Saturday evening, yep, busy time, got seated then was told waiter will be back with drinks menu. Half an hour later had to grab a drinks menu off another table. Another half hour later had to flag down a waitress to say we were very...thirsty! Finally "our" waitress arrived & half heartedly apolagised about the wait. Eventually food came out & my steak was delicous. But my wife's pasta, a 5 year old could have cooked it at kindy. Bloody horrible. Same as my friends wagyu ragu, he was very disappointed. If we are going to spend a decent amount of money on a meal it should be enjoyable. Not the crap we got to eat.More

Why do I continue to suggest Char to my interstate friends? Because of the out door ambience I guess and that is ALL Once again cold raw steaks after an hour wait, even at 6.30 pm and I won’t go on about the rest of...the meal Once again a disgraceful disappointment Why why why? Never never againMore

We’ve been in Darwin over two weeks and this restaurant simply has the best food. Service was great, but not over attentive. Alice is a real asset. Charcuterie board has melt in your mouth jamon. And the seafood brodetta and crab spaghetti were absolutely scrumptious....For a restaurant that specializes in steaks their seafood chefs do an amazing job. Don’t listen to the negative complaints.More

My husband and I had 2wks to plan my son's 18th. It was a last minute decision and Matt and his team were very accommodating. The place was great and the food! Can't be compared to anyone else's. Service from the food servers to the...bartender and manager, greatly appreciated. Will definitely be considering it for future events.More

Food was bad, service even worse. The best for the night was the tall waiter from Serbia who was very attentive. Two steaks were like brown lumps on a large plate. Had to wait 10 minutes for sides. Only one meal was edible. If you...want to pay big and throw your money away then this is the place for you. Darwin we can do betterMore

We were so impressed with our dinner at Char 😍 The setting is stunning, with a great view of the sun setting over the ocean, we were seated outside under the big tree lit up with fairy lights. The food was absolutely incredible! Get the...corn rolls - the condiments served with them are divine! Amazing steak & crab linguine. Service was lovely tooMore

Hi my name is Chloe Buhler and I am currently studying food and hospitality as a year 12 subject. I was wondering if you'd be able to answer a few questions to assist in my investigation on how American cuisine is impacting Australian restaurants. Feel free to skip any questions. 1. Would you consider your restaurant to be American style? (In terms of food, appearance, theme) 2. Do you believe your restaurant menu is influenced by American cuisine? (In terms of food items, flavours, presentations, ingredients, portion size) 3. If so, is there a particular part of America that has influenced you restaurant? 4. Would you consider it a positive or negative thing that some restaurant menus are influenced by American cuisine? 5. Do your customers leave mostly positive or negative reviews about your food? 6. What would you say customers appreciate the most about American style food? (In terms of taste, smell, portion size, presentation) 7. Would you/do you prefer American style food over other cultures? If so, why? 8. What type of foods that Australian restaurants sell, would you consider American style? 9. What about those items makes them American style? (In terms of taste, smell, portion size, presentation) 10. Do you believe the American theme will spread and grow throughout Australian restaurants? 11. If so, why? Thank you for taking the time to help me and I hope you have a great day!
