Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible food, we ordered a variety of hot and cold dishes all unique and delish flavours. There was one waiter when it opened at 5 and he was very professional and friendly answering any questions we had. The karaage soft shell crab, salmon and scallop roll, spicy tuna roll, wagyu truffle, salmon ikura and sashimi tacos are all so so good.

High quality food, a great choice of drinks and very good service. Lots of dishes that are suitable to share Izakaya style. Loved the sashimi, karaage, pork gyoza and nasu dengaku. Thank you!

Enjoyed the service, had some of the chefs recommendations and didn’t disappoint. I’m just a traveler passing through and been here three nights in a row, will come back again one day.

Delicious, inventive, fresh cuisine. Far more to sample here than your average suburban Japanese place. Highly recommended.

A great little restaurant with fabulous food. A really nice night out. Seating is outside and a little crowded but worth it for the excellent food, friendly service and there is a sake tasting selection too.

I had lunch here on a Saturday. Among the vegetarian options, I got the Tofu bowl. It was good, although the service can be improved.

Found the café we were actually planning to go to was closed and saw Yuzu across the road ....thank heavens we did as it was AMAZING. Simple, elegant Japanese food bursting with flair, style and packing a flavour punch. The wagyu was delicate and melt in the mouth, the pork gyoza were perfectly balanced and the whole meal was superb. What a very happy accident for my friend and I to find Yuzu xxx

Great little gem of a restaurant on Brunswick St Newfarm.
After a dog walk along the river we were looking for an early lunch and saw that Yuzu had quite a few good reviews, we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, service friendly and efficient, prices very reasonable and kerbside tables are dog friendly; they even bought out a water bowl for our dog
The wagyu gyoza were full of flavour as were the truffled wagyu slices, and the salt & pepper calamari was crisp and perfectly seasoned. The tempura oysters were crisp fresh and succulent with a tasty little seaweed salad on the side. We finished with a sushi platter that had fresh sweet slices of kingfish, salmon nigiri and tuna roll. All the dishes were beautifully presented. Definitely going back as there were so many other options we wanted to try including the amazing array of burgers.

For a pinic in Merthyr Park we chose this inspiring Japanese cafe. It’s a small place near the New Farm cinemas with footpath dining and challenging parking. It has an intriguing menu of Japanese and Japanese inspired items including a Chicken Karage burger with a charcoal bun! Lots of interesting sides as well with reasonable prices. The service was friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a wait but we were told an accurate estimate of the cooking time. The food was well presented with modest sizes. We tried a variety of dishes including a burger and were quite happy. Definite an interesting one to try.

A restaurant of class and excellence. The Miso Salmon and Wagyu Truffle are to die for. Very reasonably priced for the level of quality that is provided!

You may have wondered if anyone else, other than the Japanese themselves, could prepare, cook and present Japanese cuisine? Well, here is an Indian chef (with a Japanese chef), together doing the good deed! Then there is the Sri Lankan waitress, as well as a Japanese waitress to explain the intricacies :) How intrepid! So your next question should be “Well, does it really work?” Definitely yes, for the food. Room for improvements in the front of house service and bar, though this should not put you off the pleasure of the excellence of the kitchen:- tempura figs with your chocolate cake dessert that comes with green tea ice cream! Yum! All good...

This small restaurant has customers flowing out onto the footpath. We had a bit of a wait getting menus and drinks sorted as it was quite busy but once we ordered the food came quickly. As a party of 3 we shared a selection of starters and sashimi. The food came out in regular intervals giving us time to enjoy each dish. Everything we ate was delicious. The snapper sashimi was amazing. Staff were courteous and happy despite being clearly run off their feet. I would definitely return to try the rest of the menu.

Yuzu & Co is a tiny innocuous restaurant just down from the New Farm Cinemas and we only tried it because we needed a pre-movie meal. It proved to be a hidden gem of sorts.
Whether it was a wonderful mix of modern dishes with strong Japanese influences or simply modern Japanese food is a question not worthy of debate, the quality is excellent and the flavours sophisticated and never overbearing.
Staff are friendly, helpful when it comes to menu choices and attentive enough to meet your needs whilst not disrupting your dining experience.
The place is tiny and it seems popular. Maybe book ahead to be sure of a table, or there seemed to be a constant stream of Uber eats deliveries departing from the kitchen window.
Not big enough for large groups, you could manage a pleasant meal for maybe 8 people at a time. Great for couples. The novel foods might be too much for a young child, but an adventurous older child could find plenty to eat.

Interesting twist on Japanese food that is good with some classics to balance out conformity. Loved the Kingfish Sashimi, salmon& scallop sushi & fun tempura sweet potato fries amongst others. Many other things il go back for next time. Setting is a bit bland however.
