Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely delicious meals. Were told there was a new chef. The meals were just divine. Tastes so different from the norm. Had the fish of the day on our first day and loved it so much went the next day and had the Chef's Tasting...Plate for 2, plus dessert, drinks and coffees. Highly recommend this bistro. We sent our compliments to the chef both days and we rarely ever do that.More

I ate here whilst staying at the adjacent hotel. There's a reasonable range of menu options, bit service a bit slow. Prices are excessive (they have a captive market), and some of the portions are very small!

Amazing menu and wine selection. All of our courses were full of flavour and beautifully presented. Table service was great. Nice atmosphere. We hadn't made a reservation...it was no trouble to the staff

As with everything else in Yalara, this is overpriced. But, this said, I'd still have expected a little more. The service was patchy... We were left without cutlery after receiving our food and struggled to get anyone's attention. I had a veg tempura which hardly...had any batter on at all and was too salty. The wine costs $20 more per bottle than it does in other restaurants nearby.More

Watch out! Their cocktails were $27.50. I thought that was way overly priced for water downed cocktails. For $37.50, I expect to get a little tipsy. The last food was just ok. My husband had the kangaroo kebobs and thought it tasted good. I had...the pumpkin and walnut salad with spinach. It was good but I expected more spinach. Instead it was primarily cubes of pumpkin with a handful of little chopped walnuts and a little bit of spinach strips. For the main course my husband had the fish and chips which he liked. I had the salmon and chose gnoochi instead of spaghetti to go with it. It was smoked salmon which I thought was just ok. Gnoochi was just average too. The service was kind of slow. The other restaurant at that hotel was much better. Go there instead.More

It was our first day in Ayers Rock, Desert Gardens Resort, we arrived with the tour group lunch time, all hungry, no other places around that we could see or walk to, it’s pure desert 40C. Service was quick and friendly. I had Moroccan chicken...burger and chips and my husband had plant based burger and chips. Both were delicious, huge burger and very large servings of fresh fries. But they brought us a bottle of still water which we didn’t ask for but they charged us $15 Aus, we thought it was tap water.More

Mangata is the casual restaurant and bar in the Desert Gardens Hotel. Started with drinks on the outside patio before dinner. (Didn't have table service, so get your drinks at the inside bar.) For dinner, I had the Peri Peri Chicken Sandwich (grilled chicken breast,...red onion, tomato, cheddar cheese, cos lettuce & siracha mayo) with fries. Washed it down with a James Squire 150 Lashes Pale Ale. Was very tasty.More

I decided to "treat myself" on my last night at Yulara Resort by dining in my hotel restuarant. Welcomed warmly by the staff and seated promptly. Decided to have 2 entree/side dishes as I wasn't as hungry as i thought. Offered water which I gratefully...accepted, however didn't realise until later that this was not complimentary but I was charged for a bottle of sparkling water at $12! The dishes were served reasonably quickly and were delicious! I had herbed garlic bread (which was more than i had expected) and a vegetable medley - Both $13 each. Overall a reasonable experience, but a little expensive (even allowing for the location). Fish and chips was $37, burgers were $28-32 and schnitzel were $28-32 as well - and this was the "cheaper" hotel restaurant. I don't normally dine at hotel restaurants as they are generally expensive and I prefer to eat out a local pub/cafe nearby which is cheaper. However, this was not possible here at Yulara - pretty much a captive audience..haha. Prefer to go to Kulata Cafe for lunch/breakfast options and used the local IGA supermarket for fresh salads for dinner etc. Besides being charged $12 for a bottle of Sparkling water was a little bit much - it certainly wasn't made clear at the time of the offer and in which i would have taken the bottle back to my room..More

We had two lunches and a dinner here while staying at Desert Gardens. We enjoyed our lunches. The highlight for me was the ocean trout for dinner which was delicious. Unfortunately my husband’s that night was disappointing, while we enjoyed our glasses of wine.

We ate the breakfast buffet here twice during our stay at the Desert Gardens. The waitstaff were quick to clear plates, clear tables and refill items on the buffet. The food and drink selection was pretty good with the usual items (scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit...and pancakes). They had multiple toasters which kept the bread area from getting congested. I also appreciated that they had peanut butter (the first one of 3 hotels that I’ve stayed in while in Australia) and enjoyed the tater tots (that they called hash browns).More
