Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I initially thought this hotel restaurant would be overpriced and tasteless but it was surprisingly reasonably priced and the service was good. I ordered the szchuan tofu dish. It was not authentic but for a restaurant in the middle of the outback I was satisfied. They used szchuan peppercorns and fried the tofu and some other veggies so there was texture. It was all bathing in soy sauce and peppercorns though so the sauce could be improved. All in all I was happy with my experience and would return and would recommend this reataurant!

We visited this restaurant twice during our 3 night stay on the resort. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast on one occasion which had everything you needed, each being replenished with fresh food constantly. Nothing out of this world for breakfast but all good food at a price more reasonable than Sails.
We returned for dinner which was particularly good. The mozzarella board starter was huge, perfect for a sharing starter and very tasty with warm bread, pesto and tomatoes alongside olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Mains were reasonable and was followed by an excellent pecan pie for dessert.
Of all the restaurants, this and Walpa Lobby Bar were our favourite, particularly considering value for money

Mangata seems to be the only a la carte offering for dinner at the Ayers Rock resort. We arrived after viewing the sun set at Kata Tjuta and had no issue being seated. The staff was very accommodating with my wife's food allergies. Her requests were conveyed to the chef and then worked thru colaboratively. Much better than just marking menus as the offerings typically expand quite a bit. Pretty good choice of Aussie wines by the glass as well. I have to say, the experience was much better than we expected ...

We waited one hour 15 minutes to be seated the girl on the front desk seamed to be very chatty with the patrons. Looking into the resturant I could see lots of vacant tables, ok our turn she looked me in the eye and said we only have one tabel outside, it's now 9 oclock the steam came from my ears and I asked her 5 times what is wrong with this table or that tabel after a small discussion we were seated, eventually the scotch fillet steak came out I ordered medium Husband well done. My steak could not be cut with the knife they gave me it was as tough as old boots, tasty sauce and cold chips, not worth the 38 dollars. Guys get your act together and get your staff working not running arround doing nothing.

We enjoyed an excellent meal here and prices for both food and drinks were surprisingly reasonable for such a remote location. The menu is quite extensive and interesting and our meals were well cooked, nicely presented and tasty with good sized servings. The staff were really excellent and very responsive, despite the restaurant being full and staff shortages being endemic throughout the Centre.

we had dinner here one night and they told us earlier no need to book so when we arrived they were quite busy so when we sat we ordered quickly and it took one and a half hours to get our dinner we were just about to tell them not to worry as it was getting late. and unfortunately when we got our meals they were very average. my husband had the $39 steak which was just the steak a very small bowl of salsa that didnt look fresh and a not very nice gravy. and i had a noodle dish that was like a packet sauce . so the two dishes and a couple of drinks each cost around $120. which would have been ok if food was something special which it wasnt.

My reason for a three instead of a four, was the lack of signage, that is, if the food is gluten free or for vegans. I found myself asking waiters which in turn would asked the chef. PS: we only had breakfast buffet for two days.

Whilst I appreciate the restaurant was busy it shouldn’t take 50 minutes to serve a poke bowl and 2 kebab skewers. On top of the fact I had to wait I wasn’t once approached by staff to apologise for the wait or even asked if I wanted another drink.
I’ve worked in kitchens before and as a general rule (even when it’s busy) if an order for a solo table for a salad comes in you get it out the kitchen asap.
Upon payment I brought it up with the waitress who then admitted it shouldn’t take that long and when I suggested removing an item from the bill she looked bewildered.
If you’re staying at Dessert Gardens don’t eat here. Instead walk up to the other restaurants.

As with everything else in Yalara, this is overpriced. But, this said, I'd still have expected a little more. The service was patchy... We were left without cutlery after receiving our food and struggled to get anyone's attention. I had a veg tempura which hardly had any batter on at all and was too salty. The wine costs $20 more per bottle than it does in other restaurants nearby.

After there reopening and the launch of there new menu, I was politely surprised by the class of service that I received at mangata gave us tonight. The food was served in a speedy manner but still gave us enough time to enjoy a drink before it arrived. The food was absolutely delicious I would recommend the peri peri chicken burger! All in all an amazing night with delicious food and a fairly decent whiskey range to finish off the evening! I would recmeond dining here while at Ayres rock resorts

We ate here a few times. Food is nice enough and prices are somewhat on the expensive side but the atmosphere is nice and the staff are lovely. Prompt food delivery which was appreciated when we had a tour booked and were trying to squeeze in a quick bite before hand.

This restaurant is a step between Ilkari at Sails and the more upmarket Arnguli, also at Desert Sands. No reservations, walk-up only, and we timed our dining to be before the hoards returned from their sunset tours, good plan.
Good bistro menu, the salmon with sweet potato fries was lovely, although having been told it would be served "slightly pink" in the middle, as it should be, I think it had sat under the hot lights a tad too long and was well cooked all the way through. The manager was apologetic.
Many wines available by the glass, beer on tap too.

We had breakfast twice and lunch once at this bistro. The breakfast buffet was magnificent and at lunch I had one of the best sirloin steaks ever, while my wife had a beautiful piece of salmon. Both dishes were cooked to perfection.

It was our first day in Ayers Rock, Desert Gardens Resort, we arrived with the tour group lunch time, all hungry, no other places around that we could see or walk to, it’s pure desert 40C. Service was quick and friendly. I had Moroccan chicken burger and chips and my husband had plant based burger and chips. Both were delicious, huge burger and very large servings of fresh fries. But they brought us a bottle of still water which we didn’t ask for but they charged us $15 Aus, we thought it was tap water.

We ate the breakfast buffet here twice during our stay at the Desert Gardens. The waitstaff were quick to clear plates, clear tables and refill items on the buffet. The food and drink selection was pretty good with the usual items (scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and pancakes). They had multiple toasters which kept the bread area from getting congested. I also appreciated that they had peanut butter (the first one of 3 hotels that I’ve stayed in while in Australia) and enjoyed the tater tots (that they called hash browns).
