Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s always fun to have your food thrown at you. The food is reasonable. Not much can go wrong with a bbq. It’s moderately to a little overpriced for portion sizes but fun experience. Staff where friendly and attentive. Enough range in the drinks menu....Noisy and good for kids and small birthday groups.More

This restaurant in the Parap Shopping Village turned out to be a bit of a surprise. The teppanyaki set was generous for $75, especially if you picked scallops which were huge - we each got 8 HUGE scallops. You can pick three proteins, and the...meal comes with a small entree, miso soup and dessert. Steak was tender and threadfin salmon was nice cooked. Prawns were a little overcooked. The tempura cheesecake is a weird dessert, but it was OK. If you don't like to interact with your chef, don't come here. It's all in good fun, with bowls and egg being thrown in your direction and lots of jokes that will make you groan. We walked passed here the next night and heard the same joke being repeated. You've been warned!More

Was an amazing night. Booked last minute (30 mins in advance) for a family of 6, and most definitely did now disappoint. Not only was the food amazing but was one of the most entertaining dinners possible. Worth every cent.

Staffs were friendly and nice service. I even saw people singing karaoke there. Good restaurant to go in NT. Teppanyki chef was very funny and professional but suitable for kids more than 5 years old I think.

Having flown to Darwin on business and having been to a number of restaurants over the 5days. We decided to attend Oka Teppanyaki. We received a warm greeting and the menu lookedcomparable to anything you would find in a fine establishment in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra...or Melbourne. However the let down was a group of what can only be described a low life yobbos who disrupted other diners and flashing various female body parts. We objected strongly to the obnoxious Lush that thought she was a super model, who tried cuddling one of our exec staff from Canberra. Much to his loud statement of ‘go away’, she continued to hag around for awhile before finding another target. We made A number of complaints to the staff, staff were also extremely embarrassed by this patron. however no action was taken to eject her or call the police. An evening of uncomfortable and disgraceful antics of another patron. I hear this restaurant has great reviews and the meals were good, but it beggars belief that the staff allow such behaviour to go on.More

I went to the restaurant with a friend in a hope to get a different dining experience and maybe that's a mistake. We should've come with a group of friends so there'll actually a reason to be jolly. The menu is, shall we say, basic,...and the 'traditional Japanese a-la-carte menu' left me feel like meeting a tinder date who looked so different in person. The only saving grace is the performance. Oh my gosh, so exhilarating! The chef cooked their cuisine the way Eric Clapton plays his guitar. Started gentle and slow, seducing you with the smell of delicious Asian cuisine, and finished strong as he threw that piece of beef to my bowl. Wow! Just don't ask him to sing. Gave me a headache.More

We cannot recommend Oka highly enough! Fantastic food as well as a fantastic show by the chef not to mention the charismatic and incredibly attentive wait staff. We both ordered the $75 menu and chose a mix of meat and seafood. Portion size was much...bigger then we were anticipating based on other teppanyaki restaurants that we have been to and all the food was absolutely delicious! We absolutely loved our night at Oka and can’t wait to go back! Highly highly recommend!More

I have nothing to compare it to as it was my first Teppanyaki experience. My son often goes there and he likes it, but he also doesn't have another one to compare it to. We started off with a young guy as our chef (name...escapes me sorry). Friendly, entertaining and he was joined by an older gentleman when things got busy. I found the Duck to be of poor quality to be honest, and I have eaten Duck numerous times. It was tough & grisly, but my scallops were yummy. The rice was dry unfortunately. My sons Wagu was delicious. We also had the deep fried cheesecake and both liked that. My son had a good chat with an older gentleman (possibly owner?), which he enjoyed about the Saki, which he likes. I took the 2 points off for the duck, rice & it is costly. But that might be a standard price for a Teppanyaki 'show'. Thanks to staff, were you all lovely.More

5/5 for fun, lively atmosphere & entertainment! We’ve probably been spoilt & had better teppanyaki in Melbourne & in Japan but we had a great time here. We laughed so much! Frank & his team are very fun hosts. 😀 We arrived as a couple...& found ourselves part of the entire group- including a birthday party 🥳. The karaoke was a bit of a laugh too! The food was very good. A great night for a family or group of friends.More

Worse experience ever in a Darwin restaurant, Not recommended & Not worth to try at all! They offer small portion of Casuarina food court quality food, but charge u for lots amount of money! Worsestill, they allow a group of teens with hoarse voice singing...karaoke inside the restaurant, making customers frustrated & irritable. The restaurant has No ideas of what they are doing at all!More
