Don’t go there!!!! We were seated outside and while there was an overhead fan it was 34 C that day. We asked for water, the wait staff poured us each a small glass and attempted to leave taking the water carafe with her. She left...it at my request however within 10 minutes another wait staff arrived at our table, picked up the decanter, poured us each another small glass of water and refused to leave the decanter saying they weren’t allowed to and she would be around to refill when we needed. You can guess the rest!!! I ordered a pasta dish with an olive sauce, there were stones still in the olives. NOT RECOMMENDEDMore

DINER BEWARE - I ordered a $60 bottle of shiraz from the deli menu to complement our meal order. While I was chatting to my wife the wine was duly delivered by a staff member, the usual motions of placing the glasses, presenting the bottle,...decanting a small amount for tasting, waiting for the nod of approval, were made, and the staff member left. When the docket was presented for payment I noticed the bottle of wine was charged at $130. When challenged, the staff member disappeared. After some time somebody, who identified himself as the manager explained that (and I quote) "even though we made a mistake by bringing the wrong wine you will pay the $130 amount for the wine because you were presented with the bottle and accepted it" (that is during the bottle opening rigmarole), and backed up his argument by saying that..... "all restaurants in Brisbane would expect the customer to pay in this case"! My knowing wife quickly paid the bill and ushered me out of the establishment. All I can say is .... DINER BEWARE . I think the "manager" displayed incompetence and lack of experience in the fundamentals of customer service. Hopefully the owner(s) come to this realization before it is too late.More

Eggs Benedict for breakfast were perfect- eggs just soft enough, hollandaise sauce just tart enough. Mug of latte was generous and smooth. Juice well balanced. Also had lunch here. Pasta serving was more than I could consume, recommend sharing. Staff is efficient and pleasant

Called in for a morning coffee. As usual, service was prompt and relaxed. The Ricotta Cheese and Pear Cake was excellent; the Ham and Cheese Croissant was very moorish with excellent fresh ham. Good coffee topped off an indulgent interlude.

We had a dreadful experience upon picking up a $75 Crab Lasagna for a special family event that night. We had specifically requested the lasagna be UNCOOKED as we were picking it up at around 1:00pm to eat for dinner at around 6:00pm that night....Upon advising we were there to collect an order, the friendly staff member behind the counter presented us with a COOKED lasagna. Upon questioning this and stating that we had ordered it UNCOOKED, the staff manager said “sorry let me get my manager”. This is where it all went downhill very quickly. The “manager”, an arrogant, rude man came over and abruptly stated “WHAT’S THE PROBLEM”. A little dumbfounded, we explained that the lasagna was supposed to be uncooked as we were eating it 5 hours later for dinner. The “manager” then said words to the effect of “DEAL WITH IT, it will be fine, I’ve saved you time, just stick it back in the oven or the fridge”. Again, absolutely baffled that a manager would speak to a paying customer like this we enquired that it might make us sick given it was seafood, He abruptly stated, “IT WILL BE FINE”. After a heated argument he stormed off and left us with our salmonella riddled lukewarm lasagna to eat at 6:00pm that night. The original staff member, also a little rattled at how the “manager” spoke to us, apologized profusely on his behalf however not so much of an apology from the manager for his disgusting behavior, not so much as an acknowledgment that he had cocked up the order, no offer of how can we make this right for you mr and mrs customer, nothing. To make matters worse, we followed his instructions on how to keep the lasagna edible until dinner time and every single person that ate it went to bed and woke up with a queezy stomach and violent diarrhea. I hate to say I told you so mate, but I told you so. What a horrible man, this is the second instance we have had the same behavior from this “manager” who clearly hasn’t got a clue of how to deal with paying customers. I feel sorry for the staff members, and the owners of this wonderful restaurant having this man as the face of their business. How appalling, shame on you.More

We have been visiting New Farm Deli for many years as it is our favorite cafe/restaurant in Brisbane. It has a beautiful ambiance, the "real" Italian feel and the food is always excellent. We had lunch there yesterday and it was, as usual .... perfect....Over the years we have tried most of the meals on the menu - yesterday we had Vince's Spaghetti Marinara - one of our favorite meals, followed by Tiramisu and Cannoli - all very delicious. It was extremely busy, however, the staff operate like a "well oiled machine". They were polite, cheerful and well organized. The meals/desserts/coffee were perfect. Also the range of products/meals etc in the shop section is fantastic. Thank you NFD staff for another wonderful meal.More

I ordered Roast Vegetable Lasagne from the Christmas catering menu. It is not a Roast Vegetable Lasagne. The vegetables are lots of zucchini and some mushrooms. Not any roast vegetables. I had bought one earlier in the week and when I went in today to...pick up the lasagnes I ordered for Christmas Lunch tomorrow I complained. The owner said they put in vegetables in season. How silly. Doesn’t she know sweet potato and pumpkin are in season and can be roasted. I asked why call it roast vegetable lasagne as it is not and is misleading. Don’t trust you will get what you ordered. Check and ask questions and then you may not order. Then you won’t be disappointed.More

It is recommended by a local resident here. When I arrived the restaurant without booking, I found that there are a few persons queuing up. After waiting for a few minutes, a staff said that he could put me on the waiting list, with 2...tables before me, and estimated the waiting time to be 10 minutes. I wait for less than 15 minutes and got the table. Thanks for the help. The serving staff (a young lady) who is very nice to recommend the food and answer our questions as I am not too familiar with the Italian food. The food and the coffee are excellent. See the pictures - they look and taste good. Highly recommended. Next time, I will try to reserve a table before my visit.More

Q=Quality - 5 stars; The quality of food was superb - delightful presentation, food was hot, servings were very generous. S=Service - 5 stars; Sarah was our primary waitress (yet there was was a great team effort across many other team members who were friendly...and quick with their service) - Sarah was very informative with menu items, what to expect with serving portions (so over-ordering would not occur) - Sarah was very friendly - she gave us excellent service, & we provided 3 dad jokes - she was gracious to laugh at them. C=Cleanliness - 5 stars; with so much transition activity between sittings, the waiter team were very quick to keep tables clean & sanitised. The restaurant presented well with clean walls and floors. V=Value for money - 5 stars; for the quality & service you receive, the generous serving portions this restaurant certainly provides value for money. For those who are familiar with Papa in Sydney (Haberfield), and Brunetti in Melbourne (the Lygon St restaurant), this New Farm Deli restaurant/cafe is very similar to those famous restaurants (naturally, the Sydney & Melbourne restaurants present variations both in quantity and presentation). This Brisbane restaurant/cafe is very popular and it is highly recommended to book in advance, particularly on the weekend. Highly recommend this famous place for visitors to Brisbane - hardly worth mentioning this for those in the know in town. Total QSCV score 5 Stars.More
