerings and service. In my work I have eaten in establishments ranging from Cafe's to Fine Dining and Silver Service but I would never eat at this restaurant again when so many others are close at hand in the immediate vacinity.

Well what a shame! After coming here for many years, it was a complete letdown. The service was non existent- we had to ask for water every time we needed a refill, no one came and asked if we would like more drinks - that’s a massive saving of money for us, as normally we would have had at least 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine
The food was sone good some terrible, bread was fantastic and the crispy layer potato
But the Black Angus Rib eye was terrible, 3/4 of my beef was inedible, unrended fat and gristle.
As most of my plate was covered in this, it was a shame the lack of care the staff had.
No one came to che k how our meal was after it was served, and finally came and took the plate away with out even saying a word.
The prawns were also all left on the plate except for the one my partner tried - which was either old or frozen as well as being so over cooked it was pasty.
It was disappointing after all the years of fantastic food and amazing service we have always received, to be just a money number
No body of the 2 mangers and the host even said sorry.
Then you asked us to review the next morning, to which I did and you still did not bother to give us a reply.
So I wanted to wait and give you the chance to reach out before giving my review on my social media platforms. But still we heard nothing.
Unfortunately we will now find a new favourite restaurant to spend our money

Very average - overpriced and small portion sizes. Ended up getting additional food elsewhere.
The waitress got the order wrong and to be honest I’m glad. Originally we asked for the $105 steak, however got the $50. It was not evenly cooked, but at least we didn’t waste our money on the more expensive one.
The Cappelletti was a complete waste of money - around 6 TINY pieces for $49?! I was still very hungry by the end.
It felt like a money grab - in order to feel full you’ll need to get 2 of every section (starter, entree etc) and set yourself back $300+
The best part was the dessert - Apple and Hazelnut were delicious
Overall would not recommend, the price is not worth it

We made reservations via telephone for three. Upon arriving, the staff assumed we wanted the full tasting menu, which we had not ordered. We requested to look at the theater tasting menu but were told that particular option was not available. We were considering the al la carte options when the staff brought us the theatre menu. Two of us decided we wanted the theatre menu, and one would have a la carte steak.
We were told that we all had to have the theatre menu. It made no sense to us at all. If only two of us had reserved, we could have had the theatre menu. So it is clearly servable to two people. We tried to reason with the waiter who admitted it made no sense, but the outcome was the same. Very disappointing experience. We ended up leaving and finding somewhere else to eat, and we won't be back!

Food was a 10/10 and the service was even better. Ellie took amazing care of us and kept waters topped up all night long. She surprised me with a cocktail of her choosing, which was so delicious that I had to order a second one. Rory the sommelier told great stories about the BK wine vineyards and poured us some recommendations, which we both loved. The miso potato side was my favourite dish of the night, but all 3 courses were so good.
All staff were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very welcoming.
Overall, I had an amazing time being taken care of by the Bacchus team

I guess this is the restaurant for extremely rich boomers that have no care for good tasting food, but rather only care about having expensive food. All the food I had there was served in extremely tiny proportions and tasted absolutely mid. And the final bill for more than a couple hundred dollars. The service was great, but the value and taste of the food was absolutely horrendous. Its cool for a fancy date or business meeting, but I would not go there for a dinner again.

We ate at Bacchus in August 2022. I have been looking forward to this restaurant opening again after a long closure for covid. Our anniversary was just the excuse we needed to travel to Brisbane for an evening at Bacchus. We had a ball. A time to rival any of the best fine dining experiences from our former home town, Sydney. Bacchus is comparable to all the well know Sydney establishments, Sepia (sadly now gone), Tetsuya's, Marque, Aria and the like.
We were looked after by Anna, an absolute professional with just the right touch of warm and friendly. Knew the menu back to front and was very engaging. We chose the Sommelier's wine selection to go with the 11 courses of the degustation and the Sommelier, Christie walked us through each selection. It always surprises me when someone so young has such a breadth of knowledge about their craft. Christie knows her stuff, and when time permitted she would regale us with entertaining and informative anecdotes about the various wines and vineyards, some humorous, others quite dark. She added a joy to the evening rarely found, even in some of the finest restaurants.
The food was first class with delicate yet complex flavours in the first dishes and flavourful punch in the latter. Go in winter and treat yourself to the mushroom cappelli with shaved truffle. Absolutely divine.
Expensive? Yes, it is, but no more so than comparable experiences elsewhere. Are the dishes small, as I see complained of in an earlier post? Well, yes, but that is what you get in a degustation, many small tasting plates. Those 'a la carte' meals we saw passing looked quite generous. Worth a return visit? Absolutely. Highly recommended for that special occasion.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere with fine dining vibe as soon as you walk through the door making you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy. Not only was there impeccable service and knowledge of the dishes but they were very well presented and tasted delicious. I will definitely be returning

Dull, bland, lacking character and distinction or even taste - this is the unfortunate truth about the supposedly 'highly rated' cuisine at Bacchus Rydges. The ingredients of the dishes on the menu appear delightful - but the combination & composition of the ingredients was timid and lacking any sort of 'signature' by the chef.
The expensive food was so tasteless and so unsatisfying that after eating the hors d'oeuvres and mains, we went to a nearby Spanish restaurant to have a real dinner.

We’ve been here a few times over past two years. The quality of the food and the service just weren’t up to scratch this time. Food was a bit bland and undercooked and not that warm. Service in the restaurant was polite but very slow. We didn’t finish most of the a la carte food. If there was a sommelier on duty we never met them which was sad. Too many other good dining options in Brisbane to come back I’m afraid.

High Tea. Unfortunately, our experience at Bacchus was not the best. The ambiance and beautiful surroundings were spoilt by the flies and dirty crockery. The sugar bowl had had brown sugar in it and had not been washed and the white sugar cubes where just thrown on top of it.

Not sure what constitutes "fine dining" today - old furniture, decor, table cloths, service etc. but there is nothing here that constitutes a special experience.
For me, the service and experience can make it special but after I've gone to great lengths to explain my wife's allergies and it is to be a limited dinner as we're going to the theatre, I was surprised to be welcomed by a server explaining the full menu and degustation options which were inappropriate for both reasons.
Nothing innovative or exciting about the menu although the mains were the weakest part of the night.
The best was actually a surprise, a mojito cocktail which had an explosion of flavours.
If possible, the best value is the 2 course tasting menu but is actually difficult for those with an allergy - hard to find a suitable entree so that a main course by itself becomes an expensive option.
Although their stock answer is "we're fine dining", can't agree when they choose to make it difficult for many.
A plus though is their house wine selection - did enjoy a glass of the Kaesler Shiraz Mourvedre

Dear Ron,
Seeing that explaining the layout of a menu is a standard here at Bacchus (since you yourself had no allergies) and a pre theatre set menu self implies 'limited' options (though the a la carte menu was also offered with a variety of options) I thank you for your time in writing this review.
