Had an amazing time here. The venue is great and has a great vibe, staff were excellent and attentive. The cocktails and food were all top notch… really enjoyed the whole thing.

I was visiting from Melbourne and read that Nirvana was an excellent option for dinner, drinks and live music. It did not disappoint. In fact, I attended with my friends two nights in a row. The first night was just for cocktails and music, the...following night included dinner. Lovely fresh Asian-style food, great cocktail options with the bartender even offering to make us an off-menu creation to suit our palates and very high calibre music both nights. Great setting, super attentive service, really quirky decor, dark and moody which was fabulous. Highly recommend a visit whether you're a traveller or a local!More
After reading the reviews we decided to have Indian food at Nirvana. The food is no way near any Indian dish. Every dish we ordered was full of coconut cream. We ordered Roti - to our surprise we were served a 200mm diameter frozen Roti...heated up on a hot plate and cut out into 4 for the price of $5.00. Will not be recommending anyone looking for Indian dishes in Darwin.More
Excellent service and awesome value for money. We were slotted in without a booking and made feel very welcome. The meals were huge and we were offered a takeaway container for leftovers. Great ambiance - this restaurant is a hidden gem!
Last meal before moving away from Darwin, and Nirvana impressed as usual. We have been here many times before (dine in, Smoke and Oak, and takeaway) and we have never been disappointed. My wife chose a couple of vegan dishes (there's a good selection, or...options are available), while I had the spring rolls and yellow thread fin curry. Delightful! Great wine selections too, and the beer and spirits range should satisfy most tastes. We would always recommend Nirvana, not only for the food as explained above but the staff are always terrific - upbeat, knowledgeable and always happy to help. If you are in Darwin visiting or if you have lived here a while and haven't tried it, we highly recommend Nirvana.More
An ex-Darwin resident recommended this restaurant. It is a recognised institution in the area. Don't be put off by the frontage. Behind the rather ordinary exterior is a very cool cocktail lounge: Smoke and Oak and the restaurant is behind this. AMAZING Indian food. The...menu is creative and comprehensive. The beef patty entree deserves a better title than just a 'patty'. The crunchy coating and succulent center were spectacular. Chicken curry out of this world and the most tender, lightly spiced squid. If you are in Darwin, do not miss out on this experience.More
Absolutely terrible! Myself and my partner went for dinner on 4 August 2022. We had battered eggplant and cauliflower as entree Mains were chicken pad-tai and beef vindaloo. All food was so salty it was inedible. The waitress did not even want to know us...or care about the quality of food or service-as service was sh!t as well. We are Darwin locals and will not return or recommend this sh!t hole of a restaurant.More
I had thought of this place as a music venue( which it is and a darned fine one) until a local told me it is highly regarded for it food. What a treat the food is! Bugs ( no not insects, the seafood delicacy) have...caught me every time. Generous serve, beautifully sauced with a range of vegetables. There is respect for produce and a fine use of authentic spices evident in this dish. Maybe one time I will try their other dishes which promise equally subtle and authentic delight. Good selection of wine by the glass, reasonable prices, friendly service and charming staff I’m very glad I discovered this aspect of this fine venueMore
The food at Nirvana is so good. Great place for a date night, the atmosphere is great and i love the lighting, its very "moody".
We were excited to come to Nirvana. On entering, we felt we were in for something special. A good greeting at the entrance, prompt and attentive waitperson. The process of ordering was ok too. So, we ordered the oysters. Tasty and fresh and plump but...I am sorry, who the heck serves unshucked oysters!? The second entree was pandan wrapped chicken parcels. They were dry and overcooked to the point of being black. Not moist, not nice... The mains, Bugs (well cooked) but boring... Twice cooked pork curry... Yea...Na. again boring as... Did we complain? No. Just didn't think it was worth it. Frankly, why should I have to complain. I am not their quality advisor, it's not up to me to tell them the food they gave us was just not good enough. Sorry but definately not worth the $180 for the 2 of us😒More
Great atmosphere, great food, great wine, highly rate this place and will definitely be back to taste more off the menu.
Generous serves and full of flavour. We enjoyed our meals and the service was very quick as it was a Wednesday night. The Tom Yum soup was a stand out.
We booked this restaurant from Melbourne through past reviews. The hospitality was fantastic! The food was amazing. The staff surprised my dad with a dessert with candles for his birthday. Would definitely recommend this place
Food was average and service was slow. We were there for the public holiday weekend so the bill was $160+ for 1 starter, 2 mains and 4 drinks which was far too expensive for the standard received Took over 1hr for mains to come out
We had a lovely evening, the waitress and bar staff were so nice, greeting us with a smile and a "good evening" when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for them, attending to all tables promptly and with a smile, they made us feel...like we were old friends coming back for a visit. We had two entrees. The tandoori chicken pieces were lovely but the cauliflower pakoras could have been a little spicier for my taste. Our mains were the lamb korma and the penang chicken which were both absolutely delicious. This is only our second visit but we will definitely be back for the food, the ambience and the friendliness of the staff. Thankyou for a great evening.More
