Right from the entry, the tone was set. It's been several years since I was last visited Olive Thyme, but it seems brighter, white walls and table linen. The Chef's Menu is the easy option giving a standardised bread, dips and entrée with a choice...of mains. Solid value at $68 pp. All the food was immaculately presented, a feast for the eyes. Dips excellent, the red pepper example, a standout. Bread was plentiful and tasty. Entrée consisted of the freshest lettuce leaf filled with baba ganoush. Mains of lamb cutlets and grilled eggplant were both served on (not too) spicy rice and beans with accompanying herbs and vegetables. Lamb was perfectly cooked, pink and tender; while the aubergine was elegantly crisped, the flesh, melt in your mouth. A simple desert followed. The wine list covers all based and is well priced. (Try the Kayra Öküzgözü from Anatolia for something completely different!) Spotted an epic cocktail at another table too! The staff were cordial and switched on. We were luck enough to meet Sibel, the owner, who took the time to chat about the food and wine, their origins. a pleasant time, indeed.More
