Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sensational night out with fantastic food and service. They have an amazing selection of wines to choose from. We especially enjoyed the fried artichoke as entree. This was a special birthday for my husband and well worth the visit.

Excellent food. Excellent wine list. Great friendly and helpful staff. Seated indoors in ‘the cellar’ . Best dish of the evening was the truffle gnoochi…everyone sampled it and loved it

Four dined for lunch on 22 September. Main courses were 1 Pappardelle, and 1.5 serves (500 gms each) of Cicale di Mare. Sweets were Tiramisu and Semifreddo. The Moreton Bay Bugs were complemented with a basil pesto cream and sundried tomatoes. The bugs were of...excellent texture but together with the cream, were a little bland. My cream contained one half of a cherry tomato which provided the needed “lift” to the palate, but needed a little more of the tomato, or another condiment for improved balance. Our waiter, who could barely speak English, ordered one dish of potatoes and beans (instead of three) which were not served with the meal and had to be chased up. The braised pork and beef Pappardelle was absolutely excellent. Deserts were fine. The wines were the highlight of the meal, particularly the Perone Moscato. This restaurant is celebrating 15 years trading and is one of my first choice dining destinations in Brisbane. Having just returned from living overseas for 6 years, it is still very fine, but could do with a little recalibration.More

We have been going to Enoteca for many years and have always classed it as Brisbane's best Italian restaurant. We love the ambience, the authenticity and the staff is brilliant. So, we were very disappointed to find on our last visit that the food was...under par. Either they have a new chef or there is a serious problem in the kitchen. The gnocchi (which I have eaten approximately 20 times over the years) was not the same. Usually, that first mouthful transports me - so, so good - the complexity of the sauce, the texture of the gnocchi, the sausage - usually a sublime eating experience. Sadly, not this time. Either they have cut back on the porcini, or truffle ... or something - I'm not a chef, but something was missing and the gnocchi itself was underwhelming and pappy. The meal was also not hot and the sauce had started to congeal before I was half way through. Then there was the saltimbocca - again, usually a family favourite. i did not recognise what the meal was when they brought it out - 3 discs of dark brown that looked like it had been reheated too many times, The prosciutto was hard and there was no hint of the sage that is an integral part of the flavour. Eating it was like snacking on fried leather - you could literally pick each slice up like a biscuit. So disappointing - and not a hard dish to make properly. This meal was also served not hot enough, which only added to the disappointment. I did not try the other two dishes served to our family, but both reported them to not be hot enough. On the good side, the bugs with pesto cream were heavenly and the bug meat perfectly tender. Wine, as always was fantastic, if (as always) expensive. If it were just this one night, I would not write a review, however friends mentioned recently when they held a large birthday dinner in the room downstairs that there were problems - pork was dry, again gnocchi under par etc. We love Enoteca and we love the staff, so it is a hard review to write. I hope our experience was an aberration, and that it will regain its status as Brisbane's best Italian restaurant.More

Easily the best dining experience I’ve had in years. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive and personable. If you are looking for a fully authentic Italian restaurant you should look no further than 1889 Enoteca.

We had a wonderful dinner for our wedding anniversary! The staff were exceptional, really making us feel welcome & looked after. The food was absolutely delicious & good sized portions so you were satisfied. The atmosphere was comfortable & romantic for us, while others were...enjoying bigger friend & family experiences. The staff were also informative about the wine & food which as novices of fine dining was a great help. Thank you will definitely come again.More

We went as a family for an early dinner and had a fabulous experience. The team were so friendly and helpful, they catered perfectly for our young family to ensure we enjoyed our meal and were finished before our little girls were too tired. The...food is exceptional, we started with the olives and Vitello Tonnato (an absolute must-try, sensational), followed by the Truffle pasta special (bellissimo) and Insalata (slightly too salty to accompany the pasta but still very tasty), and finished with the Bonnet for dessert (too delicious to share!). The friendly staff suggested the Cacio E Pepe minus the pepe for our girls and it was a hit, both finished every last bit. They didn't know we were there to remember my mum's anniversary, but they made the night extra special for us. We look forward to going back!More

Visiting Brisbane and had dinner with friends. The food was great and the service was excellent. They also were very helpful with my allergies. The Tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. It was a tad on the expensive side but I'd happily...visit again.More
