Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Make sure you get there early. The staff want to go home… We arrived at 9:15pm and were told rudely by the guy at the counter that he couldn’t seat us because we wouldn’t have time to order and eat before closing time at 10pm....He reluctantly let us in when we agreed to order as soon as we sat down. Three of us are Japanese and we’ve been to Wagaya many times before so we knew what we wanted… We spent $140 and were satisfied with the food, but we were rushed with the bill and felt less than welcome. Sorry to say that Wagaya needs to go back to square one on customer service. The attitude of the staff really ruined the experience.More

Great restaurant. Easy ordering via screen at table. Food and drinks came quickly. Fresh tasty food. Private booths. Definitely recommend.

Our first dining experience in this restaurant and we were less than impressed. Ordering was done through a digital device on the wall but this wasn’t pointed out by the person showing us to our seat. Once worked out, it was easy to place orders...and food came quickly. Our chicken rice was poor, the texture of some of the rice was as though it had been burnt at the bottom of the pot then scraped out. The dumplings were burnt and we sent them back. Sadly the replacement wasn’t much better. We ordered kebab style chicken and prawns and they were good. With so many good restaurants in the area we won’t be back.More

A poor representation of a Japanese dining experience only, We had their version of Okanomayaki and it was a tiny doughy consistency missing some ingredients of a Japanese pancake. The noodles in the Miso Ramen where stodgy with no tenderness. The sushi was okay but...sat on the counter for quite a while meaning the seared Salmon was cold when we got it. Machine ordering takes away the personality we look forMore

I love this place so much. It's one of the best Japanese Restaurant in Brisbane. The fresh salmon is beautiful. They also have some Japanese fusion dishes.

I had suki yaki, It was very tasty, but simply cooked in a hot pot with none of the usual table side cook service. The decor was ok, cozy wooden booths. The music sucked, not at all traditional Japanese but contemporary hogwash.

I dined at Wagaya in Fortitude Valley with my parents. The tablet that you order from was covered in dust and grime and looked like it had not been cleaned for a very long time. The food was also way below par. I ordered the...beef tataki and what came out was horrendous. The beef was way over its expiry date and had brown bits in the centre of the beef. Not to mention that the dipping sauce is not the classic Japanese ponzu sauce as you would expect. It was sickly sweet. This was expressed to the waitress where we even showed that the dish was inedible but no apology, no replacement and no deduction from the bill. Secondly, we waited for over 30 minutes for the spicy chicken karaage and I have to say it was not worth the wait. The colour of the chicken karaage looked so dark, bordering black, which means that the oil has not been changed for a very long time. Further, there were stringy bits in the karage, which indicate that the chicken had been re-fried. I am very disappointed in the food and the service provided at this establishment, where the concerns were vastly ignored and have to say that I will never be dining at this place ever again.More

What struck me first was the beautiful decor of this restaurant. They have cherry blossom trees adorning the corridor to the toilets and lovely watery booths. We ordered our food on the iPad at the booth which was quick and easy. A huge selection of...dishes to choose for at a reasonable price for an upmarket restaurant. We ordered the wagyu beef with shallots, curry and a rice. A very romantic setting.More

After a disappointing visit to Chinatown in Fortitude Valley, I decided to have dinner here. The venue seating has several booths with individual touch panel ordering. I had the agedashi tofu (which could have been more crisp) with soft shell crab, salmon belly sushi, scampi...sushi (delicious), octopus wasabi, and rainbow roll. The rice for the sushi was quite small, and could have been better cooked and seasoned with vinegar. Overall, a good experience.More

We went to Wagaya and the service was really good. I like this japanese restaurant, because they have some different items on the menu, for example, japense pizza, which was really nice. Would recommend a visit
